This article is about the reaction of the German Church (EKD) to the horrible experiences of the ... more This article is about the reaction of the German Church (EKD) to the horrible experiences of
the holocaust and her own silence. It has been a relatively long process to achieve a deep enough
renewal of the Christian-Jewish relation after 1945. The focus of the article, however, lies in the
role of Jewish Christians ( Jewish believers in Jesus as the Messiah) and how they themselves have
contributed to this renewing process. The Jewish Christians of today are called "Messianic Jews"
and are a worldwide movement. The author shows how the official church in Germany is dealing
with them today and discusses her critical attitude towards them. The author, however, makes
the plea to engage in a fruitful encounter that could bring a change to both sides.
