Unfortunately, synthetic color batik has many advantages over natural dyes batik. The difficulty of selling natural color batik makes natural color batik crafters carry out educational activities to potential consumers to generate demand and purchases. The method for the research is observation for the long term, an in-depth interview to confirm the observation finding then do qualitative analysis. The research found that natural color batik crafters or ecopreneurs must have a solid green value to survive in their business. There are various ways, methods, and means to educate potential batik consumers and others. Natural color Batik artisans will choose the way he or she is most likely to do. The education is carried out continuously. This activity is aimed at prospective consumers knowing natural color batik and its advantages. This knowledge can defeat the attractiveness of low prices that synthetic color batik has....

ABSTRACT This article discusses how the production of “original”/“asli” commodity through a local... more ABSTRACT This article discusses how the production of “original”/“asli” commodity through a local/global dialectic in how “intangible heritage” is defined and how contemporary global market-facing Sumba weaving contributes to shifts and contradictions in gender roles as they are shaped simultaneously through local community needs and through a global facing westernised patriarchal business ethos. The increasing global north facing integration of global south production communities into the world markets for instance, leads to a masculinisation of management and global facing leadership while along with a feminisation of the local production process. Evidence for our observations were drawn from over 50 in-depth interviews and onsite observation during field visits to the site.

Kain tenun Sumba memiliki sejarah panjang, keunikan dan kekhasannya menjadikan kain yang terkenal... more Kain tenun Sumba memiliki sejarah panjang, keunikan dan kekhasannya menjadikan kain yang terkenal sampai mancanegara. Pengrajin menghadapi masalah antara harus segera menjual untuk mendapatkan uang untuk memenuhi kebutuhan sementara harga tenun Sumba tergolong mahal sehingga sulit laku. Oleh karena itu, perlu terobosan pemasaran sehingga pengrajin tenun Sumba dapat bertemu dengan konsumen yang lebih luas termasuk dari mancanegara. Dalam hal ini e-commerce dianggap sebagai upaya yang murah, efektif dan efisien dalam menjangkau pasar yang lebih luas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguraikan kemungkian pengrajin tenun Sumba dalam mengaplikasikan e-marketplace. Kajiannya meliputi kemungkinan terjadinya transaksi, kemampuan pengrajin dalam mengoperasikan emarketplace dan strategi yang dapat ditetapkan jika terjadi beberapa kesulitan atau hambatan. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan metode action research. Dalam penelitian ini action research dilakukan dengan cara mengadakan workshop dimana pada saat workshop terjadi kondisi kontekstual pengrajin mulai menggunakan marketplace, pada saat itu peneliti bertindak selaku pelatih sekaligus melakukan pengamatan dan wawancara untuk mendapatkan data yang dibutuhkan. Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa terdapat potensi pasar bagi produk tenun sumba dalam pasar e-commerce Indonesia, terutama di Jawa. Pengrajin tenun sumba dapat membuka mengoperasikan akun marketplace yang dimilikinya karena berbagai kemudahan yang ditawarkan aplikasi e-marketplace berbasis android dengan menggunakan smartphone. Terbuka kemungkinan untuk para pengrajin berkolaborasi dalam satu toko online di e-marketplace sehingga ketersediaan produk selain jumlahnya lebih banyak juga lebih bervariasi. Penelitian ini menyarankan adanya keterlibatan pihak ketiga dalam penjualan di e-marketplace dimungkinkan terjadi melalui fitur dropshipper.

Information Technology is often associated with the modern and sophisticated things where the mos... more Information Technology is often associated with the modern and sophisticated things where the most users are usually related with good financial means. Not surprisingly, most success stories on the utilization of Information Technology mostly come from those people who are able to use high-tech devices. For the poor, the gadget and internet usage is still a luxury and requires an additional expenditure beyond their basic necessities. However, the poor should be able to enhance their financial opportunities if the university can recommend the appropriate information technology to them. The technology does not always mean high-tech and expensive. The effectiveness in the Information Technology usage could be learnt by the student and lecturer before they do the community service to obtain the optimum benefit for good impact for their economic welfare. Unfortunately, most of the community service programs are often associated with the only basic needs of the community and the greater potential of information technology is never introduced by the university students and lecturers. This paper will describe a strategy to encourage university’s Social Entrepreneurship to empower underprivileged communities by leveraging Information Technology, as part of the implementation of university’s awareness which should combines the academic advancement and concern for poverty. The stories presented in such a performance generally teach noble values to the viewers and the community in general. In the past, traditional theatre such as wayang kulit or Indonesian shadow puppet has been an effective medium in delivering moral messages. However, up to now this art form was only presented through traditional means. Furthermore, it has not been well documented, making it difficult for the younger generation to gain access to them. Limited access to materials to be studied creates an obstacle for the younger generation to know, learn, and thus preserve these art forms. Therefore, the actors involved need to learn to deliver their work of art using modern technology. This will not just allow them to document their work but could generate economic benefits for them. This paper will describe the technical aspect of disseminating the traditional wisdom of wayang kulit by the actors themselves using modern technology. To make it sustainable, the actors should be able to do it themselves without difficulty. The results are e-learning materials that can be studied by the younger generation.

In recent years, however, we have seen an erosion of this sense of tolerance amongst the Javanese. Because of this, a team of researchers from the Soegijapranata Catholic University in Semarang has introduced a portal dedicated to the artists of wayang in Solo and Semarang. It is hoped that this portal will make wayang not only survive, but continue to be able to contribute in the development of a plural, tolerant and multi-cultural Indonesian society.

Sumba weaving has been around for centuries and still exists with all its authenticity. This paper will discuss the role of women weaver in Sumba especially in the preservation of weaving craft. The research was conducted by ethnography method, deepening the life of the weavers in East Sumba. The study found women weavers do transfer local knowledge to the younger generation. They grew in rural area since last century. Shadow puppets used to entertain the rural community for example at the time of harvest celebrations, early planting, “clean village”, marriage, coronation of the king, the anniversary of the village, and so forth. Since 2003 UNESCO has declared Wayang Indonesia (Indonesian wayang puppet theater) as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. The times causing puppet life is threatened, many Indonesian youths do not like or do not even know puppet anymore. The conservation and development of shadow puppets are not allowed to undermine the authenticity of the heritage of the culture (UNESCO, 2003). The marketing of corn competitive product in Grobogan Regency was developed by increasing its val... more The marketing of corn competitive product in Grobogan Regency was developed by increasing its value added by making corn snack. This research was done in Grobogan Regency toward 180 students comprising Elementary School, Yunior and Senior High School, each 60 respondents consuming corn snack. Using regression analysis, it was known that there is significant influence from variables constructing Customer Based Brand Equity (CBBE) by Keller. Variables which influence positive and significant were Brand Imagery, Brand Performance and Brand Resonance. It was found that R equals 0.551 and adjusted R square or determinant coefficient was 0.279 or influence of CBBE toward BuyingDecision was 27.9 percent.

They grew in rural area since last century. Shadow puppets used to entertain the rural community for example at the time of harvest celebrations, early planting, “clean village”, marriage, coronation of the king, the anniversary of the village, and so forth. Since 2003 UNESCO has declared Wayang Indonesia (Indonesian wayang puppet theater) as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. The times causing puppet life is threatened, many Indonesian youths do not like or do not even know puppet anymore. The conservation and development of shadow puppets are not allowed to undermine the authenticity of the heritage of the culture (UNESCO, 2003). This research was done in Grobogan Regency toward 180 students comprising Elementary School, Yunior and Senior High School, each 60 respondents consuming corn snack. Using regression analysis, it was known that there is significant influence from variables constructing Customer Based Brand Equity (CBBE) by Keller. Variables which influence positive and significant were Brand Imagery, Brand Performance and Brand Resonance. It was found that R equals 0.551 and adjusted R square or determinant coefficient was 0.279 or influence of CBBE toward BuyingDecision was 27.9 percent.
