Despite his European point of view and life style, he maintained the traditional understanding of Waqf of the Ottomans and had many charity works constructed in different places of the Empire, particularly in Istanbul, as well as in the Holy such as Land Mecca, Medina and Taif. One of these works is Mecidiye Mosque in Çırağan. Eight personnel, including one preacher, two imams, three muezzins, one doorkeeper, one gatekeeper for the Sultan's Lodge (Mahfil-i Hümayun) and the heating room were employed in Mecidiye Mosque. Besides, there were many participants in the Ceremony of Holy Prophet Muhammad's beard (known commonly as the "Sakal-i Serif"), organized every year. The cost of the personnel was covered from the incomes of the real estate property of the Waqfs within the Empire. After Mecidiye Mosque was built, Friday Salutation Ceremony was also held in there and the Sultan gave gratuities to certain people during this ceremony.

The main sources of the study consist of Ottoman Archives of the Prime Minister's Office and regiters from the archives of Directorate General of Foundations. Focuses on certain issues related to the aforementioned clock rooms, such as construction reasons, construction costs, completion period, repairs, regulation, staff assignment, qualifications, positions and salaries of staff. it also aims to answer questions such as whether the salaries were paid regularly or not, whether these buildings still exist, and if they do, for what purpose they are currently being use. Thus the current study brings to light some of Sultan Abdulmecid's endowment works, and contributes to the history of clock rooms.
