Pressure sores are a health problem that adversely affects the quality of life of the individuals... more Pressure sores are a health problem that adversely affects the quality of life of the individuals, increases the length of hospital stay, increases the mortality and treatment costs. The applications and the cases that disrupt the body integrity seen in the patient individuals increase the risk of developing pressure sore. Pressure, humidity, disease, age, nutrition, tissue perfusion, friction and shear are the risk factors in the development of pressure sore, while wound size/depth, wound edges, exudate/scent presence, tunnel formation, infection and pain are the indicators considered in the wound classification. There are numerous assessment tools in the literature to evaluate the risk of pressure sore and the wound.
