Methods: We investigated the inhibitory effect of morphine on replication of HSV in vitro. Results: The results indicated that a concentration of up to 200 ug/ml morphine had a limited effect on Vero cell viability. At this concentration the growth of HSV was inhibited considerably and after the third passage in presence of morphine it was completely diminished. Presence of viral antigens in infected cells in presence of morphine by IF staining showed that after the first passage a small number of infected cells contained viral proteins and at the third passage no cells with viral antigen was observed. Conclusion: This was confirmed by page and immunobloting techniques. Electron microscopy observation in cellular section indicated that there was no virus present in treated cells as compared with control untreated infected cells.

The method is based on comparing the measured output voltage with the reference voltage and the voltage obtained from the fault analysis. The implementation scheme of the method is presented; and all the practical aspects including capacitors voltage ripple and system delays are considered. The implementation of the method needs no additional sensor, measurement and processor board. The performance of the proposed method is verified by numerical simulation of a five-level converter. The results confirm the effectiveness and accurate operation of the method for fault detection and localization.

The airframe dynamics is modeled by a second-order non minimum phase transfer function, describing short period approximation. In the derivation of our optimal control problem, the actuator is assumed to be perfect and without limitation on fin deflection, whereas fin deflection limit is applied for the performance analysis of the presented optimal IGC solution. The problem geometry is assumed in one dimension and the final position and final time are fixed. The formulation is obtained in four different normalized forms to give more insight into the design and performance analysis of the optimal IGC strategy. In addition, guidance gains are obtained analytically i...

This mite is existed on some orchards in different areas of Iran especially in Hamedan province. In recent years, the mite has become economically important thus; this study was conducted under the lab conditions at 9 constant temperatures (15, 17.5, 20, 22.5, 25, 27.5, 30 and 32.5 35oC), (±0.5); Rh % (60±5) and L: D 16:8, on sweet- cherry leaf discs. Our findings showed that the lowest mortality of pre-imaginal developmental time was at 15 oC (52%) and highest at 32.5 oC (85%). Moreover, it demonstrated that at 35 oC no eggs hatched therefore, this temperature must have been considered as the lethal temperature for the growth mite and so, mortality depends on some environmental factors, particularly temperature effects. Therefore, the results may be used to some aspect of integrated pest management of brown mite in sweet-cherry orchards.

The aim of this research is to present a novel mathematical model for designing a reliable blood supply chain network. This network consists of three main echelons including donors, collection facilities and demand points. At the collection echelon, three types of facilities are considered for receiving the bloods from the donors: main blood centers (MBCs), demountable collection centers (DCCs), and mobile blood facilities (MBFs). DCCs, and MBFs are mobile facilities that don’t have a permanent location and always move from a location to another one for collecting the bloods from the donors. The main difference between the MBFs and DCCs is that the DCCs can only visit at most a candidate location in every period, but the MBFs can visit more than one. Also, there are some other differences between their capacities and their costs. Both of DCCs and MBFs dispatch the collected bloods to the MBCs that are permanen...

Although most of these tumors are benign, they are a challenge because of the complex anatomy and important neurovascular structures that traverse this space. Most common cerebellopontine angle tumor is vestibular schwannoma. The management of these cases is essentially surgical. There has been a change in the surgical strategy over the years from simple intratumoral decompression to complete microsurgical excision, to radical excision with facial nerve and hearing preservation. Objectives: To study the clinical and radiological characteristics, know the pathological types and determine the surgical resectability and outcome of cerebellopontine angle tumor. Materials and Methods: It is a retrospective study done in the department of Neurosurgery, Apollo Hospitals Dhaka. 34 patients diagnosed with cerebellopontine angle tumor were recruited into the study. Results: Among 34 cases of cerebellopontine angle tumors vestibular schwannoma alone constituted 79%. Most of the tumors were large or giant tumors. Total resection was done in 25% of vestibular schwannoma and 50% of meningiomas. Anatomical preservation of facial nerve was achieved in 73% of patients. Facial nerve function as measured by the House Brackmann system. Postoperatively 61% had a score of 1 or 2; 29% had a score of 3 or 4; and 8% had a score of 5 or 6. Other complications included 2 cases of CSF leak, 3 cases of meningitis, 2 cases of lower cranial nerve palsy and 1 patient died. Conclusion: Cerebellopontine angle tumors show high incidence from 3rd to 5th decade with common symptoms being hearing loss and ataxia. Most of the patients presented at a delayed stage with large to giant tumors with no useful hearing. Sub total excision with keeping anterior part of tumor for preserving facial nerve function is the goal.

In this paper, a multi-product continuous review inventory control problem within the batch arriv... more In this paper, a multi-product continuous review inventory control problem within the batch arrival queuing approach (M Qr /M/1) is modeled to find the optimal quantities of the maximum inventory. The objective function is to minimize the total costs of ordering, holding and shortage under warehouse space and service level, and expected lost-sales shortage cost constraints from retailer and warehouse viewpoints. Since the proposed model is NP-hard, an efficient imperialist competitive algorithm (ICA) is developed to solve the model. Moreover, to justify the proposed ICA, a simulated annealing algorithm is utilized, and to determine the best values of algorithm parameters that may result in a better solution, a fine-tuning procedure is followed. Finally, the performance of the proposed ICA is assessed through some numerical examples.

Any such parametrization defines a birational map F of P n onto a hypersurface V (F) ⊂ P n+1 with a strong handle to implicitization. From this side, the theory developed here extends recent work of Benítez and D'Andrea on monoid parameterizations. The paper deals with both the ideal theoretic and effective aspects of the problem. The ring theoretic development gives information on the Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity of the base ideal of F. From the effective side, we give an explicit formula of deg(F) involving data from the inverse map of F and show how the present parametrization relates to monoid parameterizations.

Research paper thumbnail of Remifentanil versus dexmedtomidine for posterior spinal fusion surgery

One of the commonly used drugs for this purpose is remifentanil. Another sedative-hypnotic-analgesic drug, with acceptable effects is dexmedetomidine. The aim of this study was to compare the effect of dexmedetomidine with remifentanil in spinal operation. In a double blind randomized clinical trial, using random sampling method, 60 patients with the age range of 15-65 years who were candidates for posterior spinal fusion operation were included. Induction of anesthesia was performed, and both groups received isoflurane 1% during the surgery. Remifentanil was injected via infusion pump in one group. The patients in the trial group received dexmedetomidine. As trial outcomes, heart rate and blood pressure were measured before, after induction and during th...

Research paper thumbnail of Conjugated Linoleic Acid Stimulates Apoptosis in RH and Tehran Strains of Toxoplasma gondii, in Vitro

Iranian journal of parasitology

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) on apoptosis ... more The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) on apoptosis of tachyzoites of T. gondii, RH strain (type I) and the cyst-forming Tehran strain (type II) in vitro. Toxoplasma strains were injected into the peritoneal cavity of BALB/c mice. The Tehran strain forms cysts in the brain of mice. Bradyzoites within the cysts are reactivated to proliferative tachyzoites, by dexamethasone. Tachyzoites were aspirated from the peritoneum of infected mice, and the percentage of viable parasites was estimated with trypan blue staining. Tachyzoites were inoculated into HeLa cells cultivated in DMEM medium. Different concentrations of CLA were evaluated on T. gondii in HeLa cells by the tetrazolium (MTT) colorimetric assay. Differentiation between apoptosis and cell death was determined by flow cytometry using Annexin V and propidium iodide (PI) double staining. The statistical analysis performed by GraphPad Prism version 6.00. CLA induces apoptosis in virulent...

The statistical population of consisted of paddy farmers of Mazandaran province (N= 208839). According to Cochran formula, a sample of 240 farmers was selected through cluster sampling method. To collect data, a questionnaire was designed. Reliability of the questionnaire was measured by computing Cronbach's alpha (α ≥0/7) and its validity was approved by a panel of expert. Factor analysis revealed that communicative factors affecting in application of Sustainable Rice Farming Practices were four factors including: organizational communication, modern communication, local interpersonal communication and external interpersonal communication, respectively according to their importance. These factors explained 67.92 percent of the total variance.
