The obtained results of the study showed that until 2010 the leaders of investments in the field of tangible assets were medium-low-tech enterprises, while from 2010, high-tech sector was significantly ahead of other Lithuanian industrial sectors by level of its investments. This sector was significantly getting ahead of other industrial sectors by innovative activity. The study found that high and medium-high-tech enterprises are superior in terms of productivity, volumes of export and indicators of return on assets, comparing to medium-low and low-tech enterprises. However, it should be noted that, although, medium-high-tech industries got behind high-tech industries by their innovative activities, their operational efficiency was higher than high-tech enterprises for almost the entire period of study. To extend the research and represent countries general macroeconomical tendencies and technological development of the industry, 5 financial indicators (investment to tangible assets, proportion of tangible investments to sales revenue, additional value created, return on assets (ROA), export share in total revenue) were selected to perform cluster analysis between different technological level industries and country's GDP using Ward's method with squared Euclidean distance interval.

The research associated to this phenomenon and behaviour of engaged employees is becoming more relevant, and it increases the need to deeper the knowledge about it and to classify this phenomenon according to its typological features. The results of previous studies have revealed the extent of employees' engagement while this study focuses on perception of the emotional inclusion of engagement and on the development of the typological model of employees' engagement emotional inclusion. The research is ground on scientific papers of the last twenty years, analysing the theoretical and practical aspects of employee engagement, conducted research in the context of the employee's emotional state. Based on the performed analysis, a model has been drawn up that reveals the typology of the emotional inclusion of engagement and the factors that condition it, assessing the intensity of their mode and subsequently explaining the circumstances of their mode.

Differences only found between a scopes of authors. Every one of them worked in a different area of corporate social responsibility that’s why description of corporate social responsibility was modified and extended lots of time until now. Trying to explain the negative effect of irrational behavior J.Nash (1951) game theory selected as a theoretical background of rational social responsibility formation. Game theory helps to illustrate the outcomes of irrational decision making process. Those outcomes later interpreted in a context of social exclusion and marginalization. As a result of this work social sequel model of corporate social responsibility expression are created and presented in this paper. The set of chronologic-authorial and thematic-authorial analysis there applied for extraction and systematization of mentioned attributes. The aim of this paper is to make the theoretical description of the formation principles of rational corporate social responsibility

Research paper thumbnail of Institucinis Izomorfizmas Ar Efektyvumo Paieška? Iso 9000 Serijos Standartų Diegimo Motyvai Lietuvoje

Ekonomika ir vadyba, Dec 7, 2012

It is widely known that ISO 9000 series standards are type of operational effectiveness improveme... more It is widely known that ISO 9000 series standards are type of operational effectiveness improvement systems based on the idea of total quality management. These standards are promoted by Europe-based International Organization for Standardization. They are mostly known because of well developed opportunity to get adequate credentials after implementation, which signal that organization has created and implemented a system of continuous improvement of operational effectiveness according to the world-class practice. The first group of reasons of implementation of ISO 9000 standards is based on the logic of these systems. They are designed to improve operational effectiveness. Organizations, which implement ISO 9000 standards, at first, engage in process management techniques. They analyze, improve processes, their interaction and collectively adhere to improved processes (Benner and Tushman, 2003). Second, they initiate continuous problem solving, whose success is judged by decreasing costs and increasing customer satisfaction (Haeys et al., 2004). The result of these standards is more informed, motivated and collaborating employees, who show initiative in continuous problem solving in more defined organizational context (Vilkas, 2011). Corbet et al. (2005) used event-study methods and matched each of selected 554 ISO 9000 certified firms to a control group of one or more non-certified firms in the same industry with similar size and return on assets. They found that certification was followed by "significant abnormal improvements in financial performance" and three years after certification, the certified firms do display "strongly significant abnormal performance" under all control-group specifications (p.1046). Simmons and White (2002), Terzovski et al. (2001), Lima et. al (2000) Beirao et al. (2002) report supporting results. Other studies cast doubt on such positive results (Anderson et al., 2005; Martinez-Costa et al., 2003). The nature of motives and maturity of quality culture have been identified as strongest moderators on ISO effects of standards implementation (Terzowski, 2003). Institutional factors comprise the second group of motives of ISO 9000 standards implementation. Coercive, imitational and normative factors influence the diffusion of the standards affecting firm's decisions to implement them. Guler and Guillen (2002) results provide support that states and foreign multinationals are the key actors responsible for coercive isomorphism. Cohesive trade relationships between countries generate coercive and normative effects, and role-equivalent trade relationships result in learning-based and competitive imitation. Corbet (2006) used firm-level data of more than 5,000 firms in nine countries. He found that part of the global diffusion of ISO 9000 did move upstream in global supply chains. In Lithuania there were two surveys analyzing motives of ISO 9000 implementation. Urbonavičius (2005) used qualitative methods to analyze 193 small and medium organizations (65 in Estonia, 65 in Lithuania and 63 in Latvia). He found that institutional factors dominated decision to implement ISO 9000 standards (improvement of exports, possibility to participate in public tenders, and improvement of image). Ruževičius et al. surveyed 31 organizations and concluded that implementation decision was based on expectations that quality management systems "ensure constant quality level of products manufacturing", "help satisfy customer needs better", and "improve competitiveness of the company" (2003, p. 178). Because these surveys provide conflicting results, the objective of the paper is to survey the motives of ISO 9000 standards implementation in Lithuania. Literature analysis, and sample survey methods have been used to achieve the objective of the paper. In 2009 there were 991 organizations, which implemented ISO 9000 standards in Lithuania. 90 questionnaires have been processed after sending it to all sample. Results show mixed motives of implementation where institutional motives dominate. "We expected to be valued as more reliable partner" and "It was part of image shaping process" (adequately 2,62 and 2,44 in z scale, where stand. dev 0,18) dominate decision to adopt ISO 9000 in Lithuania. This shows that ISO standards are treated like rational myths (Meyer and Rowan, 1977). Lithuanian organizations implement standards while seeking to legitimate their action: signalling that they are aware of the contemporary quality assurance practices. Results are closer to Urbonavičius' (2005) study than to the findings of Ruževičius et. al. (2004).

This methodology is based on the combination of Romanticist, Phenomenological, Dialectical, Critical, and Post-structural hermeneutic systems of interpretation described by Demeterio III (2001). The specially designed content systematization technique, which describes the logical sequence of content construct identification and is based on Wilkinson's (1991) Key and Hook technique and Merkys's (2005) operationalization, was developed by using the dichotomous coding technique. The paper describes the methodology and the areas of its application. It also gives a practical example of its application in a research study. An integrated testing and development of the methodology was performed by investigating evaluation efficiency of business public relations. The paper introduces the context and scope of the applied procedure in the research. It also presents the data processing steps, the performed analysis and the key results. The presented research in this paper is discussed in three phases: input, implementation and impact assessment phases, where fragments of each are provided The article focuses on the narrative content.

The Engineering Economics, Mar 29, 2006

This problem has been tackled by working out different taxonomies of tools of strategic management and planning which include number of tools used for strategic analysis. Following the review of the available taxonomies it has been found that (1) they failed to encompass all tools classification criteria necessary for strategic analysis, (2) they were not oriented to the classification of strategic analysis tools and to the highlighting specific typological features of the tools used for strategic analysis. In this article the analysis of the available taxonomies performed enabled to select 41 tool to be used for strategic analysis which were later included into the “expert evaluation questionnaire of strategic analysis tools”. All of them were theoretically divided on the framework of certain classification attitude. During the study, the classification of tools to be used for theoretical strategic analysis has been studied in detail according to 19 classification criteria / indicators. By comparing practical and theoretical tools taxonomies the classification criteria were selected and analyzed in detail which are equally important both in practical and theoretical respect. On the framework of this the “questionnaire of strategic analysis tools expert evaluation” was formed. The correspondence survey of experts using anonymous questionnaire has been chosen for the study. As the result of this paper, it was stated that the evaluation of the tools of strategic analysis according to the 19 chosen criteria has been partly justified. By means of this study the tools can be classified according to 16 different features. Thus, the 41 tool typological model has been comprised for strategic analysis of the used tool. According to the judgment of the authors of this paper, this will give the possibility in the future not only to compare the above mentioned tools with each other, but also to include and position new tools to be used for strategic analysis. The typological model enables to form the groups of homogeneous tools of strategic analysis according to some specific criteria (sets or portfolios). Such groups can help to more fully study the tools of strategic analysis, as well as their investigation, research and modification. The designed typological model makes it possible to form individual portfolios of the tools of strategic analysis for the managers of various organizations according to the previously stated features or characteristics. By means of the designed model, the managers would be able to choose such tools that would be more informative. Besides, the organization executives would also be able to more easily choose the tools that would not duplicate the information of each other. This will allow the leaders to more effectively use the tools of strategic analysis. The typology of the strategic analysis designed for the organization leaders, especially the beginners, will let them more quickly and purposefully choose the tools for strategic analysis from a great variety of tools. This is especially important for the leaders of Lithuanian organizations, who make their first steps in the field of strategic management and planning. Such leaders have to choose the tools and their combinations to satisfy their needs and identify the specific situation of the enterprise.

It is an intentional algorithm that enables employees to know how and when to react as quickly as possible, according to the signal from the global environment received, within the limits of their area of expertise. This response phenomenon comes forth in the context of the functioning of a sustainable organization and highlights the coherence of the performance of a human resource. In order to maintain its competitiveness, each organization learns to react to the ongoing changes in the dynamic environment as quickly as possible and, in this process, develops action algorithms similar to human reflexes in structure. The possibility of inheritance in an organization is discussed in the theories associated with Sociobiology, Biological view in Strategic Management, Reductionism, Microfoundations, and the advanced experience of inheriting neural activity that can be found in Experimental Neuropsychology. Similarity and consolidation of differences incoming from these theories allowed for the theoretical development of a Reflexes model of an organization’s human resources response to the signals from the global environment. The analysis of organizational response to the signals incoming from the global environment and its reaction to the system’s activity have shown that an organization operates very similarly to the human reflex arc. Under the requirements of global market, managers expect their subordinates to be effortlessly managed, confident, dynamic in completion of assigned tasks, and ensuring maximum work efficiency. Such a possibility is theoretically analysed in this article by employing deductive thinking in interdisciplinary integration. The article describes the formation of employee emotional climate, which has impact on employee behaviour in individual as well as in team work, based on application of human resource evaluation factor with contribution of manipulations. Hypothetical presumptions resulted in assumptions that have shown dominance of disjunction (or); it means that interaction between alternatives is impossible. Therefore, logical interactions were prepared on the basis of deductive thinking by usage of Law (or principle) of the Excluded Third. These logical interactions resulted in models of emotional climate formation.

Modern science makes a great contribution to...

This insight allo...

Lithuania is associated with countries where a high level of shadow economy exists. This paper examines the issues of human capital development under conditions of shadow economy. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the power and effects of the Lithuanian shadow economy in the context of human capital and to assess the inter-dependence between the power of the shadow economy and human capital. The theoretical justification for research on the inter-dependence between the power of the shadow economy and human capital is based on the analysis of how changes in the human capital structure and indicators reflect the power of the shadow economy and vice versa. Theoretical analysis has been made on the main features and factors of shadow economy and possible tools of human capital evaluation. On the basis of theoretical findings, the model of shadow economy power has been created and using the linear regressi...
