Based on the assumption that today's market is an arena where only the best survive, this stu... more Based on the assumption that today's market is an arena where only the best survive, this study examines the sustainability of women-owned businesses by exploring the level of influence of selected variables on specific dimensions of companies' innovation capacities. Using two commonly applied methodologies for assessing innovation potential, the IMP³rove methodology and the Innovate methodology, a questionnaire was constructed and a survey was conducted on a sample of 104 companies from various industries and financial capabilities. The obtained results revealed that women entrepreneurs are aware that competitiveness depends on their ability to enhance innovation capacities, regardless of their annual income. However, those who have better business networking and measure the time from product introduction to profit achievement generate the highest overall revenue. Following the declaration of the state of emergency in Serbia, after the novel COVID-19 outbreak ... more Following the declaration of the state of emergency in Serbia, after the novel COVID-19 outbreak was declared a global pandemic, all the educational institutions in the country were closed, and the different modes of emergency remote teaching (ЕRТ) were introduced. In order to highlight the problems and attitudes of students, in regard to the newly introduced online-based emergency remote teaching model, we conducted a survey with high school students. The research question was how the unplanned switch from the traditional learning setting to online learning affected the learning practice, and what the outcomes of the integration of digital technology in education are. The aim of the study was to determine the best advantages and the biggest disadvantages of the introduced emergency remote teaching model, from the students’ point of view, during the initial phase of the teaching model implementation. The obtained results indicated the best advantages of the applied learning model in the domain of learning time management opportunities, and the biggest disadvantages in relation to the teaching and learning technical support problems and social distance. The results of this study could be used by policymakers and practitioners in order to prepare plans and programs for emergency remote teaching, and also to improve traditional teaching models.

According to the Denison Model, which the research presented in this paper leans on, mission and the consistency factor represent the stability factor of the organizational culture, a phenomenon of the essential importance for successful business. The aim of this paper is to present the presence of consistency in organizations in the Republic of Serbia through an empirical research and to analyse consistency differences in domestic and foreign companies. Organizational culture is developed on the foundations of national culture, hence noticing these differences is important in order to use the results to enhance organizational culture of domestic companies which, in times of transition, are often faced with survival challenges.

The review of renewable energy natural potential, on one hand, and installed capacity, on the other hand, in the Western Balkans and twenty-eight European countries is done within this research, as well as emissions. The analyses show that the European countries, sometimes even with lower natural potential in renewables, have installed much more renewable capacities than the Balkans countries with much higher natural potential. According to this, the first artificial intelligence model is developed based on multi-criteria linear regression analysis. This model relies on the correlation between the relevant regressors, i.e. relevant input variables for twenty-eight European countries and the same regressors for a particular Balkans country. The research is focused on the risk and integrity assessment of pressure equipment in a reversible hydro power plant in order to determine to what extent it poses a risk to Bajina Basta settlement and its inhabitants. The risk matrix has been used to assess risk level according to probability and consequence in a more descriptive way, whereas the failure assessment diagram has been used as an alternative engineering approach, including level II analysis.

The innovation of companies is of vital importance because it allows them to penetrate markets an... more The innovation of companies is of vital importance because it allows them to penetrate markets and provides better connections with emerging markets, which can lead to greater opportunities. Measuring innovation is an important activity both for theoretical and practical tests. This paper presents research on the innovation capacities of small and medium enterprises in Serbia according to the model consisting of 21 dimensions. The observed sample consists of 106 companies, of different sizes, whose activities are grouped into production and service activities. Similarities and differences in the innovative capacities of companies concerning their activity and in relation to their size were analyzed. The results of the research indicate the main problems that small and medium-sized enterprises are facing in order to improve their innovative capacities such as the market horizon, inadequate management systems, short-term planning, and insufficient connectivity with partners and academia.

Rezime: Kvalitet nastavnog procesa u velikoj meri zavisi od nastavnika i njihovih kvalifikacija-u... more Rezime: Kvalitet nastavnog procesa u velikoj meri zavisi od nastavnika i njihovih kvalifikacija-uloga nastavnika je veoma značajna za uspešnu implementaciju novih nastavnih metoda. Ovaj rad je deo kvantitativne studije ispitivanja iskustva nastavnika osnovnih škola u Srbiji o radu u modelu onlajn nastave realizovanom tokom pandemije COVID-19, u poređenju sa tradicionalnim modelom nastave. Cilj rada je da se na osnovu iskaza i stavova nastavnika sagleda i definiše profil nastavnika u odnosu na izbor nastavnog modela koji im više odgovara za rad: profil nastavnika koji preferiraju isključivo tradicionalni model nastave i profil nastavnika koji preferiraju onlajn model nastave ili ne prave razliku u radu između ova dva nastavna modela. Pretpostavka je bila da će nastavnici koji imaju manje godina radnog staža, više stručnog usavršavanja i viši stepen obrazovanja preferirati onlajn model nastave. Za potrebe istraživanja konstruisan je onlajn upitnik iz dva dela. Prvi deo upitnika odnosio se na socio-demografske podatke, a drugi na karakteristike nastavnog procesa u zavisnosti od primenjenog modela. Za procenu uticprethodnih obuka na izbor preferiranog modela nastave korišćen je t-test nezavisnih uzoraka. Istraživanje je sprovedeno tokom januara i februara 2021. godine. Uzorak istraživanja činilo je 609 predmetnih nastavnika. Rezultati istraživanja pokazuju da izbor tradicionalnog ili onlajn nastavnog modela zavisi od toga koliko se nastavnik oseća kompetentnim za izvođenje onlajn nastave i od dužine trajanja prethodne obuke u okviru redovnog stručnog usavršavanja iz oblasti IKT-a. Ideja lina je nastala u automobilskoj industriji, gde brze montažne linije i standardizovane radn... more Ideja lina je nastala u automobilskoj industriji, gde brze montažne linije i standardizovane radne procedure predstavljaju sasvim drugačije okruženje od škole. Ipak, u svetu je prepoznato da se principi lin razmišljanja u značajnoj meri mogu primeniti u velikom broju oblasti ljudskog delovanja. Svrha ovog rada je da prikaže kako se alati i principi lin filozofije mogu implementirati u oblasti obrazovanja i primeniti za poboljšanje efikasnosti. Kreatori obrazovnih politika u Srbiji predlažu različite modele koji će dovesti do uvećanja efikasnosti obrazovnog sistema, pri čemu može biti korisno razmotriti i lin pristup koji je u svetu pokazao svoje prednosti. Rad se zasniva na analizi relevantnih izvora naučne i stručne literature. Autorke su koristile pregled literature i primenu lina u obrazovanju na konkretnom primeru da bi objasnile odnos i između lin filozofije i obrazovanja, kako bi odgovorile na pitanja, kakve koristi savremene škole mogu očekivati od primene ove filozofije.

This article identifies the most prominent lean wastes in the education process in primary school... more This article identifies the most prominent lean wastes in the education process in primary schools in Serbia and the most efficient lean tools for their reduction. Objective: Lean management has been recognized as a valuable strategy suitable for application in various fields. Its implementation in the field of education has shown a rather slow progress, and the Serbian education system is not an exception. Idea: The idea of the research was to investigate the possible outcomes of the lean management implementation in primary schools in Serbia, and its possible benefits. Data: For this purpose, a specialized questionnaire concerning lean wastes and lean tools was designed intended for class and subject teachers. Tools: Statistical data analyses were used to determine the relationships between variables, and the Weighted Scoring method was applied to identify the most represented lean wastes in the education process, as well as the prioritization of lean tools. Findings: According to the results, the factor of the lean tools impact in regard to the lean wastes reduction was evaluated as "higher than 3" (on a scale of 1-5), which confirmed the efficiency of the considered lean tools in the lean wastes reduction. Also, the significant differences between the public and the private education sectors in terms of the lean application are shown, especially regarding the type of curriculum present (national or international). Contribution: The research has shown that lean management could be successfully applied in primary schools, in order to improve school organization and the teaching process flow, which highly contributes to the school's overall competitiveness. The guidelines for the lean management implementation are given as well as the recommendations to the creators of education policies. Certain limitations should be taken into account, regarding the restricted number of schools involved and specific sample group.

This is even more pronouced with fast technology development which one can witness in recent years. Also one can notice significant influence of globalisation leading to risk globalisation and wide spread of risk through all processes and projects, especially under conditions of world wide economic crises. Finally, enormous amount of information which should be handled in nowdays processes further increases risk in all our activities. Therefore, risk management is becoming more and more important and risk even becomes the most important criterion for decision making in complex processes. One example is large and complex oil company in a transition country, which is the focus of this paper. Namely, in this paper an investigation of all relevant factors influencing project risk management has been performed and results analysed by advanced statistical methods and presented through discussion and conclusions. It has been shown that successfull risk in a large and complex oil industry requires modern advanced methods, as used in this paper.

This paper identifies the potential of the international conferences market in order to promote tourism. This paper presents a survey of the attitudes and impressions of the visitors of a major scientific conference meeting held in Belgrade this year, which was conducted by analyzing a sample of 175 respondents from different countries. The basic assumptions deal with: the difference in the tourist motives for visiting a certain destination, where on one hand we have the motives of the population of scientists and on the other, the motives of the average population of tourists; the analysis of the destination and the analysis of the satisfaction and dissatisfaction of conference attenders with particular elements of touristic offer. The obtained results were found useful as a better evaluation of the conference and to emphasize it out as a viable touristic product.

Efficient machining using wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM) technology is a compromise b... more Efficient machining using wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM) technology is a compromise between cutting speed and resulting surface quality. Typical morphology of the surface machined by WEDM shows a plenty of craters caused by electrospark discharges produced during the cutting process. This work is focused on assessing the impact of machine setting parameters on quantitative and qualitative evaluation of the workpiece surface of aluminium alloy AlZn6Mg2Cu. Using metallography, the surface effects arisen during the process of wire spark erosion on cross-sections of preparations were studied. Using local spot EDX microanalysis, the chemical composition of the surfaces of the samples was studied. The attention was also paid to the highest height of profile of the craters, which were studied using 3D filtered images.

Corrosion effects on structural integrity and life of oil rig welded pipes are analysed by experi... more Corrosion effects on structural integrity and life of oil rig welded pipes are analysed by experimental, analytical, and numerical methods. Experiments were performed using standard tensile specimens and CT specimens for static loading, Charpy specimens for impact loading, and 3 Point Bending specimens for fatigue crack growth with amplitude loading. In each case new and old pipes were used to evaluate corrosion effects. Results indicated negligible corrosion effects in the case of tensile properties and impact toughness, and strong effects in the case of fracture toughness and especially fatigue crack growth rates, increasing the risk of static failure and reducing significantly structural life. Analytical expressions are used for oil rig pipe structural integrity and life assessment to quantify these effects. Recently introduced risk-based approach is applied to analyse oil rig drill pipe with a corrosion defect treated as a surface crack.
