The article contains answers to three "why" questions:-why the waste management system still does... more The article contains answers to three "why" questions:-why the waste management system still does not bring the expected results, and the Polish state is one of the lowest-ranking in the European score regarding the amount of segregated waste;-why the sale of selected secondary raw materials and their material reuse in production processes do not cover the costs related to waste management;-why it does not bring additional profits. The article is based on research conducted in Wroclaw from 1998 to 2018. There is a cost model that can be adapted to similar cases. The article deals with removing organisational and/or technical reasons causing the stagnation of selective waste collection.

Includes the identification and analysis of the vehicle recycling system using the example of bus... more Includes the identification and analysis of the vehicle recycling system using the example of buses in consideration of economic and business issues in Poland, specialising in the collection of cars/buses, their dismantling, segregation of materials and secondary use (recycling), given the regulatory changes proposed by the EU. The operations listed are interrelated. Reusing materials identical to their original purpose (including reuse of steel for car bodies) and assemblies from end-of-life vehicles (after possible reconditioning) can be applied as spare parts for repairs, subject to the observance of certain rules and the law. Life extension activities contribute to reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills. The paper presents a case for dismantling a bus.

Environmental protection, as rational shaping of the environment, management of environmental res... more Environmental protection, as rational shaping of the environment, management of environmental resources following the principle of sustainable development, and counteracting pollution, is integrally related to the urban area. Therefore, most activities and initiatives are aimed at environmental protection in the cities, which are the living environment for half of the world’s population. Therefore, the necessary action is to reduce the impact of urban transport on the environment. In particular, increased road traffic in urban areas is a constant increase in pollutants introduced into the environment in the form of solid, liquid and gaseous substances, harmful to people, the environment and spatial structures. One such negative impact of transport is the emission of CO2 into the atmosphere. In the process of limiting it, actions are taken to shape urban transport systems and the mobility of city residents. In order to identify individual processes that are components of these activities, literature research was carried out, the results of which are presented in the article.

Confirming this fact, there is a quick growth of information and communications technologies in the globalized economy. Nowadays, there is no escape from high technologies and innovative solutions. Intelligent information systems have stopped being futurological ideas. From year to year, more and more of them find their practical application and are bringing expected effects. What is more, intelligent information systems play an important role in processes of making optimum decisions. In the framework of theoretical considerations, the author makes an attempt to show the potential of intelligent information systems, as well as to perceive information as a special object of cognition. He presents interpretations of this notion and shows its properties.
A great deal of packaging made of PET is observed in logistics supply chains, and the article is ... more A great deal of packaging made of PET is observed in logistics supply chains, and the article is mainly concerned with food – bottles. Implementing the EU’s “zero-waste” guidelines implies action on the part of producers of packaging and food for B2C distribution to find new solutions to enable the above-mentioned stakeholders in the logistics supply chain to balance the business mentioned above parties – taking into account environmental protection. The article discusses the tasks and possibilities under the above conditions of a new type of “RECYCLER” companies, which, at the end of the life of PET packaging, i.e. after the foodstuffs in PET bottles have been consumed, produce a recyclate and return it to re-production. In several journals, including, e.g. (Połednik et al. 2016, Topiarzová et al. 2011), respecting good recycling practices – there is an ongoing discussion on the sense of introducing reusable packaging, deposits, etc. This article discusses the barriers to recovery in a multi-level plastics recovery system, with specific reference to the operation of a PET bottle recycling line, and presents a pre-verified concept for a method to increase the efficiency of separating PET bottles from the plastics fraction in a multi-level waste separation system.

Zagadnienia te są tym bardziej złożone, że obecna sytuacja polityczna w Europie zmienia się szybciej niż warunki gospodarcze. Należy zaakceptować fakt, że wskutek problemów w polityce i gospodarce Unii Europejskiej, proces akceptacji założeń nowej polityki spójności może zostać wydłużony, a planowane priorytety mogą zmienić pozycję w hierarchii. Tak więc, przyszłość zrównoważonego transportu zależy od tego, jakie działania obecnie zostaną podjęte. Celem artykułu jest próba przedstawienia problematyki dotyczącej zrównoważonego transportu w aspekcie europejskiej polityki spójności. Rozważania nie wyczerpują poruszanej problematyki. Wskazują jedynie na wielowymiarowość i wieloaspektowość rozpatrywanego zagadnienia, stanowiąc przyczynek do dalszych badań w tym zakresie.

Optymalność tych zagadnień wyraża się w poprawnym organizowaniu zadań całego systemu, umożliwiającym odpowiednie wykorzystanie infrastruktury technicznej i środków transportowych biorących udział w procesie przemieszczania. There is abundant worldwide research conducted on the subject of the methods of human respiration... more There is abundant worldwide research conducted on the subject of the methods of human respiration process examination. However, many of these studies describe methods and present the results while often lacking insight into the hardware and software aspects of the devices used during the research. This paper’s goal is to present new equipment for assessing the parameters of human respiration, which can be easily adopted for daily diagnosis. This work deals with the issue of developing the correct method of obtaining measurement data. The requirements of the acquisition parameters are clearly pointed out and examples of the medical applications of the described device are shown. Statistical analysis of acquired signals proving its usability is also presented. In the examples of selected diseases of the Upper Respiratory Tract (URT), the advantages of the developed apparatus for supporting the diagnosis of URT patency have been proven.
