"An Instructional Strategy Framework for Online Learning Environments" (Scott D. Johnson, Steven R. Aragon) discusses the pitfalls of modeling online courses after traditional instruction instead of incorporating a design that takes advantage of the unique capabilities of web-based learning environments and presents a conceptual framework to guide the development of online courses that includes specific, detailed.examples of instructional strategies that fit the framework. "Using Online Learning to Meet Workforce Demand: A Case Study of Stakeholder Influence" (Angela Benson) investigates how stakeholder interests influenced one large southeastern state's efforts to provide online, undergraduate degree programs to meet workforce needs and-demonstrates how the negotiation of consenting and conflicting stakeholder group interests resulted in the prevailing of the interests of some stakeholder groups at the expense of the interests of others. "Models for Human Resource Development Online Programs" (Phoebe E. Lenear, Scott D. Johnson) examined the student support services, educational technologies, and program models used to deliver and support online HRD programs in six higher education institutions across the United States. This article attempts to verify some assumptions evident in the scenario planning literature thro... more This article attempts to verify some assumptions evident in the scenario planning literature through the application of quantitative measures. The Dimensions of the Learning Organization Questionnaire is used to measure participant perceptions of the learning organization characteristics pre-and post-scenario planning intervention. Results are discussed, limitations are identified and clarified, and conclusions are drawn with speculations and refinements for future research.

Understanding trends and indicators emerging today helps us to proactively think about potential future developments and positions us to constructively shape them. This article reports on a survey of 55 human resource development (HRD) and HRD-related practitioners and academics who identified trends, variables, and challenges that they believe are affecting and will affect the profession during the next 15 to 20 years.

Insights from these extraordinary business leadership experiences largely remain in the form of uncaptured oral histories. Yet they are inspiring stories of practices and principles of truly responsible leadership. This study begins to unveil some of the insights emerging from a multi-year inquiry into the nature of this lived experience of business leadership.

Recent research focusing on Human Resource Development (HRD) in East Asia is attracting increasin... more Recent research focusing on Human Resource Development (HRD) in East Asia is attracting increasing attention. The purpose of the study is to explore the definition and practice of HRD, together with influencing cultural factors, in Mainland China, Taiwan, and Japan. The results indicate a difference in the definition and implementation of HRD among these three areas, and that the nature and role of HRD are influenced by cultural factors specific to each region examined.
