The aims were to determine a 10 year cardiac nsk score for IHD in patients following OLT and to determine the prevalence of IHD risk tactors. 110 consecutive adults attending for review following OLT (median follow-up 3.3 years range 0.1 -17.1) were assessed for cardiovascular risk using current blood pressure, diabetic status, and .me.asurements of cholesterol and HDL-cholesterol. A 10-year cardiac riSK score for IHD was calculated using the Framingham equation. The median calculated 10-year risk oflHD in all patients was 7.7 % (ran~ 0.1 -37.5%) and the median calculated relative risk for IH.D was 20% lower by comparison with a standard Framingham risk group. There were 10 diabetics and 21 known h~oe~nsiv~ in the 110 patients (49 male; mean age 53.0 yrs.], t<aiseo cnolesteroJ (cholesterol • 5.0 mmol/I) was present in 46 (42%) patients (17 male; mean age 55.3 yrs.). Patients on Cyclosporin had a higher mean serum cholesterol compared to those on FK506 (5.11-v 4.55, p-0:038) and p~ents on Prednisolone had a higher mean serum cnolesterol than mose who were not (5.39 v 4.80, p=0.046). Systolic hypertension (> 140 mmHg) was present in 69 patients (39 male; mean age 55.6 yrs.). Our patients have a relatively low risk of IHD over a 10-year period. Raised cholesterol concentrations are as prevalent in our study compared to previous reports. The main mooifiame risk rector mr IHU m our patients is systolic hypertension.
