A descriptive survey research design was employed where quantitative and qualitative approaches were used to collect and analyze data. Data were collected from 512 grade 12 students, seven principals and seven districts (Woredas) educational heads. The study used both descriptive statistics and inferential statistics (Pearson correlation and logistic regression). The study revealed that few female students enroll in high schools which in-turn affects the number that enroll in university education as compared to male students. Students lack access to adequate toilets and water while libraries lack books and reference materials. Besides, in most of the school laboratories we not equipped or they had been converted in dormitories. The study also found that sex, life...

A survey design was employed where 665 final year university students from five universities were randomly selected as participants. Quantitative data were collected through self-evaluation survey questionnaire and analyzed using Pearson Correlation and Logistic Regression. Additionally, data from open-ended questions were used to identify factors which influence students’ entrepreneurial behavior. The study found high entrepreneurial intention for final year university students in Ethiopia, but, low propensity to venture into business within two years after graduating. Findings from the Logistic Regression analysis found strong support for perceived feasibility, perceived desirability and course support as predictors of entrepreneurial intention, and to some extent perceived locus of c...

The study used exploratory research designs. Specifically, the study reviewed literature related to the development of knowledge management in connection with library digitization, the dynamic role played by the librarians in utilizing knowledge management in library digitization and the benefits and limitations of library digitization. Digitization of libraries has been witnessed globally due to the impact of technological growth and the demand of users that keep changing due to their needs and interests. Today’s modern libraries depend mostly on electronic resources that are highly diversified in terms of products and services that they offer. The concept of knowledge management has been adapted in modern libraries worldwide because of the need to manage library resources in digital forms that need special scientific attention. Knowledge management has increasingly become v...

An exploratory study design was used where 166 high school female students and 88 first year university female students participated in the study. Questionnaires consisting mainly of open-ended questions were used. Data analysis employed descriptive statistics, and categorization for open-ended questions. Findings from high school female students showed that they prefer universities that are nearer home, so as: to maintain social connections, ensure security and family support. Findings showed that high school female students worry about socialization issues, finance management, language, sexual harassment, staff-student relation and academic. On transition experience, result showed that university students relied on parents’ support, friends and senior studen...

Design: The study employed a descriptive survey research design. Place and Duration of Study: The study was conducted in four divisions and one administrative town in Wolaita zone from November 2018 to April 2019. Methodology: Data were obtained from 150 household heads purposively selected to respond to a household survey. Additionally, eight focus group discussions were held with 84, 3 rd and 4 th grade teachers. Data were analyzed using both descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation and Multiple linear regression using SPSS software version 20.0. Results: Findings revealed that child-labor is still common in Wolaita Zone. Results indicated that over three quarters of the sampled households engage their children in paid or unpaid work. The correlation analysis revealed that younger household heads and those with better education, Origina...

Study Design: A descriptive survey research design was employed. Place and Duration of Study: The study was conducted in ten schools selected from four divisions and one administrative town in Wolaita zone from January 2017 to February 2018. Methodology: Data were obtained from 120 students (6-8 graders), who were randomly selected to respond to the questionnaire while interviews were conducted with 10 principals. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson Correlation and Linear Regression. Results: Findings revealed that children combined work and schooling where main activities included; doing household chores, carrying materials in the town, agricultural activities (cultivating), hotel work and selling lottery tickets. Reasons for engaging in child labor were linked to poverty, need to help the family, parents’ low education...

Six primary schools such as Shola Kuto, Waja Kero, Waraza Gerera and Ofa Gandaba from Sodo Zuria District and Abiyot Chora and Ligaba in Sodo Town were purposively selected taking into account their rich teaching learning experiences. About 85 teachers (48 male and 37 female) out of 263 teachers were selected using simple random sampling technique. Both primary and secondary data sources were used to generate quantitative data types. Primary data were gathered from teachers through structured questionnaire using interview schedule. The collected data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics (percentage, frequencies, mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics such as chi-square test, crosstab, correlation and binary logit model. Crosstab analysis, correlation analysis and binary logit model results showed that effective implementation of collegial coaching in schools was affected by lack of trust among teachers and between teachers and school administrators, unwillingness of teachers to work in collegiality, management style applied in schools and lack of effective communication and interpersonal relationship. The study recommends a holistic approach which includes providing training for teachers on collegial coaching practices, developing trust, communication and interpersonal skills, allocating time and resources for collegial practices, supervising classroom teaching and giving nonjudgmental feedbacks.

Pooled cross-sectional time-series farm level data collected in the Basin are used to estimate univariate and bivariate probit models. Results show that the decision to plant La Fleur 11 and to use chemical fertilizer on groundnuts is independent from each other. Adoption of La Fleur 11 was positively associated with ownership of draft power, but negatively related to farmer’s experience and location. Fertilizer use was positively affected by farm size, the number of plots and location, and negatively affected by access to off-farm income and ownership of draft power. Results suggest a need to tailor the diffusion of productivity enhancing inputs to area specific conditions and to design technology adoption strategies within a broader policy environment.
