Nowadays, the issue of energy efficiency in the maritime transportation sector has been strongly ... more Nowadays, the issue of energy efficiency in the maritime transportation sector has been strongly associated with the decreasing use of fossil energy and greenhouse gas emissions. Crew boats are one of the ship modes which consumes a lot of fuel in maritime transportation. This affects the number of exhaust gases released into the atmosphere. A study into the estimation of crew boat resistance was carried out experimentally using a towing tank, numerically using a CFD methodology, and then compared with Savitsky's method. Measurements were taken in calm waters under even keel and trim scenarios, considering load variation had been adjusted for. Determining the correct load position affected the LCG (Longitudinal Center of Gravity) and VCG (Vertical Center of Gravity) parameters, affected trim, and decreased crew boat resistance. Overall results showed that the experimental test, CFD method, and the empirical estimation from Savitsky were in good agreement with average errors up to 3%. The calculation results demonstrated that trim had a greater influence on decreasing resistance up to 3.062% than even keel position. Furthermore, the shifting of LCG had a more significant effect than that of VCG in the context of resistance changes.

Pesatnya perkembangan industri di Indonesia masih menyisakan beberapa daerah terpencil dalam kead... more Pesatnya perkembangan industri di Indonesia masih menyisakan beberapa daerah terpencil dalam keadaan belum teraliri listrik, salah satunya yaitu Kabupaten Kepulauan Selayar, Sulawesi Selatan. Menanggapi hal tersebut, penggunaan energi terbarukan; energi panas matahari dapat dijadikan solusi kurangnya pemerataan pembangunan pembangkit listrik pada daerah terpencil tersebut. Dengan memanfaatkan kondisi geografis Kepulauan Selayar yang dikelilingi laut, hal tersebut dapat didesain Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Surya Apung (PLTSA) yang terdiri dari barge dengan lambung katamaran sebagai media apung dari panel surya dan inverter sehingga nantinya satu PLTSA dapat memenuhi kebutuhan listrik pada beberapa kecamatan walaupun berada di pulau yang berbeda. Dengan menggunakan grid-tie system, pasokan listrik yang dihasilkan dapat langsung dialirkan ke grid PLN daerah setempat. Berdasarkan informasi dan kebutuhan listrik di Kabupaten Kepulauan Selayar, dibutuhkan sekitar 4 barge dengan 2410 unit panel surya dan 4 inverter pada tiap kapalnya untuk memenuhi kebutuhan daya listrik per hari sebesar 1.849.362,051 W. Ukuran utama kapal yang didapatkan adalah L = 164 m, B = 42 m, H = 4,2 m, T = 1,2 m. Dari ukuran utama kapal tersebut, didapatkan perhitungan analisis teknis, analisis ekonomis, analisis sensitivitas, serta gambar Lines Plan, General Arrangement, dan 3D Modeling.

The maneuvering performance becomes important to the safety of navigation when a ship operates. In case of vessel turning motion, International Maritime Organization (IMO) requires the maximum tactical diameter is five times of the ship lengths. Tactical diameter is the distance travelled by the ship’s center of gravity in a parallel direction to the ship’s initial path. In this paper, semi-empirical approach proposed by Clarke (1983) was used to obtain the first derivative of hydrodynamics equation. Hull-shape optimization, hull cleaning and coating, and the use of appendages are, among others, well-known efforts to reduce ship fuel consumption. Regarding energy efficiency and environmental sustainability, it is possible to effectively reduce the resistance of an existing catamaran by retrofitting a foil system to it. In this study, a foil system is designed and retrofitted to a catamaran to reduce its total resistance. Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes simulations, utilizing k-w SST turbulence model, were performed to study the effects of the foil system on the vessel’s total resistance. Free surface effects were modelled, i.e., the generation of waves due to the vessel’s movement on the water surface. Biawak terletak di laut jawa di Kabupaten Indramayu Jawa Barat di sebelah utara semenanjung Indra... more Biawak terletak di laut jawa di Kabupaten Indramayu Jawa Barat di sebelah utara semenanjung Indramayu seitar 40 kilometer dari pantai utara Indramayu. Pulau biawak adalah salah satu tempat pariwisata yang menarik untuk dikunjungi, daratan seluas 120 hektare kaya akan dengan tanaman bakau, pesona laut yang masih 'perawan', disini terdapat mercusuar juga yang masih berfungsi yang didirikan sejak zaman Belanda dan terdapat juga ikon pulau ini yaitu hewan varanus salvator atau biawak yang sering kita sebut dan wisata lainnya. Sehingga sekarang banyak wisatawan dari daerah luar Kabupaten Indramayu seperti Jakarta, Cirebon dan bahkan luar Jawa Barat yang menuju Pulau Biawak setiap harinya, sehingga sangat sedikit kapal yang melayani para wisatawan. Hal ini menyebabkan berbagai macam persoalan dalam transportasi angkutan wisata, seperti kapal yang tidak terpenuhi, perjalanan yang sangat lama dan kurangnya keselamatan penumpang menuju Pulau Biawak. Oleh sebab itu diperlukan sarana transportasi laut untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut,. Pada studi ini dilakukan analisis teknis dan ekonomis dengan menggunakan kapal pembanding yang diperiksa kembali batasan-batasannya sesuai dengan daerah pelayaran yang mempunyai kedalaman rata-rata 2 meter. Berdasarkan analisis yang telah dilakukan didapatkan ukuran optimal bis air, yaitu L= 10.4 m, B= 4.7m, H= 1.2 m dan T= 0.3 m. Dari ukuran tersebut kemudian dibuat Lines Plan, General Arrangement dan Safety Plan.

This research begins by calculating the value of drag and lift on the three variations of the after body’s mini submarine. The first variation as the initial design is rudder and stern plane arranged perpendicularly or named the+ Stern. Then for the second variation made changes to the arrangement of rudder and stern plane in the after body of the mini submarine with + Stern arrangement, the rudder arranged each other crossed so that it resembles the letter X and called the X-Stern arrangement. The effect of resistance interference on catamarans was investigated experimentally. The model hu... more The effect of resistance interference on catamarans was investigated experimentally. The model hull forms comprise a symmetrical catamaran along with laterally separated and longitudinally staggered demihull configurations. To this aim, a series of tests on the models were conducted at the Towing Tank of the Indonesia Hydrodynamic Laboratory (IHL) over a speed range corresponding to Froude numbers of up to 0.65. In this paper, experimental results are presented in tabular and graphical form and the resistance characteristics and interference effects are discussed and compared with other published data. The test results show that favourable interference has been observed around Fr> 0.5 for the hull clearance and around Fr = 0.4 – 0.55 for the staggered catamarans. These results may prove useful for designers at the conceptual or preliminary design stages.

Moreover, if the ship operates in a narrow shipping lane, as experienced by SPUB that operated in Musi River. This research focuses on the experimental process of SPUB maneuvers in open water, especially for the turning circles' movement. The experiment was conducted using a prototype, model SPB-XXOO, which was equipped with components of the instrumentation system such as data logger and propulsion system. Both are integrated into the remote control and computer to perform control functions, calculations, data logging, and data transfer through the wireless communication system. The main controller of the propulsion system is an implanted program to deflect the rudder automatically. Three rudder models with variations in aspect ratios of 1.10, 1.65, and 2.20, also two variations of the rudder angle; 30o and 35o are used to test the model. GPS does the data acquisition process for each experimental process. Based on the analysis of the rudder model's effect, it was found that a rudder with a large aspect ratio provides better performance than a lower aspect ratio. The average increase in the maneuver performance of the rudder with the smallest to the most significant aspect ratio is 17.345%.

Perlombaan ini mendorong para peserta untuk berinovasi dalam menghasilkan kapal dengan performa keseluruhan yang baik dari segi hambatan, propulsi, maneuvering, dan efisinesi sistem elektrik. Melihat iklim riset dalam perlombaan dan berdasarkan pengalaman/keikutsertaan tim HYDRONE ITS dalam HYDROCONTEST 2017, dilakukan proses desain kapal yang akan digunakan tim HYDRONE ITS dalam HYDROCONTEST 2018 dimana dalam proses desain ini juga dilakukan analisa CFD pada 3 variasi bentuk haluan kapal dan optimisasi sistem propulsi (pitch propeller dan RPM) agar kapal memiliki kecepatan dan endurance yang optimal. Dari proses penelitian ini, diperoleh desain kapal monohull dengan haluan berupa axe bow dengan estimasi kecepatan maksimal 5.25 m/s dan jumlah jarak tempuh maksimum 24 lap lintasan tanpa mengisi ulang baterai.

Salah satu komponen teknologi kapal selam yang perlu dikembangkan untuk mencapai maneuver yang baik adalah komponen hydroplane yang tersusun pada bagian after body kapal selam. Kapal selam itu dapat melakukan olah gerak vertikal mapun horizontal dengan menggunakan sistem kendali gerak (hydroplane). Ukuran geometri dan bentuk lambung dari kapal selam mempengaruhi karakteristik maneuver kapal selam. Untuk mencapai karakteristik maneuver yang diinginkan diperlukan perancangan ulang sistem kendali hydroplane. Pulau biawak adalah salah satu tempat pariwisata yang menarik untuk dikunjungi, daratan seluas 120 hektare kaya akan dengan tanaman bakau, pesona laut yang masih 'perawan', disini terdapat mercusuar juga yang masih berfungsi yang didirikan sejak zaman Belanda dan terdapat juga ikon pulau ini yaitu hewan varanus salvator atau biawak yang sering kita sebut dan wisata lainnya. Sehingga sekarang banyak wisatawan dari daerah luar Kabupaten Indramayu seperti Jakarta, Cirebon dan bahkan luar Jawa Barat yang menuju Pulau Biawak setiap harinya, sehingga sangat sedikit kapal yang melayani para wisatawan. Hal ini menyebabkan berbagai macam persoalan dalam transportasi angkutan wisata, seperti kapal yang tidak terpenuhi, perjalanan yang sangat lama dan kurangnya keselamatan penumpang menuju Pulau Biawak. Oleh sebab itu diperlukan sarana transportasi laut untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut,. Pada studi ini dilakukan analisis teknis dan ekonomis dengan menggunakan kapal pembanding yang diperiksa kembali batasan-batasannya sesuai dengan daerah pelayaran yang mempunyai kedalaman rata-rata 2 meter. Berdasarkan analisis yang telah dilakukan didapatkan ukuran optimal bis air, yaitu L= 10.4 m, B= 4.7m, H= 1.2 m dan T= 0.3 m. Dari ukuran tersebut kemudian dibuat Lines Plan, General Arrangement dan Safety Plan.

The effect of resistance interference on catamarans was investigated experimentally. The model hu... more The effect of resistance interference on catamarans was investigated experimentally. The model hull forms comprise a symmetrical catamaran along with laterally separated and longitudinally staggered demihull configurations. To this aim, a series of tests on the models were conducted at the Towing Tank of the Indonesia Hydrodynamic Laboratory (IHL) over a speed range corresponding to Froude numbers of up to 0.65. In this paper, experimental results are presented in tabular and graphical form and the resistance characteristics and interference effects are discussed and compared with other published data. The test results show that favourable interference has been observed around Fr> 0.5 for the hull clearance and around Fr = 0.4 – 0.55 for the staggered catamarans. These results may prove useful for designers at the conceptual or preliminary design stages.

Moreover, if the ship operates in a narrow shipping lane, as experienced by SPUB that operated in Musi River. This research focuses on the experimental process of SPUB maneuvers in open water, especially for the turning circles' movement. The experiment was conducted using a prototype, model SPB-XXOO, which was equipped with components of the instrumentation system such as data logger and propulsion system. Both are integrated into the remote control and computer to perform control functions, calculations, data logging, and data transfer through the wireless communication system. The main controller of the propulsion system is an implanted program to deflect the rudder automatically. Three rudder models with variations in aspect ratios of 1.10, 1.65, and 2.20, also two variations of the rudder angle; 30o and 35o are used to test the model. GPS does the data acquisition process for each experimental process. Based on the analysis of the rudder model's effect, it was found that a rudder with a large aspect ratio provides better performance than a lower aspect ratio. The average increase in the maneuver performance of the rudder with the smallest to the most significant aspect ratio is 17.345%.

Perlombaan ini mendorong para peserta untuk berinovasi dalam menghasilkan kapal dengan performa keseluruhan yang baik dari segi hambatan, propulsi, maneuvering, dan efisinesi sistem elektrik. Melihat iklim riset dalam perlombaan dan berdasarkan pengalaman/keikutsertaan tim HYDRONE ITS dalam HYDROCONTEST 2017, dilakukan proses desain kapal yang akan digunakan tim HYDRONE ITS dalam HYDROCONTEST 2018 dimana dalam proses desain ini juga dilakukan analisa CFD pada 3 variasi bentuk haluan kapal dan optimisasi sistem propulsi (pitch propeller dan RPM) agar kapal memiliki kecepatan dan endurance yang optimal. Dari proses penelitian ini, diperoleh desain kapal monohull dengan haluan berupa axe bow dengan estimasi kecepatan maksimal 5.25 m/s dan jumlah jarak tempuh maksimum 24 lap lintasan tanpa mengisi ulang baterai.

Salah satu komponen teknologi kapal selam yang perlu dikembangkan untuk mencapai maneuver yang baik adalah komponen hydroplane yang tersusun pada bagian after body kapal selam. Kapal selam itu dapat melakukan olah gerak vertikal mapun horizontal dengan menggunakan sistem kendali gerak (hydroplane). Ukuran geometri dan bentuk lambung dari kapal selam mempengaruhi karakteristik maneuver kapal selam. Untuk mencapai karakteristik maneuver yang diinginkan diperlukan perancangan ulang sistem kendali hydroplane. Penelitian ini diawali dengan membuat variasi bentuk after body kapal selam dan memprediksi lintasan gerak melingkar kapal selam.
