Surgical intervention is required for ACL tears as it restores the knee function and it prevents early osteoarthritis. In the recent research there is increasing use of bone marrow aspirate concentrate in orthopaedics. Bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC) provides mesenchymal stem cells progenitor cells and growth factors which has potential benefits in hamstring graft healing after ACL reconstruction. Methods: This was a prospective randomized case control study carried out between May 2017 and June 2020. 30 patients between age group of 18 to 40 years with complete ACL tear were divided into two groups which consisted of the control group in which only ACL reconstruction was done and second group in which ACL reconstruction was done augmenting it with bone marrow aspirate concentrate. For the BMAC group, 3 ml of BMAC was obtained in the operation theatre itself and was injected int...

For the first time since the 1960s, new and novel drugs and regimens for all forms of TB are emerging. Such regimens are likely to utilize both repurposed drugs and new chemical entities, and several of these regimens are now progressing through clinical trials. This article covers current concepts and recent advances in TB drug discovery and development.

In extension, the sequential multicomponent reaction of epoxides, azide and alkynes using copper catalysis has been discussed. The reaction proceeds via the in situ generation of azido-alcohol followed by synthesis of chiral b-hydroxytriazoles. This [3 ? 2] cycloaddition reaction of azide and alkyne using copper catalysis serves as a green and efficient protocol in ''Click Chemistry''. The nucleophilic addition of azide to epoxide and alkyne-azide cycloaddition is the two simultaneous regioselective click reactions observed in the proposed method.

Laparoscopy represents a considerable advance in the early and accurate diagnosis and management of pelvic pathologic conditions. Laparoscopy now provides the gynecologist valuable information necessary for the choice of treatment in case of adnexal pathology. The present study carried out with the objective to evaluate the role of laparoscopy in diagnosis of adnexal pathology and management of it. METHODOLOGY: The present prospective study carried among women attending outpatient department of gynecology having Adnexal pathology at tertiary care center located in Maharashtra over the period of two years. The data analyzed for frequency distributions showing number and percentages were generated for each identified variables. RESULTS: Total 32 laparoscopies were performed in patients who attended the gynecology department over a period of 2 years. The majority having suspected ectopic pregnancy (37.5%) & ovarian cyst (37.5%).The majority of patients came with history of abdominal pain (62.5%) and lump in abdomen (21.87%). Most common laparoscopic procedure carried out for tubal ectopic pregnancies in study was salpingectomy (55.50%) and Cystectomy (53%) was done for ovarian mass. Difficulties encountered during laparoscopic procedure were removal of large adnexal masses (3.1%) and misplaced IUCD (3.1%).The complication observed was drainage of cyst (6.2%)during intraoperative while pain in abdomen (25%), vomiting (9%) post-operative procedure of laparoscopy. CONCLUSION: The study concludes for evaluation and management of adnexal pathology laparoscopy should be considered the method of choice as it offers the advantages of fewer postoperative adhesions, reduced pain, technically feasible, safe, and better cosmetic results.

The optimum process parameters were determined based on their influence on the thickness variation at different regions of the blank material. Three important process parameters i.e., punch nose radius, die shoulder radius and blankholder force were investigated in this study. Plan of experiments based on Taguchi’s technique were used for acquiring the data. An orthogonal array, the signal to noise ratio and the analysis of variance were employed to investigate the deep drawability characteristics. Influence on thickness due to variation of these parameters was individually evaluated in terms of percentage. The results showed that the blankholder force (56.98%) was the most significant parameter followed by punch nose radius (30.12%) and the least influence (12.90%) was with die profile ra...

T... more Efalizumab is an immunosuppressive agent that has been approved for the treatment of psoriasis. There has been mounting evidence that efalizumab may be associated with lymphoma/malignancy development. To our knowledge, this is the first documented case of a patient who developed Epstein Barr Virus-associated large B cell lymphoma after treatment with efalizumab for psoriasis. As immunosuppressive medications such as efalizumab get increasingly prescribed, the likelihood of seeing various malignancies will increase. Thus, physicians need to have a high index of suspicion for malignancy in patients on immunosuppressive medications like efalizumab.

Interparameter crosstalk and near source detector artifacts are major source of inaccuracies in DOT images. In this work we investigate the effect of various objective functional definitions and measurement types on performance of image reconstruction algorithm. Special attention is paid to measurement data types appropriate for handling experimental limitations and inaccuracies. We propose a method of selecting optimal objective functional by visualizing objective functionals in two parameter space using single inclusion DOT problem. Using our method we synthesize a new objective functional for our sample DOT problem. The proposed objective functionals provide minimum inter-parameter crosstalk with negligible near source detector artifacts. Limited memory quasi-Newtonian algorithm is used for image reconstruction. Synthetic data is used to demonstrate effect of various objective functionals on image reconstruction and the superiority of the proposed objective functional.

The biomaterial in the form of an aqueous extract of mesocarp of the fruit of the Balanites roxburghii plant as a natural surfactant reaction medium has been employed for phytosynthesis with quantitative yield at 60 C. The reaction proceeds effortlessly in a short reaction time with easy product formation. The fluorescence property of some synthesized compounds was studied, along with the interesting solvatochromic behaviour of 2-amino-N-benzylbenzamide

Research paper thumbnail of Label-Free In-Flow Detection of Single DNA Molecules using Glass Nanopipettes

Analytical Chemistry, 2014

With the view of enhancing the functionality of label-free single molecule nanopore-based detecti... more With the view of enhancing the functionality of label-free single molecule nanopore-based detection, we have designed and developed a highly robust, mechanically stable, integrated nanopipette-microfluidic device which combines the recognized advantages of microfluidic systems and the unique properties/advantages of nanopipettes. Unlike more typical planar solid-state nanopores, which have inherent geometrical constraints, nanopipettes can be easily positioned at any point within a microfluidic channel. This is highly advantageous, especially when taking into account fluid flow properties. We show that we are able to detect and discriminate between DNA molecules of varying lengths when motivated through a microfluidic channel, upon the application of appropriate voltage bias across the nanopipette. The effects of applied voltage and volumetric flow rates have been studied to ascertain translocation event frequency and capture rate. Additionally, by exploiting the advantages associated with microfluidic systems (such as flow control and concomitant control over analyte concentration/presence), we show that the technology offers a new opportunity for single molecule detection and recognition in microfluidic devices.
