However, the learning process in schools has not fully implemented learning models that can improve students' communication skills. Learning in schools is still teacher-centered, lack of use of Information Technology (IT), students’ inactivity, and their lack of interest in learning in class. The solution is to apply the PBL learning model in IT interventions. The research objective was to develop students' communication skills. It was a descriptive research by using qualitative approach. It was conducted in SMAN 4 Padang. Based on data analysis, results of this preliminary research are: First, practice guidance used in school has not been arranged systematically. It is still in form of students worksheets. Second, it does not have complete components, such as cover and supporting materials. Third, it is not valid, practical and effective. Fourth, it does not implement learning approach and model to improve students' motivation and skills. Fifth, SETS (Science, Environment, Technology, Society)-based Biology learning materials is not available. Sixth, which is expected to be able to train students' integrative skill in four components (Science, Environment, Technology, Society) has not been optimally trained.

An effort to overcome the problem is by using Sheet PowerPoint in Mind Map in learning process. Purpose of the research was to know the effect of Sheet PowerPoint in Mind Map towards students' cognitive competence. It was a quasi experimental research. The population was all of grade VIII students in SMPN 5 Bukittinggi registered in first semester in academic year 2016/2017. The sample was taken by using purposive sampling technique. As a result, VIII 3 was as experimental class and VIII 2 was as control class. The instruments used were multiple-choice test and observation sheets. To test hypotheses, technique of data analysis used was T-test. Based on the finding of data analysis and discussion, it is concluded that cognitive competence of students who learned by using Sheet PowerPoint in Mind Map is better than students who learned without using Sheet PowerPoint in Mind Map.

To increase rice production, various efforts have been made, one of which is seed priming using biofertilizers. Biofertilizer or biological fertilizer uses microorganisms that are used as plant growth boosters. The microorganisms used to act as PGPF (Plant Growth Promoting Fungi) are Trichoderma spp. Trichoderma spp. widely used because it can trigger plant growth. This study aims to determine the response of Trichoderma spp. to the seed vigor index and dry weight of rice sprouts of sirandah batuampa variety. The research method is experimental research using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 6 treatments and 3 replications. Parameters observed were seed vigor index and sprouts dry weight. The results showed that Trichoderma spp. had no significant effect on seed vigor index and sprouts dry weight. This research was conducted in four locations in West Sumatera i.e Solok, Bukittinggi, Pariaman and Pesisir Selatan. The local rice genotypes used were Ciredek, Anak Daro, Randah Putiah, Cantiak Manih, Mundam, Bakwan and Sarai Sarumpun. The randomized block design was used in each location. Observations was focused on grain physical quality which was grouped into 5 categories, i.e head grain, broken grain, chalky grain, brewers grain and damage grain. Observation on rice quality was done in Plant Physiology Laboratory of Biology department at Padang State University. The data obtained was analyzed by inserted ANOVA and continued with DNMRT test at 5% error level.The results showed that interaction genotype and location affect the physical quality. Jamur ini juga mampu mengendalikan penyakit dan menghasilkan zat pengatur tumbuh, sehingga potensial digunakan dalam pertaniankhususnya dalam budidaya pertanian organik. Penelitian kemampuan Trichoderma spp dalam meningkatkan pertumbuhan benih padi masih terbatas. Penelitian ini, melaporkan kemampuan Trichoderma setempat untuk meningkatkan poertumbuhan kecambah benih padi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa isolat Trichoderma mampu meningkatkan daya kecambah dan vigor benih padi. Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa isolat Trichoderma indegenous memiliki potensi untuk digunakan sebagai pengatur pertumbuhan benih padi. Hasil penelitian meningkatkan pemahaman lebih lanjut tentang peranan jamur dalam meningkatkan pertumbuhan padi.
