The article considers mutual influence of ethics and visual environment of the city on the basis ... more The article considers mutual influence of ethics and visual environment of the city on the basis of descriptive models of ethical values and mechanisms of regulation. The historical aspect of the moral component of the urban environment is analyzed. Ethical collisions in the digital city are questioned. Mechanisms of ethical regulation of the visual environment of the digital city are systematized. Ways of increasing the role of social control, civic activity and digital culture of the population are suggested, to form moral responsibility for improving the quality of life of the citizens, their sustainable, prosperous future.

Contemporary city is a digital city. It is real and the techniques of its living are no poorer th... more Contemporary city is a digital city. It is real and the techniques of its living are no poorer than the techniques of developing pre-digital cities. The city of the digital age does not dissolve into virtuality but, on the contrary, acquires new levels and dimensions. It is expanding, as is the range of the models managing it, which are formed on the basis of new technologies. The city is turning into a complex mechanism that produces and processes data flows. Architecture, urban management, and practices of citizens are increasingly basing on digital technologies. In the article, the authors set the context of the thematic issue through the introduction of two registers of visuality of contemporary city: a visible city that changes under the influence of the digital, and an invisible city created by algorithms.

The following article explores the notion of visual garbage and considers various strategies for ... more The following article explores the notion of visual garbage and considers various strategies for its recycling, upcycling, and use. Visual garbage is investigated in the context of media sphere development and the theory of garbage itself. The authors propose to analyse such approaches of visual garbage use, as visual camouflage and glitch art, as well as to examine the principles of visual garbage recycling in terms of the Aristotelian conception of causality. Understanding garbage as a medium helps not only to uncover the features of its circulation, but also to consider garbage as a source of knowledge accumulation. Moreover, it helps to find new social, political and aesthetic strategies for understanding contemporaneity, which in turn allows us to draw conclusions about the untapped potential of visual garbage. В настоящее время существует необходимость пересмотреть концепции школы Баухауза, которые легли в основу современнных технологий и медиа, присущие интерфейсам и игровому дизайну, разработать аналитические подходы к трансформации медиареальности, где идея новых форм и кодов дизайна приобретает все большее значение. Целью статьи является изучение влияния принципов движения Баухауз на дизайн интерфейсов как игровых, так и неигровых проектов. Its coded pattern figures the relationship between the abstraction of machinic processes and that of mediaproduction under contemporary interface culture. The Bauhaus school provided the possibilities for creating an aesthetic-technical production orientation that recontextualizes technology as skilled practice, which sought to restore the old unity of craft, technical and artistic production lost through industrialisation. Nowdays there is a necessity to reconsider the concepts of the Bauhaus that realigned in new technologies and media inherent in the interfaces and game design, to work out new analytical approaches to transforming mediareality, where the idea of new design forms and codes is gaining importance. Every thirty minutes a person dies in a road traffic accident in Russia. Twenty five thousands di... more Every thirty minutes a person dies in a road traffic accident in Russia. Twenty five thousands die annually, which is equivalent to the middle-populated city in the country. According to Traffic Police Statistics, much more people get wounded or disabled in the result of road accidents. In order to reduce the number of deaths in the car accidents it is necessary to implement specific measures, which cost a lot. Hence the relevance of more specific evaluation of socioeconomic national losses arising because of death, disablement and traumatism in the road traffic accidents. To make this possible, the authors have worked out the efficient methodology for estimation of socio-economic national losses as a result of road accidents. In accordance with our analysis the whole amount of the value is 487.1 billion RUB in 2013.

The paper explores the contemporary implementation of attention as a scarce resource, which the e... more The paper explores the contemporary implementation of attention as a scarce resource, which the economy, politics, and media culture must manage, distribute, and speculate. The purpose is to analyse the commodification of human capacities of attention within the paradigm of media philosophy. Conceptualisations such as "mental capitalism, " competition for "eyes, " and "clickthroughs" were identified as particular instantiations of forms in social media, photography, and art -from Instagram and Facebook to graffiti. I promote the view that visuality is an essential, contradictory, and inherent feature of the mental capitalism and its economy of self-esteem. In order to reframe a polemical account of the contemporary tendency of global capitalist technoculture, I briefly characterize the critical perspectives on the attention economy by Jonathan Beller and Bernard Stiegler. Finally, I emphasize the role of ecological and ethical responsibility in interpersonal relations and structures of social practices in the situation of "fight for attention. " The tasks of visual ecology in the age of mental capitalism are an elaboration of productive criteria of visual pollution, organization of the new forms of community strategies and policies, through attentive reflection of images and media milieu in which they develop, which are able to reconcile the contradictions between the technical and the natural.
