The effects of different parameters such as concentration of surfactant and added salting out reagent (Na 2 SO 4), pH and type of diluting solvent on microextraction were studied and optimized. Under optimum conditions, calibration curves were linear in the range of 2.0-10.0, 0.2-1.0 and 2-12 mg L-1 with the detection limit of 1.6, 0.6 and 111.0 μg L-1 for orange G, methyl orange and acid red 18, respectively. The relative standard deviation was better than 13.12%. The method was applied to the determination of the azo dyes in water samples.

Their different roles in giving care to the patients could result in physical and mental disorders. The self-efficacy seems to be an essential factor in empowering individuals coping with stressful situations and challenging tasks. The aim of this study was to investigate general selfefficacy among women as family caregivers of elderly with Alzheimer's disease. Methods & Materials: In this cross-sectional descriptive study, 112 women reffered to the Iran Alzheimer Association, Tehran were selected through convenience sampling method. The General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSE-10) was used to collect data. Data were entered into the SPSS-16 and then processed using descriptive statistics and independent t-test, ANOVA and Scheffe. Results: The mean score of the general self-efficacy was 28.24±6.34 indicating that considerable percentage of the participants had unsatisfactory level of self-efficacy (65.2%). In addition, there were significant relationships between the women's general self-efficacy with educational and economic statuses (P<0.05). There were no significant relationships between general self-efficacy with age, marital status, occupational status and duration of caring. Conclusion: According to the findings, a considerable percentage of the participants had unsatisfactory level of self-efficacy. Therefore, it is essential to promote the caregivers self-efficacy in order to give them the ability of better adaptation with the life's challenges. In particular, the self-efficacy promotive programs should be implemented among caregivers with lower educational and economic status.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of T. foenum-graecum seed extract in reducing the metabolic and inflammatory alternations associated with menopause. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, 49 rats were divided into seven groups: (I) sham-control, (II) ovariectomized-control, (III and IV) ovariectomized treated with 50 and 150 mg/kg of T. foenum-graecum seed ethanolic extract, (V and VI) ovariectomized treated with 50 and 150 mg/kg of T. foenum-graecum hexanic extract, (VII) ovariectomized-positive control treated with 10 µg/kg of estradiol. The extracts were injected intraperitoneally one day after ovariectomy and the treatments were lasted for 42 days. Results: Fasting blood glucose and body weight gain increased significantly in the ovariectomized-control group compared with that in the sham animals (P < 0.05). Administration of estradiol and T. foenum-graecum (50 and 150 mg/dL of hexanic extract and 150 mg/kg of ethanolic extract) significantly diminished the increase in glucose and body weight (P < 0.05). The serum level of interleukin-1 (IL-1), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in the ovariectomized control group was significantly higher than those in the sham animals (P < 0.05). Both hexanic and ethanolic extracts as well as estradiol were able to decrease level of these cytokines in the serum of ovariectomized rats (P < 0.05). Conclusions: The results of the present study show that administration of T. foenum-graecum corrects metabolic and inflammatory alterations associated with ovariectomy and has a potential for the management of menopause.

This is the first report on the simultaneous extraction and determination of U(VI) and V(V). In this method, Triton X114 was employed as a non-ionic surfactant for the cloud point procedure and 4-(2-pyridylazo) resorcinol (PAR) was used as the chelating agent for both analytes. To reach the cloud point at room temperature, the MCPE procedure was carried out in brine. The factors influencing the extraction efficiency were investigated and optimized. Under the optimized condition, the linear calibration curve was found to be in the concentration range between 100 - 750 and 50 - 600 μg L(-1) for U(VI) and V(V), respectively, with a limit of detection of 17.03 μg L(-1) (U) and 5.51 μg L(-1) (V). Total analysis time including microextraction was less than 5 min.

The environmental pollution at this method has been limited due to using a glass syringe as extraction unit and also a very small amount of n-hexane as a safe solvent. Some important parameters such as the type of extraction and disperser solvents, extraction and disperser solvents volume, sample volume and ionic strength were investigated and optimized. Validation experiments showed that the optimized method had precision (1.7-6.9%) and high recovery (94.32-104.7%), and the limits of detection were from 0.406 to 1.33 µg L(-1). At the end, the method was successfully applied for the determination of PEs in real water samples.

Regarding the instrument subscales, the mean scores were as follows: health and functioning: 15.48 ± 4.32, social and economic: 16.18 ± 3.65, psychological/spiritual: 18.04 ± 4.36, and familial: 20.12 ± 4.57. There was a significant relationship between QOL and marital status (P = 0.004), education (P = 0.007), income (P < 0.001) and disease duration (P = 0.047). However, there was no significant association between QOL and age, job and comorbidity. Conclusions: Based on the findings, participants had average levels of overall QOL. Some domains showed the need to improve QOL of women with CAD. Results of the present study revealed the necessity of designing and performing educational and supportive interventions to improve the QOL in women with CAD, especially among patients with low socioeconomic status.
