This study investigated affective commitment and organizational growth of hotels in Rivers State.... more This study investigated affective commitment and organizational growth of hotels in Rivers State. The study decomposed organizational growth into market share, efficiency and service quality. The study employed a descriptive research design and used a questionnaire to collect primary data. The study sampled 172 management level staff of hotels in Port Harcourt on a sample frame of one respondent per hotel. Spearman Rank Order Correlation was used to test the relationship between affective commitment and organizational growth. The study found that a positive and statistically significant relationship exists between employee commitment and organizational growth of hotels in Port Harcourt. The study thus concludes that growth of hotelsin Port Harcourt, Rivers State relies on employees’ affective commitment and recommends that management of hotels should consider employees’ goals and values, care about their opinion and wellbeing and provide support for them when needed. The study also recommends that management of hotels should exhibit a high level of commitment to their employees based on the conviction that a high level of employees’ commitment is not likely, if employees are concerned about losing their jobs.

The purpose of this research is to investigate the influence of Corporate Social Responsibility (... more The purpose of this research is to investigate the influence of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities within the soft drink industry on the perception and purchase intentions of the UK consumers. The research uses both quantitative and qualitative methods in order to effectively achieve the research aims and objectives. The quantitative method involved the survey 100 of respondents while qualitative method involves focus groups interview. The findings from the survey revealed that a positive relationship exists between CSR and consumer perception and purchase intention. Furthermore, a higher awareness of CSR activities leads better perception of the soft drink company and purchase intentions. However, the large of the proportion of the focus disagrees that CSR have a significant impact on their perception and purchase intention.The various test conducted reveals that gender have no significant influences the perception of soft drink CSR activities as well as the purchase intention of the UK consumers. From the findings of the research, it was recommended that soft drink companies provides healthier options of soft drinks for consumers to choose from in order minimise the contradiction of CSR activities and communicate CSR activities to the consumers more effectively in order to increase awareness and reap the benefits attributable to CSR in the industry

Setup cost of MSEs are general low and labour requirement are usually much less large scale enterprises. The role of MSEs in economic and social development of the Nigerian economy is indisputable. MSEs promotes entrepreneurship, innovation and creativity within the economy. However, Nigeria is yet to ripe the full benefit of MSEs. This is largely because MSEs challenges that hinder their growth. This paper examine challenges of MSEs in Nigeria and makes recommendations to overcome these challenges.A total of 120 copies of the questionnaire were administered, 10 were not returned while 110 were used for the analysis.The data so obtained were presented in tables and analyzed using non-parametric simple percentages. Z-test statistical technique was apply in order to confirm the 4 stated hypotheses.Finding shows that finance and lack managerial skills are problems encountered by MSEs. It was that recommended that fund be made easily accessible to MSEs by government agencies and that regular training be provided to MSEsPractitionerto enhance their managerial skills

The purpose of this study is to examine if there is a relationship between all the dimensions of transformational leadership behavior and all the measures of organizational commitment. The sample for this study consisted of 118 employee from the 20 selected banks. The data for this research was collected using the questionnaire and interview methods. The Spearman Rank-order correlation coefficient was used to test the relationships between the variables under review while the multiple regression analysis was adopted to evaluate the moderating effects of corporate culture on the relationship between Transformational leadership behaviour and organizational commitment. Findings from the study revealed that there is a positive and significant relationship between all the dimensions of transformational leadership (Idealized influence attributed, idealized influence behaviour, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation and individualized consideration) and all the measures of organizational commitment (affective, continuance and normative). Based on the findings above it was therefore concluded that transformational leadership enhances employees' commitment to the organization. In the light of the above, this study recommends that; Managers should always exhibit the attributed charisma embedded in transformational leadership in order to increase commitment level of employees;

This is because in recent years, women entrepreneurship has been recognised as an important source of economic growth. Women entrepreneurs create new jobs for themselves and also employ labour. In Nigeria, women entrepreneurship has been largely neglected both in society and in general and the majority of studies undertaken on gender and entrepreneurship are mostly in western countries. The paper adopts the qualitative research methodology, capitalising on in-depth interviews with 15 female entrepreneurs to explore their attitudes and their experiences in doing business in Nigeria. The constant comparison method of analysis was adopted to compare data from the field with themes from the literature, to properly understand the experiences of female entrepreneurs in Nigeria. Four themes emerged from analysis; The motivation for start-up, attitudes of female entrepreneurs in Nigeria, Barriers and Challenges faced by female entrepreneurs, Gender-based differences in running a business in Nigeria.

This paper focused on describing and evaluating the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system of Next Plc a British Multinational that deals on clothing, Footwear and home appliances based on Alters view of "Pleasing the customers". Data was gathered from secondary sources such as academic journals, textbooks, and credible websites. This research used other tools and techniques such as SWOT and Porter five forces to assess Next Plc CRM system. Finally, it was recommended that Next PLc improves privacy and personalisation of its CRM system.
