It seems that, in the future, tuberculosis infection will be more important regarding the public health as the prevalence of the HIV infection and the multi-drug resistant M. tuberculosis increases. Approximately 1% of the patients with tuberculosis develops central nervous system tuberculosis. Although it's rare, the mortality and the morbidity of the central nervous system tuberculosis are higher than the other forms of tuberculosis infection. In this paper, we aimed to draw attention to the importance of tuberculous meningitis in the differential diagnosis of the patients with headache or altered consciousness and its early treatment, in every day neurology practice by presenting two cases with tuberculous meningitis having interesting clinical features

We conducted a three-arm parallel study with balanced randomization to evaluate the effect of various disease-modifying therapies (DMTs) on cognitive function in MS. Ninety newly diagnosed, definite MS subjects referred to Ghaem Medical Center, Mashhad, Iran, were enrolled into this study between 2006 and 2009. They were randomly categorized into three DMT groups; Avonex, Rebif and Betaferon. Cognition status was assessed in MS patients at baseline and 12 months after treatment with DMTs using the 5 tests of the Brief Repeatable Battery of Neuropsychological Tests (BRB-N). The Symbol Digit Modalities Test scores improved in all groups at 12 month vs. baseline (Avonex: 34.50 vs. 38.95, p=0.011; Rebif: 35.30 vs. 40.13, p=0.001; Betaferon: 26.18 vs. 29.32, p=0.029). The purpose of this study was to determine the clinical, neurophysiological and neuroradiological correlations of Lhermitte's sign in a cohort of MS patients and reassess the relevance of this phenomenon in the clinical history of the disease. A prospective study of 694 patients with MS and 110 age-matched healthy adults was evaluated by a structured questionnaire that included basic demographic data, age of onset, clinical characteristics of the disease, and the inquiry of Lhermitte's sign. Cranial and spinal magnetic resonance imagings (MRI) and median and tibial somatosensory evoked potentials (SSEP) were performed at the same time. One hundred and twelve (16 %) patients were reported to have Lhermitte's sign; 582 (84 %) patients did not experience Lhermitte's sign during their disease duration (P < 0.026). No correlation was found between Lhe...
