This paper studies Persian and English relative clauses comparatively. By using descriptive and c... more This paper studies Persian and English relative clauses comparatively. By using descriptive and comparative methods of research, this paper investigates about the structure of relative clause and aims to find out the differences and similarities involved in such constructions in Persian and English. The findings suggest that both languages have 'head-modifying' constructions in which the relative clause follows the NP they modify. Persian relative clauses are introduced by complementizer 'ke' whereas relativizer (that), as well as relative pronouns, are used to present relative clauses in English.

In fact, interpreting bridges the communicative gap and functions as a communicative device in which the speaker's message is transmitted via the interpreter's voice. Interpreting plays an important part in international institutions like the United Nations, European Union, and the World Bank in which many vital worldwide issues are discussed. Indeed, there are different modes of interpreting that each requires a complete and full rendition of the message. To do so, great memory and high notetaking skills are required. Therefore, the researcher tries to pinpoint the importance of memory and notetaking in the process of interpreting.

However, it is not an easy task and translators are challenged by many factors during the process of translation. This paper aims to focus on the linguistic factor that directly affects the process of translation. The researcher tries to show and provide evidence that there is no one-to-one relationship between the form and meaning so that the translator produces an adequate and acceptable piece of translation.

One of the factors which makes human beings to be social is the use of language in their daily communication. Communication has many forms, but this paper focuses on verbal communication in which spoken language is used. Through verbal communication, human beings achieve certain objectives like sharing ideas, transferring knowledge, expressing feelings, influencing others, and etc. Having knowledge of the meaning of words and rules of grammar governing a language is not sufficient to properly communicate because language is also bound by context. A great deal of verbal communication is context-dependent since words and phrases shift their meaning based on the context and situation they are used. Moreover, verbal communication could greatly be affected by the words and expressions that don't have fixed referents and constantly picks up various referents. Linguists termed them as deixis that speakers and listeners should recognize them in the process of verbal communication. Therefore, the researcher tries to focus on the role and significance of context and deixis in the process of verbal communication to help human beings to have meaningful and comprehensible verbal communication.
