Each fluoroquinolones tends produce characteristic adverse effects. Different studies showed that there was evidence about adverse effects of some :fluoroquinolones as levofloxacin, alatrofloxacin, trovaflxacin and moxifloxacin on the pregnant experimental lab. Animals when they were administered higher than the maximum recommended human doses , the current study was conducted to highlight the effects of different dosages of pefloxacin on the pregnant mice .The study revealed that the litter size and weight of bi1th were unaffected at the recommended oral human doses. Also reflects that there were little effects on body weight gain of dams when the dose exceeds the maximum recommended human dosage. No teratogenic effects were observed even at high oral doses. This project needs further investigation using different lab. Animals with large sample size.

Objectives: The objective of the current study was to recognize the insertion site and to study the histological appearance of the cord at different gestational periods. Results: The study revealed that eccentric site of location was 64.99% the central insertion 28.33% and marginal insertion 6.66%. Conclusion: Microscopic study of umbilical artery revealed that the measurements of thickness of muscular layer (tunica media) was increased from 0.6µm at the third month of gestation to 9.2µm at ninth month (at delivery) which may explain the increase in strength and elasticity of the cord against torsion and compression as the fetus became near the term.

The present study was conducted to detect HCV genotypes and their prevalence among the asymptomatic populations from five Iraqi governorates (Najaf, Babylon, Qadisyia, Karbala and Baghdad governorates), as the asymptomatic patients globally represent about 80% from total HCV patients by using of viral genotyping through RT-PCR analysis. A875 samples were collected from different study groups. The total asymptomatic HCV positive cases by RTPCR test were 103 out of 875, the genotype 4 was the predominant genotype that appeared in 89.4% of the patients followed by genotypes 1b, 2b, 3a and 6a which had been found in 6.79%, 2.91%, 2.91% and 1.94% of the asymptomatic patients, respectively. The current study provide the first information in Iraq at least in the study areas about the presence of HCV ...

Viral nucleic acid was detectable in the insects by RT-PCR assay for up to thirteen days post feeding with the HCV containing blood meal. These insects were left to feed on viral free blood later on this blood was tested by RT-PCR assay and gave negative result. Testing of HCV-free blood that was used to feed insects, already fed on HCV infected blood, gave negative results for HCV virus genome. Viral stability criteria were investigated on infected blood samples with known viral load of (1.3 x 10 5 IU/ml). Viral nucleic acid was detectable by RT-PCR test for up to 9 days when whole blood stored at 4oC; for 3 days when whole blood stored at the room temperature and for 36 hours when dried blood stored at room temperature. The estimation of some viral stability criteria by RT-PCR analysis was f...

It is formed by the fi fth week of development and it functions throughout pregnancy to protect the vessels that travel between the foetus and the placenta. In the present study, 60 term placenta were studied. Out of these 28 were of female and 33 of male babies from healthy looking mothers aged between 25 35 years and the parity from one to five. All cords obtained were of normal vaginal deliveries and aborted foetuses. For l ight microscopy, two cm. of t issue was taken from each cord and fixed in 10% formalin for one week. Grossly the attachments of umbil ical cord to the placenta were observed which showed that the eccentric site of insertion was 64.99%, the central insertion 28.33% and the marginal insertion 6.66% from the total observed placenta. The tunica intimae consist of a single continuous wavy layer of small oval or rounded shaped, which bulges into the lumen of arteries. A thick tunica medium which ...
