The sample included 50 children (25 girls and 25 boys) with disabilities aged 6 to 18, all belonging to the UT of Jammu and Kashmir, India. A self-devised interview schedule was used for data collection. The results of the present study revealed that most of the PWD experienced discontinuity and severe academic disruptions during Covid19 pandemic. They complained of lack of academic support from institutions/schools, communication barriers between teachers and students, and unfamiliarity with remote learning which led to great academic stress and anxiety. As remote learning was more challenging for PWD, they were at increased risk of learning loss during the pandemic. Perceived parental mental health issues due to academic disruptions of children were also analyzed. Parents had severe stress and anxiety due to changes in children's daily structure and routines and faced additional burden as they were called to take an academic role for their children. This situation has significantly increased the risk of experiencing negative emotions in parents, with a potential cascading effect on children's well-being.

The sample comprised 30 visually impaired and 30 sighted adolescents aged 12-15 years, all belonging to the Jammu district of Jammu and Kashmir, UT, India. The body Shape Questionnaire (Cooper et al., 1986) and Emotional Maturity Scale (Singh and Bhargava,1999) were used for data collection. The collected data were analyzed statistically using the computation of mean, correlation, standard deviation, t-test, and chi-square using SPSS. The results reveal that visually impaired adolescents demonstrated lower body satisfaction and extreme emotional immaturity than sighted adolescents. Statistically, significant differences in body satisfaction and emotional maturity between visually impaired and sighted adolescents at P<.05 were noted. The findings of the study also revealed a positive and significant (at P<.05) correlation between body satisfaction and emotional maturity among adolescents as a group, visually impaired and sighted adolescents, respectively. Intercorrelation between variables showed that body satisfaction was positively correlated with all five dimensions of emotional immaturity among total adolescents as a group and visually impaired adolescents and with four dimensions except lack of independence among sighted adolescents.

The core sample for the study comprised 120 female construction workers equally divided in two age group viz, 20-30 and 30-40 years. The selected construction workers were required to be performing construction activities for at least past 2 years. The tools used for the data collection were an interview schedule, C.M.I. health questionnaire and an observation checklist. Results reveal that majority of the sample female workers had moderate level of problems related to various health dimensions namely, eyes, musculo skeletal system, skin, and genitourinal tract. But at the same time had lower level of problems related to respiration, cardio vascular system, digestive tract and nervous system. Redness, pain, irritation and watery eyes were fairly common along with breathing problems and chest congestion. Digestion related problems including diarrhea, acidity and constipation; along with skin rashes and lesions were also noted. Muscular pains and joint aches were also frequently noted. Nervous system problems reported included feeling of dizziness, fainting spells, headaches and cold sweats. There was also low to moderate incidence of fatigue and moderate to high incidence of illness among the sample females. Statistically there was significant difference in the physical health of the two age groups. Comparatively women in the 30-40 years age group faced more problems in eyes, nervous system, genitourinal system and encountered more incidence of illness than the younger age group. Overall, the results highlight the poor health condition of female construction workers.

The sample for the study consisted of 320 adolescent's girls, 100 mothers and 100 grandmothers, belonging to Balti and Purig tribes. The random sampling technique was used, to select the sample. A self devised interview schedule was used, to gather the required information. The results reveal that, there is a substantial lacuna in the knowledge about menstruation, among the females. Widespread misconceptions and unawareness about the essential concepts of reproductive physiology and menstruation, among the tribal females was noted. It was found that, all mothers and the majority of grandmothers and adolescent girls, held incorrect perception, regarding the causes of menstruation. For them, menstruation occurs in females, in order to get rid of spoiled or dirty blood, from the body and it helps to detoxify our body. Many of these females were still not sure, about the source of menstrual blood. These girls were not able to differentiate between urethra and vaginal opening. The results overall highlight that, even today females of Kargil, tend to have insufficient and incomplete information, related to menarche and menstruation.

It further aimed to provide them intervention in need-based areas. The sample for the study comprised of 15 hearing impaired children in the age group of 10-17 years, their parents, siblings and teachers. The entire core sample was selected by random sampling procedure from J&K Samaj Kalyan Kendra, the only institution for hearing impaired children in Jammu (J&K). Tools used for data collection included Family Environment Scale (Bhatia and Chadha 1993) and Social Adjustment Inventory (Deva 1982) along with interviews and participant observations. Results reveal that the disability of majority of the sample was detected late as a consequence of which the speech of these children was affected. Most of the parents were found to provide supportive environment to the hearing impaired children and exhibited adaptability in adjusting to the special needs of their impaired children. The parents also reported incidences of negative social response. Almost all the families scored average on most of the dimensions of Family Environment Scale such as Cohesion, Organization, Active recreation orientation etc, except for the dimension of Independence where majority of families scored low. The results further revealed that on the basis of Social Adjustment Inventory 54% of the children were found to be moderately adjusted followed by 33% and 13% who were negatively adjusted and adjusted respectively. A one-day intervention programme was also organized for the parents of hearing-impaired children in an attempt to provide them expert advice and support.
