Agent of Roodan Eggplant Phyllody (REP) was transmitted from phyllody affected eggplant to eggplant and tomato by grafting and to periwinkle via dodder inoculation inducing phytoplasma-type symptoms. Phytoplasmal infection also was demonstrated by positive direct PCR reaction with phytoplasma universal primer pair P1/P7 and nested PCR using P1/P7 and R16F2n/R16R2 primer pairs. A P1/P7 primed PCR product from a naturally phyllody affected eggplant was cloned and sequenced and submitted to GenBank under accession number JX464669. Restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis of P1/P7-primed PCR product indicated the presence of a pigeon pea witches'-broom (16SrIX) group related phytoplasma in naturally phyllody affected eggplants. Using 16S rRNA and SR sequences, Blast search, phylogenetic a...

Phylogenetic analysis of DNA or protein sequences has become an important tool for studying the evolutionary history of organisms from viruses to humans. It has been shown that the highly variable 3’ untranslated regions of potyviral genomes may be used as strainand virus-specific probes for sensitive virus detection and differentiation, while the sequences can also be used for estimating close phylogenetic relationships. The study was carried out to determine if the Iranian Poaceae potyviruses could be differentiated by comparison of their 3′-terminal sequences and comparison of these 3′-terminal sequences with other Poaceae potyvirus sequences available from the GenBank to compose a phylogenetic relationship. RNA extracts from virus preparation or infected plant tissues were conducted to amplify the approximately 700 bp nucleotide sequences, using Oligo1n/OligodT p...
Bermuda grass white leaf (BGWL) is among the destructive phytoplasmal disease of bermuda grass (C... more Bermuda grass white leaf (BGWL) is among the destructive phytoplasmal disease of bermuda grass (Cynodon dactylon) which is known to occur in Asia, Africa, Cuba and Italy. It also was observed in several provinces of Iran. Affected grasses exhibited whitening of leaves, proliferation of auxiliary shoots, bushy growing habit, small leaves, shortened stolons, stunting and death of the plants. In order to effectively assess and manage the risk to agricultural crops posed by this phytoplasma, it is necessary to establish whether there is relationship between BGWL and other phytoplasmas such as sugarcane white leaf. Different methods like light microscopic techniques, fluorescent microscopic techniques, and DAPI stain are used for detecting the pathogen, but most of these techniques are indirect and non-specific that can detect any other phytoplasmas. Immunoassays are used for diagnosing disease, identifying and quantifying microorganisms as highly specific techniques. Leaf samples with a...
In this paper, to solve the multi-objective problem of distribution feeder reconfiguration (DFR) ... more In this paper, to solve the multi-objective problem of distribution feeder reconfiguration (DFR) in the presence of distributed generation (DG), the hybrid particle swarm optimization and gravitational search algorithm (PSOGSA) has been proposed, which is a combination of particle optimization (PSO) and gravitational (GSA) optimization algorithm. In this field, the power losses and operating costs are the two most used objective functions in the literature. In addition to the mentioned objective functions, this paper also considers the optimal generation capacity of DG resources and energy not supplied (ENS), which is one of the basic reliability indexes of distribution networks. In this paper, the values of different objective functions are normalized by the fuzzy method, and also the Fuzzy decision-maker is used to determine the most optimal solution among the Pareto-optimal solutions. The proposed algorithm is implemented on IEEE 70-bus and 119-bus test systems. The simulation re...
Understanding of gene action for resistance to maize common smut is essential for maize breeding ... more Understanding of gene action for resistance to maize common smut is essential for maize breeding programs, therefore, triple test cross analysis was employed to assess gene action controlling resistance to common smut in maize. Parental inbred lines and their progenies were evaluated using randomized complete block design with three replications in Karaj Field Station, Seed and Plant Improvement Institute, in 2007 and 2008 cropping seasons. Epistasis was observed for resistance to maize common smut. Partitioning of the total epistasis revealed that [i] type (additive × additive) and [I+J] types (additive × dominance and dominance × dominance) were highly significant. Additive (L1i+L2i) and dominance (L1i – L2i) effects for resistance to maize common smut were also significant, over two growing seasons. Dominance ratio (H/D) 1/2 indicated that resistance to maize common smut was controlled by dominance effect. However, the direction of dominance (rs,d) for this character in two growi...

In such situations, the only way to re-energise loads is to use available microgrids (MGs). Since power outputs of MGs are limited, the major concern for system operators is to energise the maximum critical loads (CLs) during the time needed for fault isolation and maintenance. To solve this problem, this study provides a systematic restoration process by using MGs. First, after the fault clearance the shortest paths between MGs and CLs are identified by Dijkstra’s algorithm. Then, the best paths are determined by using a new modified analytic hierarchical process (AHP) algorithm and fuzzy logic to achieve four goals: increasing restored energy, reducing path preparing time, decreasing number of switching operations and reducing unavailability of path. In the modified AHP, the parameters are so tuned that the engineers’ personal preferences are eliminated for selecting the best restoration paths. Also, the uncertainty of available energy of MGs is considered. The IEEE 123-node distribution network with MGs and CLs is used for simulations. Results clearly show the benefits of using this method for CL restoration.

These main goals of the restoration in distribution networks are to reenergise loads in the area ... more These main goals of the restoration in distribution networks are to reenergise loads in the area where the power outage occurs. In this study, a new multi-stage restoration process by the aid of the decision-making tree algorithm is proposed to maximise the restored loads and also to minimise switching operations in the distribution networks with distributed generations (DGs). This method includes three stages of initial restoration, reconfiguration and optimal load shedding. In order to reduce the search space, the network switches are categorised into different sets which avoid moving to any inappropriate result space. The simulations are carried out on the 69-bus distribution system and the results show the high capability and accuracy of the proposed method in the restoration of distribution networks.

Distribution system reconfiguration problem is a complex optimization process to find a structure... more Distribution system reconfiguration problem is a complex optimization process to find a structure with minimum losses in which the satisfaction of both sides, those are consumers and distribution system companies, need to be met. One of the most significant parameters in this regard is to increase the reliability of the system. This parameter, on one hand, increases the satisfaction of power consumption and on the other hand, improves the economic benefits of distribution companies. Distribution system reconfiguration, considering the reliability parameters, seems to make the attempts to solve the problem of optimization difficult. In this paper, a modified heuristic approach for distribution system has been presented. Also, in order to consider reliability indexes, a number of new formulas have been presented. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated on balanced and unbalanced test distribution systems.
