FEZs can cover various types of economic activities, depending on government policy and specific objectives for each goal, being created to stimulate industrial production and manufacturing of goods. According to the official information on the website of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, there are 7 FEZs operating in the Republic of Moldova in 2023. In 2022 the increase in income, as a continuity effect in the national economy, in the 7 economic zones operating on the national territory, constituted approximately 663 million US dollars. The biggest share of investments was made in the FEZ "Bălți"-the amount of investments 281.64 million US dollars. During the years 2009-2022, in the FEZ, the positive evolution of the investment growth rate indicator was recorded by 37.6%. The study is preliminary, being the basis of complex research, which will be developed within the doctoral training program.

Although nanopackages have many benefits, there are circumstances when these materials are able to release nanoparticles into the food/beverage matrix. Once dispersed into food, engineered metal oxide nanoparticles travel through the gastrointestinal tract and subsequently enter human cells, where they display various behaviors influencing human health or wellbeing. This review article provides an insight into the antimicrobial mechanisms of metal oxide nanoparticles as essential for their benefits in food/beverage packaging and provides a discussion on the oral route of these nanoparticles from nanopackages to the human body. This contribution also highlights the potential toxicity of metal oxide nanoparticles for human health. The fact that only a small number of studies address the issue of food pack...

This paper analyzes the possibilities for revitalizing the Romanian agricultural sector, which was affected by the excessive inflation (especially via the price increases of fertilizers and fuels) and drought, both generating significant cereal and agricultural production losses. The current research highlights the main investment options for the managers of 219 Romanian agricultural cooperative companies, including the available financing alternatives. In our view, the investments realized within the agricultural cooperative companies support the creation and increase in value added and reduce specific risks, consolidating the role and status of agricultural producers within the food chain. The research evaluates the Romanian agricultural investment t...

A smart entrepreneurial variant of contemporary village’s development could be “the smart tourist village”, to capitalize rural resources. Thus, in this research we come to a variant of contemporary village’s development, respectively “smart tourist village”, which is the basic idea of the work. To demonstrate that the notion of “smart tourist village” can be a future idea of sustainable rural entrepreneurship the steps undertaken were: the identification of the representative aspects of the villages from Maramures and of their specific resources presentation of the specific aspects; the study also made a quantitative presentation of the rural tourism infrastructure from Maramures by localities; and identifies the perception and “vision” of tourists and owners of tourist structures about Maramures tourist village as an innovative solution with benefits for tourists and locals. The information collected by using the me...

This paper puts forth an analysis of the Romanian potential in the development of the traditional products, an evaluation of the degree of concentration and of the factors of market influence. The study used information provided by governmental organizations, national and European statistical database. The collected data was processed, graphically represented and analyzed. Herfindahl-Hirschman and Gini-Struck indexes were used to analyze the market concentration. The research results showed an uneven distribution of the traditional products on regions and counties in Romania. The national market is characterized by a high concentration level, most registered products coming from Central and North West regions. The South Est region is modestly represented at national level, but covers roughly 40% of the European traditional registered prod...

The analysis has highlighted the success of public initiatives in the field and a low survival rate for private platforms. Public-Private Partnerships can be a solution to optimize the work of specialized technology transfer platforms. Romania does not currently have a specialized technology transfer network, functional at national level. There are some governmental initiatives or based on European funds, but the information presented is brief, the number of participants is low and the offer of technology transfer partnerships is limited. The study highlighted the need to develop tools tailored to technology transfer, including technology platforms, but government support and measures to support public and ...

Currently, only 12% of the total agricultural area is irrigated. In order to benefit from irrigation, Romanian farmers must be members of the Organization of the Irrigation Water Users (OUAI), assigned to the area in which they own land or conclude seasonal contracts. A survey addressed to the OUAI in Galati County attempted to identify the relations between the members that can lead to the association not only for irrigation, but also for agricultural activities. An analysis of the data obtained from the survey was carried out, using the „fuzzy set comparative qualitative analysis” (fsQCA) method, in the context of land fragmentation, in conjunction with supporting national and European programs for the association and development of the irrigation infrastructure. The results of the study are important because it reflects the main issues highlighted by the farm...

Most products incriminated last period were those of animal origin, especially meat and meat products. The study proposed an analysis of the notifications made by network members through Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed on products originating in Romania. As a source of information, the Rapid Alert System portal and the official communications of the National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority were used. The research results showed that nearly a quarter of network notifications were rejected and were withdrawn by the European Authority. Although national authorities present these issues as success stories of national quality policies, the large number of notifications related to the volume of exported products is worrying. The paper is of practical and applicative importance for both the business environment and the academic environment, laying the basi...

The research methodology was based on the analysis of restaurant menus in the city of Chișinău emphasising the items in which fishery products were identified, differentiated by the raw materials used, the cooking technique and services, source, energy value or price. Research has highlighted the fact that, although the share of fishery products in the supply of public catering establishments is moderate, the food of the population between the Prut and the Nistru keep the tradition, originality, the ethnic significance and modality of food, characterised by some taste and visual particulars, according to which foods transmit the information, ancient knowledge and the food balance characteristic of the Romanian population.

The present paper proposes an analysis of the foreign capital involved in the autochthonous agrifood production with a stress on the area of the agricultural and industrial food processing. Apart from the reports of National Bank of Romania, the necessary information regarding the foreign capital in the Romanian agrifood area are scarce and of a general nature. The undertaken analysis pinpointed predominant speculative aspects of the foreign investments in the agricultural lands in Romania as well as the main circumstantial character of the foreign capital involved in the agrifood processing. In crisis situations or in the absence of some profitable enough opportunities, the foreign investors leave the Romanian market, migrating towards more economically attractive areas. The bringing into effect of some mutually benefici...

Food product supply continuity assurance is supported by economic considerations coming from producers or food product merchants, by the increasing demand that exists on the market or by the political implications regarding food security assurance among the population. The study focuses on assessing the extent to which the food sector economic agents are prepared to face potential critical situations in the unfolding of their business activities. In Romania there haven’t been carried out any studies regarding food chain resilience regarding critical incidents and the economic impact of these incidents on the food sector. The main objective of the research was the Romanian food chain resilience assessment to critical situations, having a highly applicative character. One described and analysed the main categories of traditional produce encountered on the European community and extra-community level, a special section being dedicated to Romania. The concentration of the EU community market in the domain of traditional agro-food production is moderate, with growth trends, which requires an appropriate approach from the part of small and medium enterprises. The market of traditional products in Romania, characterised by a lower concentration degree compared to the community market, may be accessible to domestic producers.

The generous natural resources available to Romania and the tradition in animal husbandry can provide adequate raw materials for the processing industry in order to cover domestic consumption needs and obtain substantial revenues by export. Currently, Romanian meat market is dependent on the imports of meat, as carcasses or processed products. There have been mainly live animals or semi-finished products which are exported, fact which led to an imbalance of trade and to low revenues for the domestic meat industry. This article proposes an analysis of the local meat processing industry in terms of production, consumption and trade transactions, assessed in the international context of the meat market. The study indicates that in the last few years, Romania has recorded significant progress in the meat processing and production domain; neve...
