Nitel araştırma yönteminin kullanıldığı bu çalışma fenomenoloji deseni ile tasarlanmıştır. Araştırmanın katılımcıları 2022-2023 eğitim-öğretim yılında İstanbul ili, Sancaktepe ve Üsküdar ilçelerindeki özel ve devlet ortaokullarında okuyan öğrencilerin ebeveynlerinden oluşmaktadır. Görüşmeye katılacak ebeveynleri tespit etmek amacıyla Ebeveyn Aşırı Korumacılık Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Buna ilaveten aşırı ebeveyn görüşlerini ortaya koymak amacıyla yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılmıştır. Belirlenen 23 aşırı ebeveyn ile öğrencilerin ortaokul eğitim programlarındaki başarılarına yönelik görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde içerik analizi tekniği kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgular aşırı koruyucu ebeveyn görüşleri çerçevesinde öğrencilerin akademik başarı durumlarını, ortaokul eğitim programının öğrenci başarısına katkısını, başarılı öğrenci özelliklerini, öğretmen özelliklerini, yönetici özelliklerini, veli özelliklerini, aşırı ebeveynlik düzeylerini ve başarıya yönelik duygu paylaşımlarını ortaya koymuştur. Araştırmanın sonucunda öğrencilerin akademik başarısını artırmaya yönelik ilgili eğitim programının ve paydaşların gelişime açık yönlerinin bulunduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bu doğrultuda araştırmacılara, uygulayıcılara ve velilere çeşitli önerilerde bulunulmuştur.

resource. Generally, having a good reservoir of vocabulary makes the skills of listening,
speaking, reading and writing easier to perform. Language games, which have a
significant educational value in vocabulary teaching, are plainly designed with
educational aims. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness
of language games in teaching vocabulary. Within this framework, this study aims to
find answers to these questions: Are language games useful in the process of vocabulary
teaching to young learners? If so, what are the attitudes of young language learners
towards language games? And, how do language games effect young learners’ language
development? The sample of the study consists of 100 fifth graders. These young
learners are from a state-run primary school in Istanbul/Turkey. In this study, the data is
collected through multiple choice vocabulary tests and semi structured interviews. To
measure the change in the vocabulary knowledge of young learners, a pretest-posttest
control group design is used. To elicit the ideas of young learners about the
effectiveness of language games and to reveal the attitudes of young learners towards
these educational games, the semi-structured interview is applied. Results of the study
show that games facilitate vocabulary learning and are one of the effective ways of
vocabulary teaching

countries, the effects of globalization increased in our age and this
necessitate individuals to learn another language other than mother
tongue; in this sense, English becomes more important. English includes
four fundamental skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking. Among
those peaking stands out as the most important skill because it is the
most important indicators of expressing to know a language. However
speaking and listening skills in a different language are complex to
develop and it needs hard work. The aim of this study is to determine
university preparatory class students’ needs for English speaking.
Questionnaire and attitude scale were conducted to 165 preparatory
students at university. Interviews were conducted with six students
three of which are women and three of which are men and four
instructors. In addition, the observation was made in one of preparatory
class in which there were 21 students. Attitude Scale about Speaking
English, Perceptions and Needs Assessment Survey Towards the Basic
English Skills, Interview and Observation Form were used for data
collection. According to results, students participating to study indicated
that fluency, vocabulary and intelligibility were important for speaking
English. In addition students have shown that being extremely excited,
concerning about making mistakes and insufficient vocabulary were the
obstacles of speaking English. Both instructor and students specified
that the goal of preparation program is not to improve speaking skills;
therefore the activities in lessons are not related to speaking. Besides, the
lack of practical activities about speaking, book-oriented activities, more
emphasis on writing and reading skills are the other subjects mentioned.
Instead of speaking skills, the instructors and English preparation
program focus on activities and skills that prepares to academic life.

Especially during the last two decades, it has been used by many educational institutions in the assessment of educational needs. Because of its widespread use and increased prevalence, this study's purpose is to explain the needs analysis in program development with its different dimensions and holistic reality. This research is a qualitative study based on the descriptive analysis of the documents that are obtained by using the snowball sampling technique. In the current research, efforts to provide validity and reliability were tried to be carried out objectively, colleague confirmation was taken and expert examination was carried out. In the research, the definition, history, purpose, approaches, types, techniques and stages of needs analysis are explained. In the research, it has been reached that needs assessment is not a matter of preference but a necessity. That is why it is necessary to critically focus on needs analysis in program development. A number of suggestions are presented considering the importance of this topic.

Since the research covered only one unit of a higher education institution, a holistic single case design was preferred. Participants included English preparatory school instructors, administrators, students, and senior members of the Faculty of Education. Convenience and criterion sampling techniques were used in the selection of the participants. In the study in which interview technique was used, an interview form was implemented in order to ascertain the professional skills. The data collection process was carried out over the course of eight weeks. Descriptive analysis and content analysis techniques were used in data analysis. While the opinions of the English preparatory school stakeholders were shared via verbatim quotation technique during the descriptive analysis process, the professional skills that English preparatory instructors require to improve were determined via the content analysis of the participants' relevant opinions. As a result of the research, professional skills that these instructors need to enhance were identified.

Because of its widespread use and increasing importance, the overall aim of this research is to investigate İstanbul Zaim University, English Preparatory School Students’ attitudes in terms of writing course towards Cambridge
Learning Management System. The target population of the study, which was carried out on the basis of survey design, consisted of İstanbul Zaim University, English Preparatory Program students in spring term, in 2015-2016 academic year. The sample of this research, which was selected by using stratifies sampling techniques among students who studied at four different language levels of English Prep. School Program, consisted of 313 students. 166 students (53%) were female and 147 students (47%) were male. The age distribution of students was in the range of 17 to 25 years old. In this study, a learning management system attitude scale, which was prepared by the researchers by conducting a validity and reliability study on 305 students and a writing course achievement test, which had convergent validity with Cambridge Publishing Company’s standard achievement test, were used as a data collection tool. In the analysis of data, which was collected through face to face
applications, SPSS was used. In terms of overall aim and sub goals of the study, percentage, mean, standard deviation, independent sample t-test, one-way analysis of variance and simple linear regression analysis were used. The findings showed thatEnglish Prep. School students had positive attitudes towards learning management system. In addition, the gender of the students, age, the type
of high school they graduated and their concluded that “students’ writing course achievement” was a significant predictor of attitudes towards learning management system. Recommendations towards the further dissemination of the learning management system, which continuously increases the quality of education especially in terms of e-learning, were put forward.

In this study, the “understanding by design” model combined with a model of motivational design w... more In this study, the “understanding by design” model combined with a model of motivational design was used to improve English-speaking skills of university preparatory school students and to increase their motivation. By using the design-based approach, the performance of students’ speaking skills was evaluated with different techniques in three cycles. The mixed method, in which the qualitative method dominated, was used in the study. The researcher observation form and student reflection report were used throughout each cycle. In the first cycle, presentation activity was done and it was found that word knowledge was effective in speaking. A peer form, an observation form and reflection reports of the students were used as data collection tools. However, because of students’ poor performance at some points in the presentation activity, it was supported by a debate activity in the second cycle. In this regard, students thought that it was useful for them to speak fluently and be active in the classroom. The observation form and reflection reports of students were used as data collection tools. In the third cycle, ‘role-play activity’ was used by taking account of its effectiveness with smaller groups and extra time. A peer form, an observation form and reflection reports of the students were used as data collection tools. At the end of the design, the focus group and individual interviews were made with the students. Finally, the data which was obtained from teachers’ and students’ views showed that the design increased motivation and improved students’ speaking skills.

Rixon (1999) suggests that the countries lower the age of English language learning, because they would like to take advantage of benefits connected with language learning at a younger age. Effective language instruction can develop a lifelong motivation for learning languages. A child who enjoys English classes at the age of eight are much more likely to love and continue to pursue English in later years in comparison to a child who finds English classes boring and meaningless. Thus, learning languages effectively from an earlier age holds potential for future learning.

Currently, English is the lingua franca in education, science, information technology, business, aviation, entertainment, and diplomacy. About 80 percent of the English speakers are nonnative speakers (Braine, 2006 as cited in jerkins, 2007). Therefore, most of the countries in the world attach great importance to teaching and learning English as a second or foreign language and form their educational policies accordingly. In Turkey, English is learned as a foreign language to provide communication with other countries for a variety of purposes such as scientific, military, economic and social development. English is learned by different age groups, especially starting from 2 nd grades in state-run primary education. Ministry of Education specifies the objectives of learning English in state-run primary schools as: Students will demonstrate the knowledge of reading and writing in the target language, use language for communication and understand what they hear and read (MEB, 2006). To be able to achieve these objectives, it is important to know young learners more closely and put emphasis on their characteristics of language learning. Each learner is unique in learning. In other words, they may have different learning styles in learning vocabulary. Learning vocabulary is a part of language learning. It is an integral part of any kind of language learning since a good knowledge of vocabulary allows for a good communication. Young learners can learn a huge amount of vocabulary through games. All types of games may be used in an educational environment. Educational games are designed to assist young learners to learn about certain topics, enlarge perceptions, strengthen language development, understand a historical event or culture, or assist them in learning a skill as they play. As teachers, governments and parents, we should realize the psychological needs of children for games. Game is an interactive play that teaches young learners goals, rules, adaptation, problem solving, interaction abilities etc... They provide young learners the essential needs of vocabulary learning by providing enjoyment, passionate involvement, organization, motivation, imagination, inspiration, social communication and collaboration and feelings. Moreover, students learn without knowing it (Schultz & Fisher, 1988). In general, language games are the activities which are used in the classroom as a facilitator to boost foreign language acquisition. According to Hadfield, (1990, as cited in Deesri, 2002) "game is an activity which has certain rules, a goal and an element of fun". Games designers define the term 'game' as an organization in which players take part in an artificial conflict (Salen & Zimmerman, 2003).

Sanal zorbalık, bilgi ve iletişim teknolojilerini kullanarak karşıdaki kişi ya da gruba zarar ver... more Sanal zorbalık, bilgi ve iletişim teknolojilerini kullanarak karşıdaki kişi ya da gruba zarar verme amacıyla yürütülen rahatsız edici ve saldırganca davranışlar olarak tanımlanabilir. Sanal zorbaya veya sanal mağdura rast gelinen bir yaş grubu da lise öğrencileridir. Sanal zorbalık lise öğrencilerinin tutumlarını, algılarını, davranışlarını ve akademik başarı durumlarını doğrudan ya da dolaylı olarak etkileyebilmektedir. Bu sebeple lise öğrencilerinin sanal zorbalığa yönelik farkındalık düzeyi, sanal zorbalık ile baş etme stratejileri ve sanal zorbalığa maruz kalma sıklığı gibi konular önemli görülmekte ve pek çok araştırmanın konusu olmaktadır. Bu araştırmanın amacı çeşitli ortaöğretim programlarında öğrenim gören öğrencilerin sanal zorbalık ile baş etme düzeylerini incelemektir. Bu doğrultuda araştırmada nicel yöntem ve tekil tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini İstanbul sınırları içerisinde yer alan çeşitli eğitim programlarına sahip ortaöğretim kurumları ve bu kurumların farklı sınıflarında okuyan lise öğrencileri oluşturmuştur. Veri toplama aracı olarak “Sanal Zorbalıkla Baş Etme Ölçeği” ve “Sosyodemografik Bilgi Formu” kullanılmıştır. Veri toplama süreci 2022-2023 akademik yılı güz döneminde 12 haftayı kapsamıştır. Veri analizinde parametrik varsayımların karşılandığı durumlarda kullanılan tek örneklem t testi, bağımsız örneklem t testi ve anova testi gibi birtakım betimsel ve yordayıcı istatistik teknikleri bir arada kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonucunda çeşitli ortaöğretim programlarında öğrenim gören öğrencilerin sanal zorbalık ile baş etme düzeyleri belirlenmiş ve birtakım değişkenlerin istatistiksel olarak anlamlı olup olmadığı tespit edilmiştir.

Psikososyal ve davranışsal birtakım sorunlar ebeveyn ve çocuk ilişkisi sürecinde doğrudan ya da d... more Psikososyal ve davranışsal birtakım sorunlar ebeveyn ve çocuk ilişkisi sürecinde doğrudan ya da dolaylı olarak çeşitli güçlüklerin yaşanmasına sebebiyet verebilmektedir. Bu doğrultuda ebeveyn-çocuk ilişkisinde yaşanan güçlükler ile baş etmede atılabilecek ilk adımlardan biri ise ilişkide yaşanan sorunların tespit edilmesidir. Sorunların doğru tespiti diğer bir aşama olan etkili çözüm önerilerinin geliştirilmesini mümkün kılabilir. Erken çocukluk eğitimi sürecinde ebeveyn-çocuk ilişkisinde yaşanan güçlüklere yönelik eğitim programlarının sağladığı çözüm olanakları da oldukça etkili olabilmektedir. Özellikle ebeveyn-çocuk ilişkisinde yaşanan güçlüklere yönelik ebeveyn farkındalık düzeyi, erken çocukluk eğitim süreci, erken çocukluk programlarının etkili yanları gibi konular önemli görülmekte ve pek çok araştırmanın konusu olmaktadır. Bu bilgilerin ışığında bu araştırmanın amacı erken çocukluk eğitim programlarının ebeveyn- çocuk ilişkisinde yaşanan güçlüklerin çözümüne etkisinin incelenmesi olarak belirlenmiştir. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemi kullanılmış ve araştırmacının amacına ve doğasına uygun düşen fenomenoloji deseni tercih edilmiştir. Araştırmanın örneklemi İstanbul sınırları içerisinde yer alan erken çocukluk programlarının uygulandığı bir okul öncesi eğitim kurumunun paydaşları olan yöneticiler, öğretmenler ve velilerden oluşmuştur. Veri toplama aracı olarak “Demografik Bilgi Formu” ve “Yarı Yapılandırılmış Görüşme Formu” kullanılmıştır. Veri toplama süreci 2022-2023 akademik yılı bahar döneminde gerçekleşmiştir. Veri analizi boyutunda ise betimsel analiz tekniği kullanılarak katılımcıların görüşleri birebir alıntılama yolu ile çözümlenmiştir. Araştırmanın sonucunda erken çocukluk eğitim programlarında ebeveyn-çocuk ilişkisinde yaşanan güçlükler belirlenmiş ve ilgili güçlükler ile baş etmede erken çocukluk eğitim programının etkileri ortaya konmuştur. Son olarak araştırmacılara, uygulayıcılara ve velilere çeşitli önerilerde bulunulmuştur.

In the age that we are living now, the interaction among countries has been increased with the in... more In the age that we are living now, the interaction among countries has been increased with the influence of globalization. This requires individuals to learn a second even a third language other than their mother tongue. In this sense English is the leading language throughout the world. English teaching includes four main skills listening, reading, speaking and writing. Among those, speaking stands out as the most important skill, because being able to speak a language is an indicator for well acquired language and the skills other than speaking. An important step to overcome the difficulties in improving English speaking skill is to develop instructional designs with this scope.

Bu faktörlerden biri ise şüphesiz eğitimi veren personelin mesleki gelişiminin sağlanmasıdır. Mesleki gelişimi sağlamanın önemli bir yolu da ihtiyaç analizinden geçmektedir. İhtiyaç analizi, eğitimi veren personelin geliştirmeye ihtiyaç duyduğu mesleki özelliklerin tespit edilmesi ve buna yönelik gerekli adımların atılması noktasında önem arz etmektedir. Bu doğrultuda araştırmanın amacı, yükseköğretimde İngilizce hazırlık okulu öğretim görevlilerinin geliştirmeye ihtiyaç duydukları mesleki becerileri tespit etmek olarak belirlenmiştir. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sadece bir yükseköğretim kurumunun bir birimini kapsadığından bütüncül tek durum deseni tercih edilmiştir. Katılımcılar arasında öğretim görevlileri, yöneticiler, öğrenciler ve öğretim üyeleri bulunmaktadır. Katılımcıların seçiminde kolay ulaşılabilir ve ölçüt örnekleme tekniklerinden yararlanılmıştır. Görüşme tekniğinin kullanıldığı araştırmada Mesleki Becerilere Yönelik Görüşme Formu uygulanmıştır. Veri toplama süreci 2018 – 2019 akademik yılı bahar döneminde, sekiz haftada gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veri analizinde betimsel analiz ve içerik analizi teknikleri kullanılmıştır. Betimsel analiz ile zengin bilgi ve tecrübe paylaşımı amaçlanırken; içerik analizi ile öğretim görevlilerinin geliştirmeye ihtiyaç duydukları mesleki beceriler tespit edilmiştir. Araştırmanın sonucunda, öğretim görevlilerinin geliştirmeye ihtiyaç duyduğu 20 mesleki beceri tespit edilmiştir.

resource. Generally, having a good reservoir of vocabulary makes the skills of listening,
speaking, reading and writing easier to perform. Language games, which have a
significant educational value in vocabulary teaching, are plainly designed with
educational aims. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness
of language games in teaching vocabulary. Within this framework, this study aims to
find answers to these questions: Are language games useful in the process of vocabulary
teaching to young learners? If so, what are the attitudes of young language learners
towards language games? And, how do language games effect young learners’ language
development? The sample of the study consists of 100 fifth graders. These young
learners are from a state-run primary school in Istanbul/Turkey. In this study, the data is
collected through multiple choice vocabulary tests and semi structured interviews. To
measure the change in the vocabulary knowledge of young learners, a pretest-posttest
control group design is used. To elicit the ideas of young learners about the
effectiveness of language games and to reveal the attitudes of young learners towards
these educational games, the semi-structured interview is applied. Results of the study
show that games facilitate vocabulary learning and are one of the effective ways of

countries, the effects of globalization increased in our age and this
necessitate individuals to learn another language other than mother
tongue; in this sense, English becomes more important. English includes
four fundamental skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking. Among
those peaking stands out as the most important skill because it is the
most important indicators of expressing to know a language. However
speaking and listening skills in a different language are complex to
develop and it needs hard work. The aim of this study is to determine
university preparatory class students’ needs for English speaking.
Questionnaire and attitude scale were conducted to 165 preparatory
students at university. Interviews were conducted with six students
three of which are women and three of which are men and four
instructors. In addition, the observation was made in one of preparatory
class in which there were 21 students. Attitude Scale about Speaking
English, Perceptions and Needs Assessment Survey Towards the Basic
English Skills, Interview and Observation Form were used for data
collection. According to results, students participating to study indicated
that fluency, vocabulary and intelligibility were important for speaking
English. In addition students have shown that being extremely excited,
concerning about making mistakes and insufficient vocabulary were the
obstacles of speaking English. Both instructor and students specified
that the goal of preparation program is not to improve speaking skills;
therefore the activities in lessons are not related to speaking. Besides, the
lack of practical activities about speaking, book-oriented activities, more
emphasis on writing and reading skills are the other subjects mentioned.
Instead of speaking skills, the instructors and English preparation
program focus on activities and skills that prepares to academic life.

Especially during the last two decades, it has been used by many educational institutions in the assessment of educational needs. Because of its widespread use and increased prevalence, this study's purpose is to explain the needs analysis in program development with its different dimensions and holistic reality. This research is a qualitative study based on the descriptive analysis of the documents that are obtained by using the snowball sampling technique. In the current research, efforts to provide validity and reliability were tried to be carried out objectively, colleague confirmation was taken and expert examination was carried out. In the research, the definition, history, purpose, approaches, types, techniques and stages of needs analysis are explained. In the research, it has been reached that needs assessment is not a matter of preference but a necessity. That is why it is necessary to critically focus on needs analysis in program development. A number of suggestions are presented considering the importance of this topic.

Convenience and criterion sampling techniques were used in the selection of the participants. In the study in which interview technique was used, an interview form was implemented in order to ascertain the professional skills. The data collection process was carried out over the course of eight weeks. Descriptive analysis and content analysis techniques were used in data analysis. While the opinions of the English preparatory school stakeholders were shared via verbatim quotation technique during the descriptive analysis process, the professional skills that English preparatory instructors require to improve were determined via the content analysis of the participants' relevant opinions. As a result of the research, professional skills that these instructors need to enhance were identified.

Because of its widespread use and increasing importance, the overall aim of this research is to investigate İstanbul Zaim University, English Preparatory School Students’ attitudes in terms of writing course towards Cambridge
Learning Management System. The target population of the study, which was carried out on the basis of survey design, consisted of İstanbul Zaim University, English Preparatory Program students in spring term, in 2015-2016 academic year. The sample of this research, which was selected by using stratifies sampling techniques among students who studied at four different language levels of English Prep. School Program, consisted of 313 students. 166 students (53%) were female and 147 students (47%) were male. The age distribution of students was in the range of 17 to 25 years old. In this study, a learning management system attitude scale, which was prepared by the researchers by conducting a validity and reliability study on 305 students and a writing course achievement test, which had convergent validity with Cambridge Publishing Company’s standard achievement test, were used as a data collection tool. In the analysis of data, which was collected through face to face
applications, SPSS was used. In terms of overall aim and sub goals of the study, percentage, mean, standard deviation, independent sample t-test, one-way analysis of variance and simple linear regression analysis were used. The findings showed thatEnglish Prep. School students had positive attitudes towards learning management system. In addition, the gender of the students, age, the type
of high school they graduated and their concluded that “students’ writing course achievement” was a significant predictor of attitudes towards learning management system. Recommendations towards the further dissemination of the learning management system, which continuously increases the quality of education especially in terms of e-learning, were put forward.

In this study, the “understanding by design” model combined with a model of motivational design w... more In this study, the “understanding by design” model combined with a model of motivational design was used to improve English-speaking skills of university preparatory school students and to increase their motivation. By using the design-based approach, the performance of students’ speaking skills was evaluated with different techniques in three cycles. The mixed method, in which the qualitative method dominated, was used in the study. The researcher observation form and student reflection report were used throughout each cycle. In the first cycle, presentation activity was done and it was found that word knowledge was effective in speaking. A peer form, an observation form and reflection reports of the students were used as data collection tools. However, because of students’ poor performance at some points in the presentation activity, it was supported by a debate activity in the second cycle. In this regard, students thought that it was useful for them to speak fluently and be active in the classroom. The observation form and reflection reports of students were used as data collection tools. In the third cycle, ‘role-play activity’ was used by taking account of its effectiveness with smaller groups and extra time. A peer form, an observation form and reflection reports of the students were used as data collection tools. At the end of the design, the focus group and individual interviews were made with the students. Finally, the data which was obtained from teachers’ and students’ views showed that the design increased motivation and improved students’ speaking skills.

Thus, learning languages effectively from an earlier age holds potential for future learning.

Currently, English is the lingua franca in education, science, information technology, business, aviation, entertainment, and diplomacy. About 80 percent of the English speakers are nonnative speakers (Braine, 2006 as cited in jerkins, 2007). Therefore, most of the countries in the world attach great importance to teaching and learning English as a second or foreign language and form their educational policies accordingly. In Turkey, English is learned as a foreign language to provide communication with other countries for a variety of purposes such as scientific, military, economic and social development. English is learned by different age groups, especially starting from 2 nd grades in state-run primary education. Ministry of Education specifies the objectives of learning English in state-run primary schools as: Students will demonstrate the knowledge of reading and writing in the target language, use language for communication and understand what they hear and read (MEB, 2006). To be able to achieve these objectives, it is important to know young learners more closely and put emphasis on their characteristics of language learning. Each learner is unique in learning. In other words, they may have different learning styles in learning vocabulary. Learning vocabulary is a part of language learning. It is an integral part of any kind of language learning since a good knowledge of vocabulary allows for a good communication. Young learners can learn a huge amount of vocabulary through games. All types of games may be used in an educational environment. Educational games are designed to assist young learners to learn about certain topics, enlarge perceptions, strengthen language development, understand a historical event or culture, or assist them in learning a skill as they play. As teachers, governments and parents, we should realize the psychological needs of children for games. Game is an interactive play that teaches young learners goals, rules, adaptation, problem solving, interaction abilities etc... They provide young learners the essential needs of vocabulary learning by providing enjoyment, passionate involvement, organization, motivation, imagination, inspiration, social communication and collaboration and feelings. Moreover, students learn without knowing it (Schultz & Fisher, 1988). In general, language games are the activities which are used in the classroom as a facilitator to boost foreign language acquisition. According to Hadfield, (1990, as cited in Deesri, 2002) "game is an activity which has certain rules, a goal and an element of fun". Games designers define the term 'game' as an organization in which players take part in an artificial conflict (Salen & Zimmerman, 2003).

Sanal zorbaya veya sanal mağdura rast gelinen bir yaş grubu da lise öğrencileridir. Sanal zorbalık lise öğrencilerinin tutumlarını, algılarını, davranışlarını ve akademik başarı durumlarını doğrudan ya da dolaylı olarak etkileyebilmektedir. Bu sebeple lise öğrencilerinin sanal zorbalığa yönelik farkındalık düzeyi, sanal zorbalık ile baş etme stratejileri ve sanal zorbalığa maruz kalma sıklığı gibi konular önemli görülmekte ve pek çok araştırmanın konusu olmaktadır. Bu araştırmanın amacı çeşitli ortaöğretim programlarında öğrenim gören öğrencilerin sanal zorbalık ile baş etme düzeylerini incelemektir. Bu doğrultuda araştırmada nicel yöntem ve tekil tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini İstanbul sınırları içerisinde yer alan çeşitli eğitim programlarına sahip ortaöğretim kurumları ve bu kurumların farklı sınıflarında okuyan lise öğrencileri oluşturmuştur. Veri toplama aracı olarak “Sanal Zorbalıkla Baş Etme Ölçeği” ve “Sosyodemografik Bilgi Formu” kullanılmıştır. Veri toplama süreci 2022-2023 akademik yılı güz döneminde 12 haftayı kapsamıştır. Veri analizinde parametrik varsayımların karşılandığı durumlarda kullanılan tek örneklem t testi, bağımsız örneklem t testi ve anova testi gibi birtakım betimsel ve yordayıcı istatistik teknikleri bir arada kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonucunda çeşitli ortaöğretim programlarında öğrenim gören öğrencilerin sanal zorbalık ile baş etme düzeyleri belirlenmiş ve birtakım değişkenlerin istatistiksel olarak anlamlı olup olmadığı tespit edilmiştir.

Bu doğrultuda ebeveyn-çocuk ilişkisinde yaşanan güçlükler ile baş etmede atılabilecek ilk adımlardan biri ise ilişkide yaşanan sorunların tespit edilmesidir. Sorunların doğru tespiti diğer bir aşama olan etkili çözüm önerilerinin geliştirilmesini mümkün kılabilir. Erken çocukluk eğitimi sürecinde ebeveyn-çocuk ilişkisinde yaşanan güçlüklere yönelik eğitim programlarının sağladığı çözüm olanakları da oldukça etkili olabilmektedir. Bu bilgilerin ışığında bu araştırmanın amacı erken çocukluk eğitim programlarının ebeveyn- çocuk ilişkisinde yaşanan güçlüklerin çözümüne etkisinin incelenmesi olarak belirlenmiştir. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemi kullanılmış ve araştırmacının amacına ve doğasına uygun düşen fenomenoloji deseni tercih edilmiştir. Araştırmanın örneklemi İstanbul sınırları içerisinde yer alan erken çocukluk programlarının uygulandığı bir okul öncesi eğitim kurumunun paydaşları olan yöneticiler, öğretmenler ve velilerden oluşmuştur. Veri toplama aracı olarak “Demografik Bilgi Formu” ve “Yarı Yapılandırılmış Görüşme Formu” kullanılmıştır. Veri toplama süreci 2022-2023 akademik yılı bahar döneminde gerçekleşmiştir. Veri analizi boyutunda ise betimsel analiz tekniği kullanılarak katılımcıların görüşleri birebir alıntılama yolu ile çözümlenmiştir. Araştırmanın sonucunda erken çocukluk eğitim programlarında ebeveyn-çocuk ilişkisinde yaşanan güçlükler belirlenmiş ve ilgili güçlükler ile baş etmede erken çocukluk eğitim programının etkileri ortaya konmuştur. Son olarak araştırmacılara, uygulayıcılara ve velilere çeşitli önerilerde bulunulmuştur.

This requires individuals to learn a second even a third language other than their mother tongue. In this sense English is the leading language throughout the world. English teaching includes four main skills listening, reading, speaking and writing. Among those, speaking stands out as the most important skill, because being able to speak a language is an indicator for well acquired language and the skills other than speaking. An important step to overcome the difficulties in improving English speaking skill is to develop instructional designs with this scope.

Bu faktörlerden biri ise şüphesiz eğitimi veren personelin mesleki gelişiminin sağlanmasıdır. Mesleki gelişimi sağlamanın önemli bir yolu da ihtiyaç analizinden geçmektedir. İhtiyaç analizi, eğitimi veren personelin geliştirmeye ihtiyaç duyduğu mesleki özelliklerin tespit edilmesi ve buna yönelik gerekli adımların atılması noktasında önem arz etmektedir. Bu doğrultuda araştırmanın amacı, yükseköğretimde İngilizce hazırlık okulu öğretim görevlilerinin geliştirmeye ihtiyaç duydukları mesleki becerileri tespit etmek olarak belirlenmiştir. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sadece bir yükseköğretim kurumunun bir birimini kapsadığından bütüncül tek durum deseni tercih edilmiştir. Katılımcılar arasında öğretim görevlileri, yöneticiler, öğrenciler ve öğretim üyeleri bulunmaktadır. Katılımcıların seçiminde kolay ulaşılabilir ve ölçüt örnekleme tekniklerinden yararlanılmıştır. Görüşme tekniğinin kullanıldığı araştırmada Mesleki Becerilere Yönelik Görüşme Formu uygulanmıştır. Veri toplama süreci 2018 – 2019 akademik yılı bahar döneminde, sekiz haftada gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veri analizinde betimsel analiz ve içerik analizi teknikleri kullanılmıştır. Betimsel analiz ile zengin bilgi ve tecrübe paylaşımı amaçlanırken; içerik analizi ile öğretim görevlilerinin geliştirmeye ihtiyaç duydukları mesleki beceriler tespit edilmiştir. Araştırmanın sonucunda, öğretim görevlilerinin geliştirmeye ihtiyaç duyduğu 20 mesleki beceri tespit edilmiştir.

Araştırmada nitel ve nicel veriler aşamalı olarak beş farklı zaman diliminde toplanmıştır. Araştırmanın sonucunda İngilizce hazırlık okulu öğretim görevlilerinin mesleki gelişimine katkıda bulunmak amacıyla ‘‘Mesleki Becerileri Geliştirme Programı’’ geliştirilmiştir. Son olarakuygulayıcılara ve araştırmacılara yönelik önerilerde bulunulmuştur.

Generally, having a good reservoir of vocabulary makes the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing easier to perform. Language games, which have asignificant educational value in vocabulary teaching, are plainly designed with educational aims. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of language games in teaching vocabulary. Within this framework, this study aims to find answers to these questions: Are language games useful in theprocess of vocabulary teaching to young learners? If so, what are the attitudes of young language learners towards language games? And, how do language games effect young learners’ language development? The sample of the study consists of 100 fifth graders.These young learners are from a state-run primary school in Istanbul/Turkey. In this study, the data is collected through multiple choice vocabulary tests and semi structured interviews. To measure the change in the vocabulary knowledge of young learners, a pretest-posttestcontrol group design is used. To elicit the ideas of young learners about the effectiveness of language games and to reveal the attitudes of young learners towards these educational games, the semi-structured interview is applied. Results of the study show that games facilitate vocabulary learning and are one of the effective ways of vocabulary teaching.
