I set up this journal originally under another name some years ago in order to rave on about my passions for all my latest loves, my love of books, especially those written by JRR Tolkien and my recent love of hiking the many trails in Ontario, Canada. Certainly over the years I've changed in some ways. I used to be very open and trusting but have since learned that you cannot be this way on the internet.
Personally, I am a female living in Canada (Toronto area), married with children and some cats, now retired. I have worked in the medical profession and in the financial area in the past. I have studied Spanish at college and used to hanker to study web design once I learned to speak Spanish fully. But other things have gotten in the way of my academic wishes. I'd like to go back and do one thing I always wanted--study English literature at University.
You should find (if you friend me or accept my friend request) that I am very easy to get along with, even if your opinion differs from mine. It doesn't matter to me if you don't like my personal choices. But I will talk passionately about my own. I also love to travel/read about peoples' travels, and have recently visited Portugal, Italy, Germany and Spain.
I am a sports fan and enjoy most sports, but am most passionate about football, tennis, olympics (both summer & winter) and figure skating. My tastes in favourite teams and players changes over the years except for River Plate and Benfica, both football teams my most favourites forever.
My tastes in movies, TV and reading have changed a lot as well, but I will always keep anything written by J.R.R. Tolkien closest to my heart. And lately I've been more interested in "foreign" movies and TV over American shows.
Since retiring I've also become much more interested in politics. American politics remains the most fascinating to me. By nature I am a liberal and always will be, and although my interest in socialism remains pretty steady at the moment it has fluctuated in the past between my being a die-hard socialist to a more middle-of-the road person politically. I could never, ever embrace the right-wing stance on anything.
