The study investigated leadership style and organizational climate as determinants of job involve... more The study investigated leadership style and organizational climate as determinants of job involvement and job satisfaction of workers in tertiary institutions in Ekiti State, Nigeria. A total of 300 employees drawn from three educational institutions in Ekiti State participated in the study. They comprised of 150 male and 150 female. Four research instruments were used to collect data and responses from the research participants. The research instruments are Supervisory Behavior Description Questionnaire (SBDQ), Job Involvement Scale (JI). Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire (MSQ) and Index of Organizational Reaction (IQR). Results showed that leadership styles and organizational climate have significant influence on job satisfaction. Also, significant influence of leadership styles and organizational climate was found on job involvement. In the same vein, significant relationship was found between job satisfaction and organizational climate; between job satisfaction and job involvement; and between organizational climate and job involvement. However, there was no significant relationship between job satisfaction and leadership styles; and between job involvement and leadership styles. No significant difference existed between job involvement and leadership styles, and none existed between job satisfaction and leadership styles.

Most of the studies were conducted at elementary, secondary and college level in (India, Malaysia, Turkey, Iran, Poland, Oman, Indonesia, and Saudi Arabia). Most of the studies on multiple intelligences have been conducted with respect to academic achievement and achievement in different subjects as English, Mathematics, Science, Biology, Physics, Social Science, Chemistry and Physical sciences. The review of literature revealed that “multiple intelligences” is a very vital factor in the overall as well as subject wise academic achievement of students. The implication of the paper is that multiple intelligence approach should be integrated at all the levels of education system for the evolution of a balanced personality of students.

The purpose of the review was to have an insight on how coping strategies affect the self-concept of students. Most of the studies were focused on students in secondary schools and a few in universities. Geographically, the studies were conducted in Africa and Asia. From the rigorous review of the literature, it has been shown that coping strategies and self-concept are complex issues in education which need attention from all the stakeholders in education. If properly understood and managed, they are potential tools for achievement of students.

Parental encouragement can nurture the hidden potentialities in children and lead to success in d... more Parental encouragement can nurture the hidden potentialities in children and lead to success in different walks of life. Academic performance is one of the important goals of education and has always been influenced by number of factors including parental encouragement and school environment. Keeping this in view a study was conducted to explore the parental encouragement and school environment of senior secondary school students and to analyze their relationship with academic performance of students. The study was descriptive survey in nature and simple random sampling technique was used for selection of the sample. The participants in the study included 300 senior secondary school girls (150 girls from each type of school i.e. co-education schools and girls' schools, out of each school 30 girls). For analysis of data, parametric statistical techniques were used. The study revealed that senior secondary school girls studying in co-education schools and girls' school had similar academic performance. Senior secondary school girls studying in girls schools had higher parental encouragement as compared to their counterparts in coeducational schools. Senior secondary schoolgirls studying in coeducational schools had higher permissiveness as compared to those studying in girls' school, while those in girls' school had higher control as compared to their counterparts in co-education schools. Significant positive relationship was found between academic performance of senior secondary school girls with parental encouragement and school environment.
