| Great episode as always guys. Aside from me wanting to shout out loud about Ant Man or Susan Richards' pregnancy at a few moments, but overall amusing as always. Yeah, I completely confused Franklin and Sue's miscarried baby. At least I realized it at the last second. That movie was so good, wasn't it? I'm kind of surprised Dana didn't see most of the other Marvel movies. Not that you have to to get the full story in Avengers (okay, maybe Thor since Loki is the villain), but things like Banner getting a bit more control over the Hulk at the end of his movie play an important part.The way it was described by the writers of Thor is that, no, the Asguardians don't use actual magic, they just have technology that's so highly advanced - mechanisms so minute so as to be invisible, the way it links with operators' minds and harnesses energy - that it's become indistinguishable from magic (based on the old Arthur C. Clarke quote about advanced alien societies). One of the most interesting aspects of having seen all of the films is that Tony's Iron Man armor is essentially the first draft of getting humanity to the level of Asguardian tech, which is why he can hold his own against them while still having limitations that leave him with extreme battle damage. In fact Tony's arc reactor technology - both the big one powering the tower and the small one in his chest which powers his suit - is based on the designs of his father, Howard Stark. And Howard's designs were based on what was learned about the Tesseract through its involvement in Captain America. So Iron Man is tied to Thor and the Asguardians through the Tesseract in a way very similar to how Hulk is tied to Captain America through the Super-Soldier Serum.It all ties together, which, for my money, is one of the coolest aspects of what they're doing with this series. :)Excellent, as always. :DIf I may ask, what's the piano song right at the end of the podcast? |
