This article explores the various dimensions of academic stress factors, coping, and social-cultu... more This article explores the various dimensions of academic stress factors, coping, and social-cultural adaptation on psychological well-being of 150 Indonesian postgraduate students. The study implemented a correlational research design whereby a conceptual model was produced, which correlated both the dependent and independent variables. Data analysis was performed using SPSS and SmartPLS (Partial Least Squares). The scientific novelty includes the conceptualization of academic stress, coping, social-cultural adaptation, and psychological well-being among Indonesian postgraduate students; thus, results may differ from previous findings, while contributing an in-depth knowledge in this area. Based on the result, there is a significant correlation (r=0.328) between metacognition and emotion regulation among pre-service teachers. Teacher education should focus on pre-service teachers’ metacognitive development to improve emotion regulation.

In this study, the researchers conducted cross-cultural adaptation for the Happiness at Work scale following systematic procedures to produce the Scale of Happiness at Work in the Indonesian language. This study used experimental method with one group pretest-posttest design. The effectiveness test has been done on 10 participants using the experimental group of pretest-posttest with the scale post traumatic growth showed post-traumatic growth (SD = 10.5) and significance (p = 0.013), thus the expressive writing module is effective to improve post traumatic growth on victims in Lombok. A total of 100 preschool children aged 5–7 years were selected as respondents. Purposive sampling was done using McCarthy Scales of Children’s Abilities (MSCA) to measure the level of cognitive abilities of the children. This instrument consists of three scales: verbal, perceptual-performance, and quantitative. The overall results show the level of cognitive ability of majority preschool children in Malaysia at moderate level.

This study used mix method to explore the EFL teachers' and students’ attitudes towards using code-switching in their College English classroom and the differences between novice and experienced teachers when they were using code-switching at their pedagogies activities. 24 EFL teachers and 243 undergraduate students were involved in quantitative research, and 4 EFL teachers took participants in the qualitative analysis. The results showed there is no significant difference between EFL teachers and students’ attitudes using codeswitching in the EFL classroom while, experienced and novice teachers have significantly different between novice and experienced EFL teachers by MANOVA. This is achieved by exploring to what extent Malaysian parents provide scaffolding to their preschoolers in mathematics homework interactions. Investigations about the strategies employed by the parents during scaffolding and non-scaffolding interactions were carried out. Three mothers, with different parenting styles and education levels, and their preschoolers were observed and interviewed. In general, the occurrences of contingency, fading and transfer of responsibility were found to be scarce. Diagnostic and intervention strategies were also analysed and discussed.

The focus of this study was to comparisons between out-of-field and in-field teachers with respec... more The focus of this study was to comparisons between out-of-field and in-field teachers with respect to their own as well as their students' characteristics. The study adopted quantitative method using stratified random sampling from 18 secondary schools in Malaysia. A total of 52 History teachers and 1653 students from year 11 (Form Four) participated. The method involved collecting information from the respondents by using two sets of questionnaires, one for teachers and one for students. Results indicates over two-thirds (71.7%) of the teachers were females and two fifths were aged between 31 and 40 years (40%). All of the teachers had at least a tertiary diploma or university degree from local universities. Most of the teachers had worked between 2 and 5 years in public schools. In the case of the students, most were 16 years old, and more than a half (58.3%) were female. The results showed that the in-field teachers had more experience in teaching History compared to the out-offield teachers. In terms of teaching conceptions, the conduct guidance dimension was found to differ significantly, but not the other dimensions. This indicated that in-field teachers had higher levels of nurturing good conduct in their students, compared to the out-of-field teachers. In addition, the results indicated that students under in-field teachers preferred to have classrooms with higher levels of investigation, personalization, participation and differentiation activities. In their actual classrooms, students under in-field teachers had experienced higher levels of personalisation.

Results indicates over two-thirds (71.7%) of the teachers were females and two fifths were aged between 31 and 40 years (40%). All of the teachers had at least a tertiary diploma or university degree from local universities. Most of the teachers had worked between 2 and 5 years in public schools. In the case of the students, most were 16 years old, and more than a half (58.3%) were female. The results showed that the in-field teachers had more experience in teaching History compared to the out-offield teachers. In terms of teaching conceptions, the conduct guidance dimension was found to differ significantly, but not the other dimensions. This indicated that in-field teachers had higher levels of nurturing good conduct in their students, compared to the out-of-field teachers. In addition, the results indicated that students under in-field teachers preferred to have classrooms with higher levels of investigation, personalization, participation and differentiation activities. In their actual classrooms, students under in-field teachers had experienced higher levels of personalisation.

The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. The district has a total of 24 public and 3 private secondary schools. The study used a target population sample of 240 students, 6 principals, 6 teacher counselors, and 3 education officials from 8 schools.
