Writing as basic literacy is the main material in the 2013 curriculum. One type of writing is writing instructions which require the abilities and skills acquired from educational institutions to be applied in everyday life. Writing instructions is one of the four language skills should be mastered by students. Therefore, Indonesian language teachers are required to master the material for writing instructions both theoretically and practically. Theoretically, it explained about the meaning of writing, types of writing, writing instructions. Practically, they were implemented in learning according to Regulations of the Minister of Education and Culture Number 22 of 2016 and Number 103 of 2014 concerning on standard process. This study aims to improve the speaking ability of students in class VIII-2 at SMP Negeri 7 Ambon... more This study aims to improve the speaking ability of students in class VIII-2 at SMP Negeri 7 Ambon through the communicative approach. The research data is in the form of speaking ability test results in each cycle. The research subjects were students of class VIII-2 SMP Negeri 7 Ambon. The final score of each student is obtained from the acquisition score divided by the total score then multiplied by the ideal score (100). The final value is then converted according to the specified criteria. The results showed that there was an increase in students' speaking ability at class VIII-2 SMP Negeri 7 Ambon through communicative approach. This can be seen from the number of students who achieved the minimum completeness criteria (in Indonesia = KKM) in the first cycle, namely 12 students (54,54%) to 18 students (81,81%) in the second cycle.

Karya sastra lahir bukan dari ruang kosong melompong, tetapi dari sebuah interaksi dengan realitas kehidupan manusia. Salah satu realitas dalam kehidupan dunia kontemporer sekarang ini adalah adanya krisis identitas dan subjektivitas. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menemukan dan mendeskripsikan habitus dan arena dalam novel Taman Api karya Yonathan Rahrdjo. Data dikumpulkan dengan teknik pustaka. Dengan menggunakan teori medan sastra Pierre Bourdieu, ditemukan bahwa (1) novel Taman Api menggambarkan bentuk habitus atau cara pandang seseorang dalam menentukan tindakan. Habitus agen terus bergerak dari waktu ke waktu. Pergerakan itu diakibatkan oleh pengalaman, didikan, atau bahkan pergaulan; (2) arena dalam novel Taman Api berupa arena kedokteran yang dianggap arena orang berkelas. Folk songs have the power to represent the local knowledge of a community. Therefore, a study is needed to reveal this. This research aims at revealing the local knowledge of the Buru people contained in the Buru’s weneks (folk songs). The research data are the song texts (eight weneks) obtained from four informants, namely several village elders as the owner of the songs. This research is a qualitative descriptive study with an ethnographic approach. The data were collected through (1) observation, (2) in-depth interviews, and (3) recording techniques. The data analysis procedure was carried out by (1) sorting the data according to the research findings; (2) reading and checking the data to ensure their accuracy; and (3) coding the data with letters and numbers. This research is aimed at finding out the effect of the discovery learning model on students’ abi... more This research is aimed at finding out the effect of the discovery learning model on students’ ability in determining character education values in folklore at the tenth-grade students of SMA Negeri 3 Ambon. This belongs to experimental research. This research data is the students’ test results in determining character education values in folklore. The number of the sample is 38 students (the experimental class) and 35 students (the control class). SPSS version 23 is used to analyze the data. The result shows that there is an effect of the discovery learning model on students’ ability in determining character education values in folklore at the tenth-grade students of SMA Negeri 3 Ambon. It is proved through the result of the independent sample t-test which is t-count > t-table (4.353 > 1.994). The purpose of this research is to find and describe the relationship between Hemingway’s life st... more The purpose of this research is to find and describe the relationship between Hemingway’s life story in A Farewell to Arms and his real life. This research is a qualitative descriptive study with a historical-biographical approach, that is, an approach that sees literature as the life and era of its author. The research data is in the form of novel texts that describe the characters and the setting of the place. The data were obtained by using the reading-note technique, namely reading the data carefully and recording the parts of the data related to the setting, characters, and characterizations. The data were analyzed by describing the setting and characters in A Farewell to Arms then compared with the data on The German Wars 1914–194, World War I and http://id.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernest_Hemingway. The results of the analysis show that there is a relationship between the character and place in A Farewell to Arms and the author’s life.

Data penelitian ini berupa hasil tes menulis puisi yang diambil dari setiap siklus. Sampel berjumlah 25 siswa. Data tes dianalisis menggunakan rumus, yakni nilai siswa diperoleh dari hasil bagi jumlah skor yang diperoleh siswa dengan skor ideal. Hasil tes siswa kemudian dikualifikasi sesuai kriteria yang telah ditentukan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan hasil belajar menulis puisi siswa kelas VIII-1 SMP Negeri 17 Ambon dengan menggunakan media gambar berseri. The aims of this study were to find and describe (1) the declarative, (2) the expressive, (3) the... more The aims of this study were to find and describe (1) the declarative, (2) the expressive, (3) the commissive, (4) the directive, and (5) the assertive speech functions in the folk songs of Buru Island, Maluku Province.This research belonged to a descriptive qualitative study. The research data was in the form of folk song texts, informant statements, and facts in the research location. Data collection activities were carried out by observation techniques, in-depth interviews, and recording. The procedure of data analysis used a spiral model proposed by Creswell, while the agih method was used to analyze the data. To avoid research bias, triangulation was carried out on each stage of research, research tools, and clarification of research findings to the informants as owners of the folk songs, Focus Group Discussion, and external audits. The findings of this study, namely the speech function in Buru folk songs were in the form of (1) declarative speech function prohibiting, (2) expressive speech functions praising, (3) commissive speech functions threatening, (4) speech function directive recommending, and (5) assertive speech function convincing.Theoretically, this study strengthens speech act theory because the findings of this study indicate that speech functions actualize narrative attitudes and styles. Practically, this finding is useful for universities that are related to teaching oral literature courses and pragmatic subjects.
