Yuletide! | [19 Oct 2009|12:30pm] |
---|---|
The 2009 yuletide challenge is about to get under way. For those of you who are unfamiliar with it, Yuletide is a Secret Santa exchange for fandoms which don't have much fanfic available (FAQ here). I would encourage anyone who might be interested in receiving/writing Max Headroom fic to check it out. Right now, we're in the nomination stages. MH has already been nominated, so you don't need to worry about getting in on that, but you might want to see if any other fandoms you're interested in have been nominated. (Yuletide requires people to sign up to receive and write several different fandoms, to make matching possible, so you can't pick just one.) Signups will start in, I believe, late October. | |

wanted: clip from "Blanks" | [25 Aug 2009|03:44pm] |
---|---|
I've got a Max Headroom vid in the planning stages, and I'd really like to use the clip from the end of "Blanks" where Reg dances on the roof of the Big Time bus. Unfortunately, the copy I have is from TechTV, and they squished the screen to one side and ran credits on the other. Does anyone have a decent copy of that episode, or even just the last scene? | |

Max fic for the holidays? | [06 Nov 2008|01:40am] |
---|---|
[ **mood** | excited ] Hello all! I've been a quiet little lurker of late, but I wanted to alert my fellow fans of the Headroom to a couple of possibilities for fan fiction.First of all, The Yuletide 2008 Obscure Fandom Fanfic Exchange is open for participant signups until 9pm Eastern time on Monday, November 10th. Max did indeed make it onto the list of requested fandoms, so you can request a piece of fan fiction, offer to write some or both! Yuletide is great fun and a wonderful way to both give and get a little fannish present.Secondly, smallfandomfest has started accepting prompt submissions for their fourth small fandom ficathon, and will continue to do so until the 21st. A few MH prompts have already been submitted, but more would be wonderful! Prompts will be up for claiming on November 23rd. You can also sign up to pimp your favorite small fandom, and I don't believe anyone's written about the folks at Network 23 yet. The deadline for both fics and pimps is January 31st.Feel free to nudge me if you have any questions about either ficfest! | |

Costume and prop thoughts... | [02 Apr 2006|10:45pm] |
---|---|
Been working around the idea of doing some game convention costumes with the theme of 'Combat Cameraman'. Basically the rough and tumble reporter like Edison Carter stuff. So now I'm looking for some info:What type of camera did Edison Carter carry? If you don't know the brand or model just pointing me at something as close to it as possible would really help. Been looking over Ebay for days but there are just so many damn camera's on there. These costumes are going to be more cyberpunkish than they were on the show. Going to add in some wires, a keyboard attached to the leg via velcro etc. Anybody got any other ideas what would look good? Thanks. | |

Max fanfic! | [31 Dec 2005|03:57pm] |
---|---|
[ mood | yay! ] Hi,I wanted to let you all know about the story that was written for me in this year's yuletide challenge:Title: The Beginning of EducationRating: G Summary: Edison tells a story. Edifying lessons are found. It's a story about one of Edison's earliest journalistic assignments, and the author (still unknown until tomorrow! *g*) does a great job getting the characters down, especially Edison and Max. I absolutely believe Edison would act (and react) the way he does here. The little details are also fabulous -- things like body language and background sights and sounds help the reader get immersed in the story, and I think they're really well done.So if you're looking for Max fanfic, go check it out!(I can't believe I still haven't gotten off my ass and made a Max icon...) | |

Max Headroom on eBay | [17 Sep 2005|11:28am] |
---|---|
New poster here -- unfortunately I was too young to catch Max Headroom on its first run, but after running into Matt Frewer elsewhere a couple years ago, I was determined to somehow get ahold of this series. After much searching, I came across some good luck, which I figured I'd share with the rest of the class!Someone on eBay has gotten together the complete series along with a bunch of extras (including both the UK and US versions of the original story), and has made a large number of 4DVD sets. I ordered one awhile ago, and I can vouch for its quality. Not perfect, but it's more than adequate until an official release. Here is a link to the current auction, but whenever they are sold out the seller starts a new one. Just search for Max Headroom and you should find it! | |

hey there!I've been a Max Headroom fan since it first aired following Moonlighting wayyy back in the day. I had them on beta xferred to vhs and watched the crap out of them for years. I finally found a bootleg of the series, including baby grobags, from when tech tv aired it. In light of that and my silly obsession with this show for years, I grabbed some episode summaries and threw in my 2c on each episode here on my forum. Feel free to check it out or not, I'm not into begging for members to my forums, it's just relevant since it is, afterall, Max. | |

People who get British TV.. | [08 May 2005|11:19am] |
---|---|
Did anyone one else notice the copious Max Headroom refs in last night's Dr Who? The TV-is-eeevil theme (obviously), the random punks, Tamsin Greig in a nurse's outfit, the eighties-style grren and black computer graphics, hell even the layout of the floors in the TV station were the same as Network XXIII. (edited)And of course the giveaway line - "I like to call hime Max."It's all there! | |

Apparently, amazon.com tracks how many people want something released to DVD. You register your e-mail address and they'll let you know when it'll be released. Click this for more information. | |

[ **mood** | amused ] hey everyone, I came across this community and had to join . I never thought in a million years i'd find people who like max headroom. Unfortuntly for me I was born in 88 and did not get to enjoy all those fabulous things that happend in the 80's. I hope it's ok that i am joining even though i'm 16. If I am to young, I understand if you must kick me out. | |

[ **mood** | amused ] I hope you all don't mind if I join you.I loved Max Headroom's appearances on Square-One as a kid in the 80s, and discovered the series in college. A friend had all the episodes on VHS, and we watched the tapes to death. I am currently without access, which saddens me, though I may risk finding an expensive VCD rip one of these days.My favorite episode has to be "The Academy" (Bryce was always my favorite character), though I enjoy every one of them. Other people have favorite episodes? | |

Hey | [06 Jan 2004|01:31pm] |

I didn't think I would find it, but I did... a community for Max Headroom fans. :) I'm all kinds of happy about this... though... well, therre seems to be nothing happening here. Is the show on anymore, on any channels? I don't think it is, but someone may be able to point me in the right direction! I had the episodes on VHS... but, well, when you watch a tape too much, it tends to die...And why is it so hard to find any images online from the show? I definately need to make a better icon than this one. :) | |

what i want to know is: | [21 Aug 2003|12:32pm] |
---|---|
[ **mood** | curious ] _This is Kim Slawson coming at you very much live and direct, and what I want to know is..._Does anyone know anything about the Max Talking Headroom Show?I'd ideally love to find someone who taped it way back when, as I never saw it. Growing up as a child in the 80's I never had access to cable TV, and i didn't even know what Showtime was back then. I did see all of the episodes of the American Max Headroom TV series on ABC when they aired; was overjoyed when Bravo, Sci-Fi, and then TechTV rebroadcast it recently; and have all 14 episodes plus the British pilot and a "Best of Max" compilation on VCD, thanks to a kind soul on usenet's alt.max-headroom. Now I just need to get my hands on the obscure talk-show predecessor to a short-lived cult 80's cyberpunk TV series that never itself made it to VHS, let alone DVD. Sounds easy, right? pffffft. | |

aaaaaaa blipverts! | [26 Mar 2003|05:37pm] |

[ **mood** | thoughtful ] uh oh. a new study found that "viewers who fast forward through ads recall their content at similar rates as those watching at normal speeds."get out the tinfoil helmets, people, because before we know it, Network 23 and the Zik-Zak Corporation will be trying to make our heads explode with accelerated commercials.then again, maybe we just need some Accela to deal with the pace of modern life...(if anyone reads my personal journal, sorry for the crosspost) | |
