_4:11 am_[theonlytime] Free Amazon Prime for students Amazon is currently giving free 1 year memberships to Amazon Prime (free 2 day shipping, $3.99 overnight shipping) to current students with a .edu email address: http://www.amazon.com/gp/student/signup/info I'm not sure how long they're offering this (it doesn't say on the site). Just thought i'd give fellow students the heads up on this in case you haven't heard about it yet. This is going to save me a ton on shipping textbooks this year! (Comment on this)

_7:24 pm_[erase_her] hey everyone. does anyone have answers? I was wondering how the new campus lock out hours is treating everyone this fall 2009 semester.I heard maybe some students were petitioning against the new strict hours. (i was pretty upset when I heard about this)I tried looking for information on why the buildings arent 24 hours anymore. But it seems no one has updated the new MICA website for a while. Does anyone know why exactly its new MICA policy to kick everyone out of all buildings at 2am?The only thing i could think why everyone is required to leave the buildings at 2 am is to reduce the use of energy and cut back MICA's electricity bill. or for reasons dealing with students leaving the campus past 2am being a safety issue. If anyone gots answer please comment back. I am researching this for a class assignment. thanks for reading-sarah (4 Comments |Comment on this)

_11:17 am_[delawareareyou] ok, so I lost my flashdrive (with the only copy of an assignment that's due tomorrow- I know, I'm dumb). I last saw it at the BBOX last saturday during Hair (so, almost midnight) and after that, went to the 6th floor of the gateway. I realized I had lost it the next morning while I was at main.if any one has seen a flashdrive that fits the above description, please call me! (it's name, when plugged into the computer, is EMILY4GB)thanks in advance for any help (Comment on this)

_2:58 pm_[agegaveup] sublet for the summer/option to continue through the fall So here's the deal. My roommate is graduating, so I need a sublet for the summer to fill the last two/three months of my lease, AND I need a new roommate in the fall. This place is pretty sweet; security system, washer and dryer IN the apartment (no quarters or hanging around in the basement), central air, all new appliances, a gigantic tub (with jets, what is this modern age), and short 15 minute walk from campus. It's a third floor apartment on Lennox Street.Rent is 950 a month, plus utilities; there are two bedrooms (which means 475 a month per person), but one of the bedrooms is larger and could potentially house two people (which means 316.67 per person can you believe it). Also if you are looking for a roommate for the '09/'10 school year, I am pretty chill. I'm quiet and I cook things, in addition to the wonderful apartment attributes listed above. So if you're interested in either subletting for the summer, or in a place for next year, you should email me: aspadaro@mica.edu (Comment on this)

_10:52 pm_[seeaaalllyy] prospective student i have a few questions about the admissions process, if any of you happen to know anything, i would really appreciate the help as i'm beginning to freak out about applying to mica. my first question is, when it comes to the portfolio, i know you are to put in your strongest work and all, but when it comes to observational pictures, how many did you use in your portfolio? i have many works to choose from when it comes to the breadth portion, but i'm quite concerned about the observational drawings. i do some, but frankly i never really have the patience or the drive to really put work into them or finish them. i know that sounds quite terrible hahaha. i'm just wondering how many drawings from life i should include for my portfolio to be considered stronger and i'm asking students that have been through this process in recent years, rather than a website or someone who went there atleast 10-15 years ago.my second question is, when it comes to high school grades/s.a.t.'s, how important is it to the admission process at mica? in high school i got average grades (until this year, where my gpa went up atleast 5-7 points, yeah i know, i was a slacker) and my s.a.t.'s were pretty average as well (not terrible, but surely not magnificent). i'm concerned that my gpa/s.a.t.'s will keep me from be admitted to the school (as it is proving to do so with the non-art schools i have applied to) and mica truly is my first choice school!thanks in advance!
