mischievous]I'm doing something upstairs, and I just know Human Two is trying to guess what. All I let him hear is panting and wriggling and the occasional click of claws on the floor. But if I hear him coming up the stairs then I'll just lie on the bed and look at him innocently with my head slightly tilted and my tail wagging. And unless there's actually bits of furniture on the floor, he'll never figure out what I was up to.But eventually I get tired of teasing him so I trot down the stairs, clack-clack-clack-clack, and I pad up alongside him and pant at him. When he turns around, I just stand there and stare at him with hope shining in my eyes. And he smiles at me and says "Ohhhh-awww Mooooshkin," (that's his love-name for me... silly Humans), and reaches over and rubs my sides. That's his delaying tactic; he's trying to avoid obeying orders. So I look at him some more, wag my tail, and say, "Yowww-ooooww." By then he usually concedes the inevitable, and allows me to drive him downstairs to harness me up so I can take him for a walk. This is the wonderful thing about Humans: they're so eager to please, and that makes them easy to train by positive reinforcement. If Human Two still doesn't comply, then I apply negative reinforcement. This one always works: I lie down behind him, muster my resources, and silently deploy a malamute fart. |
