sterlingphoenix: Hawaiian Tsunami Thai Curry
My brother was over a while ago, and he made this. I've co-opted it, though (;
It's called "Hawaiian" because my brother leanred to make it in Hawaii (where he was living at the time), "Thai" because it's Thai-style coconut-milk based, and "Curry" cause there's curry paste in it.
And "Tsunami" because I wanted to work the word "Tsunami" into a recipe.
I used the recipe to test the recipe blog I set up for my mom, and you can see it there. Note that the blog is NOT particularly vegetarian/vegan.

I haven't posted in here in forever. Wow. How is everyone doing??
I'm just wondering if any of you were at the vegan chili cook-off last night at Fast and Furless? I was there and competed and had such a great time. I hope some of you made it out last night and got to try all the amazing creations.

Hi MN Veggies,
Hoping someone has some suggestions...
I'm looking into getting another tattoo and the place that's been highly recommended to me does not offer any type of vegan ink. Anyone know of any tattoo artists in the Twin Cities area that uses/can use vegan ink?
Thanks!

go_veg_mn: "The Ethics of What We Eat: Why Our Food Choices Matter" Presentation with Jim Mason
On Tuesday, Sept. 30 from 7-9 pm, Compassionate Action for Animals is hosting an exciting lecture by Jim Mason, entitled "The Ethics of What We Eat: Why Our Food Choices Matter."
Beginning at the dinner tables of three American families, Mason will take us on an illuminating and humorous journey to uncover the origins of the food we eat, digging up secrets that food producers would rather keep buried. His investigative journalism uncovers the issues associated with buying local, organic, vegan, and fair trade, with attention to the complex dynamics of sustainability.
Jim Mason, Esq., is a writer and attorney who focuses on human and animal concerns. He is the author of several books, including two co-authored with renowned ethicist Peter Singer. His articles have appeared in such publications as The New York Times, New Scientist, and Newsday and he has appeared on CNN, CBS, NBC, and NPR. Mason has been nominated for the National Magazine Award for excellence in reporting and is the founding editor of the Animals Agenda magazine.
This is a free event, open to the public. It will be followed by a free reception catered by Pizza Luce and a chance to interact one-on-one with Mason. All are invited to join us for this eye-opening and inspiring event.
There are no tickets for this event, however, it is recommended that you show up early to ensure good seating.

mcsassypants: Recommendations?
I thought I'd help revive the community...
So, I don't normally eat a lot of fake meat products. I'm usually happy with beans, nuts, tofu, etc...
The exception is when I'm camping. Even after 4 years of being a vegetarian, I miss roasting hotdogs over campfires (And I was never really a fan of hotdogs to begin with. Unless they were over a campfire. Fire makes things better.).
Can someone recommend a veggie dog that I can roast while everyone around me is roasting hotdogs? I've tried Smartdogs and I feel that they're the foulest thing this side of hell, I used to like Quorn brand dogs, but they've stopped making them.
Thank you!
