msoftheday - Profile (original) (raw)

A community of friends who post their thoughts / feelings about struggling with MS on a daily basis.

This is a community of friends who all have MS (Multiple Sclerosis). Here, we get together to post our thoughts / feelings on a daily basis, and to offer support to one another. The idea behind this community came from soulconscious, who wrote the following in a recent conversation thread in ms_support: [what] i really need is a place where i can say, every day[,] how i feel and know that someone is going to read it. [...] so i was vaguely wondering if we could have some sort of page where it's [like a] 'tell us how you feel everyday' sort of thing. and it can be really boring and dull, but it's like we're just looking out for eachother. a kind of 'how are you doing' sort of thing. a bit like there's an lj page where you put up a photo [a day]...

In keeping with this comparison between the "photo-a-day" communities, we encourage all members of msoftheday to post about their experiences with MS in a variety of formats, including text, images (photographs), and even audio (provided you want to create your own MP3 files, upload them, and then link us to a downloadable location, etc.).

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Our "sister" communities include nonidiotswithms and ms_support. Unlike these communities, msoftheday is NOT intended as a place to post giant rants, information about advances in research and medicine related to MS, posts about treatments (conventional or alternative), and the like.

Rather, as you contemplate joining msoftheday, try to think in terms of something like Post Secret. The goal here is for each person to post (daily, weekly, monthly, whatever) either a brief (i.e. - no more than a paragraph) piece of text or an image or audio clip expressing their thoughts and/or feelings about dealing with MS. You can post as frequently or as infrequently as you desire, and other community members are not required to comment or give you feedback on your post (although they may choose to do so if they wish). No matter what, know that we are here, reading. Looking. Listening. Supporting you.

So tell us how you feel today...
