They are both set in our era, they are not medieval or futuristic. both have 2 people who are assasins. They are the best of the best no matter what happens they will finish their mission. If you liked Phantom, you will like Noir, hands down. Both deal with the aspect of a character forgetting their memory and becoming assassins. They both deal with secret organizations that control these assassins. Similar art style, and similar music. And hey, aren't they both by the production company Bee Train? Well that would explain everything! Life of assassins. Trust and betrayal. Both are great series, highly recommended. Produced by the same studio, they both feature assassins and contain a high level of action and a good soundtrack. The characters and the violence are very similar.Like the two characters are the same compared to phantom of a requiem with lost pasts and have to deal with a lot of emotional pain when killing people they don't want to kill. Both series features powerful and independent female protagonist who has the skills to handle a gun. Both series thus, have plenty of action and drama with thriller like sequences in a few episodes. Both series has a mystery like aura as the episode progresses that depicts some of the action and violence beyond just physical. I came here to check if Noir is prequel to Phantom. I have never seen two anime so much like each other. Main similarities are: - The main characters Ein and Noir look alike and they have the same body anatomies. - The main characters Ein and Noir have the same looking blond co-work buddies. - The main characters Ein and Noir are assassins of a secret organization. - The main characters Ein and Noir speak similarly, with short sentences and with the same tone of voice. - The main characters Ein and Noir have similar clothes. - Musics are very similar between two series. - The atmosphere is very similar; dark, heavy and slow paced. - Gun fights are quite similar. read more Both shows are about two assassins working together and discovering their hidden pasts. They also have strong and beautiful OSTs It follows the trend with girls with guns. In addition it holds the theme of two unlikely people holding a strong yet confusing bond while both protagonists hold a secretive past. Both shows focus on a duo of assassins, secret societies and organized crime syndicates. Both were produced by Bee Train and feature musical scores by Yuki Kajiura. It's almost as if Noir was the first draft for Phantom in that there are several similarities between the two (Ein and Kirika are pretty much the same character). If you enjoy conspiracies and mystery thrillers, you will likely enjoy both of these titles. Noir is the more tame title of the two. Phantom has a darker, grittier feel to it and presents itself as fare for a more mature audience. Assassination anime, with really good atmosphere, good fights and if you want to, there is a lot of things to think about, and not very dark. Both are dark themed noir stories focusing on assassination as well as stylish visuals and art included as well too. Anime: Madlax These series are extremely similar, sharing the same formula of girls, guns and mystery, as well as a large portion of the crew involved. Madlax is the better of the two in my opinion - they're both slow to start, but Noir is a bit shorter on action and excitement until late in the show. Girls and guns, Yuki Kajiura, same studio, similar plot line, same slow pacing. Bee Train studio has a serie named "Girls with Guns", consisting of three animes - "Noir", "Madlax" and "El Cazador de la Bruja". No common characters or plot, yet they are similar in fact that all they have girls with guns. :) a very good anime, the story line is somehow the identical to Noir, the Sound Track is great too ! Both animes are produced by Bee Train and both are part of Bee train's Dramatic "Girls with Guns" Trilogy series, both deal with two completly unrealated girls who are both assasins but somehow are connected to each other when they search for the mysteriouse"Truth" when they're passes are revealed and eventually becomes an epic battle for "Truth',Trust",Betrayle,Friends against friends"and Foes and foes. It's from the same anime studio, and the two anime shares many similaritys, like the story, the characters, the themes, but both of them are indeed very different though. yuki kajiura during the action scenes, need i say more?...okay both have the same emphasis on two women on some type of adventure, both have some secret organization that is causing all the trouble for these women, and both have the main storyline where two people are the chosen ones...but they forget that there is also one more noir is more realistic , madlax has more action, but in my (professional) opinion noir is the more entertaining show Similiar personalities from both protagonists. Both females with guns. Both composed music by Yuki Kajiura. both of these anime's where done by the same people. but they are two different story types. also the are a darker type of anime. they are not a happy go lucky, but much more of a serious anime. they also a "girl with guns" type. always a good thing^^ Given that in the trilogy "girl with guns" includes three anime: Noir, Madlax & El Cazador de la Bruja, but I still want to compare it Noir with Madlax, because they are more similar to each other in terms of art / music / characters than El Cazador de la Bruja. In terms of plot, they are similar in that the girls - main characters are trying to measure his adventures to collect pieces of his memory, but their path is not simple because mysterious organization trying every way to prevent them from doing so. For the rest, both of these anime have their inexpressible atmosphere of charm a "girl with a gun in his hand, instead of a handbag" (moreover, the girls in the movie might have been some maniacs-terrorists, and very feminine (^__^), what adds even more pleasure from viewing), that propels superb OSTs, and style / staging animation from BeeTrain. read more First of all, both series are produced by the animation studio, Bee Train. Additionally, the music soundtrack in both series are composed by the talented Yuki Kajiura. Both series features strong and independent women who has a dark past but also skilled in the handling as well as the usage of guns. Both series has a complicated plot that has twists with the main characters behind a dark past. Both series contain mature themes such as assassinations, patricide, and among others that sets a general darker mood for the audience. -Girls with Guns. -Both involve much killing because they are both about Assassins to hire. -Have really nice Soundtracks to enjoy the show even more. Anime: El Cazador de la Bruja Girls with guns theme - One of the trilogy by Bee Train's Moshimo Koichi. These series are extremely similar, sharing the same formula of girls, guns and mystery, as well as a large portion of the crew involved. El Cazador is the better of the two in my opinion - Noir is very slow to start, but El Cazador offsets its slowness with a great sense of humor. Guns and girls, slow story, secret organizations, and they're both made by the same compnay... El Cazador brings in some nostalgia from the older Noir, however manages to keep it fresh with new characters and a story that's a bit more involved. Both have girls and guns, Yuki Kajiura, same studio, similar plot line, and the same slow pacing. However, Noir is more serious than El Cazador tonally, and the episodic format can drag a little because it doesn't have El Cazador's sense of humor. Same makers, and well basically similar atmosphere going on, both with 2 female protagonists, with awesome supporting characters. Despite the dramatic difference in much of the tone of the series, El Cazador being decidedly more upbeat in general, they share similar plot structures, animation, and music. Both were made by the same studio, and belong to a trilogy of series on the Guns With Girls genre. Both have a great story and music, and the main pair of girls won't disappointed Noir's fans. Anime: Gunslinger Girl Both are stories about Top assasins. Girls and guns; both about assassin girls doing their job perfectly. Both feature kick-ass girls who are assassins as the main characters. If you liked one, you are probably going to like the other just as much. Although this anime is quite different it could also be considered quite similar as well. Gunslinger Girl begins with the same premise. Girls with highly refined gun skills working as assassins. I believe both revolve around the pacing of the action sequences and if you enjoyed Noir's actions sequences Gunslinger Girl will definitely be a step up due to the detail taken to animate shooting, recoil, bullet casings, gun powder smoke, etc. If you enjoyed the action sequences in Noir, you likely enjoyed it partly because the pure insanely-cold expressions and ease they dispatched their enemies and in Gunslinger Girls you will definitely find that element still there. Lastly if you simply just enjoy watching girls shoot the crap outta guys against overwhelming odds, Gunslinger Girl is definitely your cup of tea. The main character likes hers with lots of sugar. =P read more Both series feature lush European settings, powerful music, and their stories offer a more dramatic spin on the "girls with guns" cliche, emphasizing the heroines' struggles to unlock dark pasts and understand "who" they really are. Anime: Canaan Both are about women, who are natural born killers. Both of them despite of their future seek for normality. Girl with gun, action, mystery. If you liked Noir police theme, the pj relation, you'll love CANAAN. Start off with girls who are prodigious at killing (especially with guns). Add some mystery that a main female duo is trying to unveil. Don't forget some form of symbolism to unite the female duo, such as cat's cradle or a music box. Throw in some mysterious pasts and strong yuri undertones, and you're either talking about Noir or Canaan. It could be either. If you were interested in Canaan or Noir, you are definitely going to like the other. Although the motive and plot are quite different from each other, they have some similar qualities: 1. girls with guns 2. some shoujo-ai 3. focused on two girls who are sort of "destined" to fight each other 4. both protagonist used to be cold-blooded but gradually opened up to others 5. both protagonist have something to protect Anime: Monster Same dark atmosphere and serious plot. Guns are not just a toys and villains are not just there to fight the main hero and lose. Also the story is set in Europe and you can meet Czech people (Miloš Havel in Noir) The shows gave me a similar feeling while watching, in that, I liked the characters involved who were chasing after the bad guys, and in each, there is a mysterious plot that is bigger than you'd first imagine, which is slowly revealed throughout the course of each anime. Noir's music is amazing as well, so always worth listening to some notes from Yuki Kajiura Set in Europe Has a gentle and mysterious vibe about it Realistic portrayal of characters Revolves around soul-searching journey Anime: Najica Dengeki Sakusen Partner girls with guns, a strong but quiet girl. Noir does´t have fanservice btw. Guns with girls and action in both of these series. Najica Blitz Tactics seems to have a bit more fan-service but nonetheless has tons of action. Both series also seems to have a mysterious like atmosphere to it that makes fans wonder what really happened in the later episodes. Anime: Spy x Family Despite a slight difference in genres with the element of childcare mixed in, Both centre around Spies and Assassins set in a European Setting where secret missions involve facing the underground in order to maintain a status quo between organisations. Unlikely bonds between Spies and Assassins are formed in order achieve a mutual goal of a grand scheme set by the higher authorities. Noir is more serious in nature whereas SpyFam is more lighthearted. Both are espinonage thriller stories though Spy X Family is more lighthearted and so both have a focus around conspiracy theories assasins and much more as time goes by. Anime: Darker than Black: Kuro no Keiyakusha Both are very psychological, have well-choreographed fight scenes and influences from film noir. Homewer, Noir setting doesn't involve sci-fi or fantasy elements. Both involve assassin's trying to figure out a mystery in their past and fighting other assassins. Contractors technically aren't always assassins but act like it a lot. Hei and Noir are both such skilled assassins they are compared to grim reapers. In both the antagonist is a larger organizations, the Syndicate and the Soldats, which seem to manipulate everything behind the scenes. The strength of both are definitely the great fight choreography and soundtracks. Weaknesses in both could be considered the plot and characters. But if that didn't bother you one it hopefully won't in the other. Anime: Mezzo Forte + MC is Anti-heroine type character + High skilled combat + The assassins only work for based from contract and they will fulfill with any cost. + MC also has to deal with the betrayal by their clients Anime: Golgo 13 The assassins only work for based from contract and they will fulfill with any cost. The main story follows "Golgo" & "Noir" being chased by a powerful enemy who controls everything including economic country. Duke Togo & Yumura Kirika are Japanese people only based from passport info. Anime: A Kite - Both Anime tell story about the life of assassin - Both MC have a partner (Mireille & Kirika/ Sawa & Ubori) - Both anime also contain sexual suggestion (NOIR=yuri element / KITE=hentai scene) - Also IMO, NOIR have better ending rather than KITE Anime: Princess Principal Both are to be considered noir anime, starring female characters and giving off almost the same atmosphere. They both include assassins, although in Princess Principal the assassins are also spies. So if you want noir action with spies or the mafia look no further. Anime: Gunslinger Girl: Il Teatrino It contains the same 'Girls with guns' style, is also (For the most part) based in Europe, and is about assassins. The only differences are that these assassins are 100% human, older, and there is a lot more action. Anime: Boogiepop wa Warawanai I’m surprised nobody has made this one recommendation, since both shows are awfully similar in structure, directing and plot. Both are episodic shows which are heavy on dialogue and symbolism, though Noir becomes dialogue heavy during it’s second half and is more action oriented during it’s beginning episodes. Both are dark and grim, and their soundtracks are very similar as well. As for the characters, both casts are psychologically damaged and one of the characters in Noir resembles the boogiepops found in Boogiepop Phantom. Anime: Kiddy Grade Both are early-2000s anime which follow a pair of young women who take on various missions given to them by a mysterious higher-up. In both cases, the two girls have a 'brains and brawn' dynamic (though it's a lot more blatant with Éclair and Lumiere than it is with Mirielle and Kirika) and initially don't get along too well but become closer overtime. Also, in both shows, Monica Rial voices the short girl who doesn't show much emotion. The main difference between them is that "Kiddy Grade" is a (relatively) lighthearted sci-fi series while "Noir" is darker and more down-to-earth. I prefer "Kiddy Grade", as it has slightly better art and is more enjoyable, though "Noir" has better music. Still, both are worth watching if you like strong female characters. read more Anime: Jormungand Like action? Like girls with guns? Like jaw-dropping stunts? Then, you might like both of these series. Tons of action and drama thus far. The music in both of those anime(s) are also spectacular and has potential to top the soundtrack charts for OST. Anime: .hack//Sign + Both have some mystery, that should be revealed at the end. That mystery has certain name - "Noir" in Noir and "Key of Twilight" in .hack//Sign. + Both have beautiful OST from Kajiura Yuki. + The style of art is similar. + The tempo is almost the same. + Both have two realities in the show: everyday life and mystic world of past (in Noir); everyday life and cybernetic world (.hack//Sign). Anime: Shoujo Kakumei Utena Enjoyed girls-with-swords? On to girls-with-guns (and vice versa)! The stories of Utena/Anthy and Mireille/Kirika have quite a number of similar moments. Also, both series are overflowing with aestheticism, and it's hard to decide which one has more splendid music. Anime: 009-1 Both are serious "girls with guns" series with a heavy emphasis on style and mood. The main characters of both series can kill without emotion. Noir has very little blood or sex, while 009-1 has plenty of both. Anime: Pandora Hearts Aside from having had Yuki Kajiura work on their respective soundtracks, both shows have a similar set up. Both shows are centered around group of people connected by a mysterious past and powerful secretive organizations, with characters who struggle not only to find themselves, but with the revelations that are found. Although Pandora Hearts is set in a fantasy world, and Noir is set in a modern venue, both are very good mystery dramas. We'll just have to hope for a second season to continue to flesh out Pandora Hearts story (unless you read the Manga, of course). Anime: Lycoris Recoil One could call Lycoris a throwback or homage to the old guns and girls Anime of the early 2000 and the prime example (that I still have some fond memories of) would be Noir. Both have two main girls that work as assassins for a secret organization, are way too good at their job, and have some rule of cool action with some quality character interaction in between. Noir shines more in the atmosphere it creates and the variety of places it depicts, while Lycoris is focused on Tokyo alone but shows a much higher quality when it comes to animation and art. Noir is more experimental with the direction, sometimes out of limitations of the time and budget, like the iconic shadow 'fights', while Lycoris follows a more standard modern directing style at a high level. The soundtrack of Lycoris is similarly a very good modern soundtrack, but can't really compare to the legendary OST of Noir. I think if you enjoy one you will probably enjoy the other, just be aware, if you aren't, Noir is older, which comes with its obvious limitations. read more Anime: Casshern Sins Both series feel as if they move at a slower pace than other anime, but keep your attention all the while. While there is much action, they keep a more somber mood, rather than the excitement of stereotypical action anime. While you may not see much in common between Noir and Casshern Sins at first glance, I guarantee if you loved one you'll love the other. Anime: Blue Drop: Tenshi-tachi no Gikyoku The main character of Noir is an amnesiac, somewhat similar to Mari-san from Blue Drop. Both the leading heroines have a slight yuri interest in one another. Blue Drop has scifi as a second genre, Noir is a girls-with-guns,adventure type of genre but they both share a mystery/suspenseful subgenre/ending. The central alien race in BD are all female, while Noir has extraordinary female leads, enemies and characters. Anime: Ga-Rei: Zero Both contain two strong female protagonists with a strong bond, are highly skilled for combat fighting (high action), end up fighting against one another, and they're both pretty gory animes. Kagura also closely resembles one of the main female characters in Noir Certain tracks/songs are also similar with the siren-like voices.
