Candy Candy is one of those animes that have a lasting impact. I got to watch it when I was a child living in Dominican Republic, many of us would then talk about Candy Candy and even get together to watch it. The music is memorable and the characters were so engaging. It wasn't magical, it was simple drama with things that one might typically engage in at some schools and life in general. The bullies, moving forward through all kinds of difficulties and set backs, dealing with difficult people, and all the while staying positive. There... were so many great messages in this anime. It was a soap opera for young kids and it was definitely sometimes painful and sometimes fun to watch. Reviewer’s Rating: 10 What did you think of this review? A shoujo that managed to... be loved equally by males and females,Candy with its lovable(and love to hate) characters, thrilling plots and beautiful graphics proved to be a true Classic.Generations have grown watching this classic anime and the fact that after almost 40 years it still receives the same amount of love, for me just says it all. You can still find up to this day, forums dedicated to Candy, fanfiction, artwork inspired from the show etc.A true Leader in its genre, i have nothing for respect for it. But i will watch the movies (didn't know about them till today!)on the other hand am grateful, i saw this, along with Future Boy Conan and many other great series from the 80's :)another anime with a similar story is Ashita no Nadja or just Nadja, i started watching it in Cartoon Network, but only got halfway, so... is pending :/ Reviewer’s Rating: 8 What did you think of this review? NiceNice0 Love itLove it0 FunnyFunny0 ConfusingConfusing0 InformativeInformative0 Well-writtenWell-written0 CreativeCreative0Show all May 22, 2020 I watched Candy back when I was about 8 on DVDs that my parents bought. This was in the 2000. My parents grew up with this series and were big fans of manga, enough to the extent we have manga in the basement. One of those collections were Candy, Candy. Candy is an anime that had a lasting impact. Even now, more than 10 years later, I can still summarize the plot and character names. I can't say the same for many others. This anime made me laugh, cry, burn in fury at the wicked step siblings and stepmother. I watched in earnest to find... out who Candy's benefactor was. It was a long ride but not once did I feel bored. Of course, standards have changed. Soap opera-like anime isn't popular, the art and animation may seem like toture to watch, the story may feel cringey at times but - I remember when I was a little girl, swooning at Candy's love interests and crying my eyes out at certain arcs. I still smile when I remember this. 10/10 Reviewer’s Rating: 10 What did you think of this review? It's more realistic that way, but it's not in service of any goal. The anime is from the 1970's and hence so are the concerns it addresses (whatever those are). Insufferable realism is meaningless here.Oh, and it looks and sounds awful, especially the sound of crying children. It has it's moments and Donald Trump does make an appearance, but it's largely utterly insufferable. (Español Disponible)This is a very hard Slice of Life for the time that was released. There's so much feelings in this anime and very dificult things that make the viewer so upset about all the things that Candy has to pass through. In overall prepare yourself to cry. We need to be like Candy, always happy and fighting for every dream we have in our lives. Has a very good story, sometimes a little boring but that's the part when the art, and the characters bring on. The sound teleports you into a piece of a moment that Candy is living, is... beautiful. I don't wanna give you any spoilers, but it's worth it if you're searching for some old anime. Animation The animation is very good and a masterpiece for a romantic soap opera series like Candy Candy is that the art style is good especially for what animation directors worked on the animation.MusicThe music is very good and very melodrama almost melancholy unlike any other anime like most of them this series has the nice music especially the solemn feeling for how the music transitions of how it goes on each scene in every episode of this series. Characters The characters has their personalities which it has been got to this but then again it may depend on the characters of this series especially their personalities of how it has.Production The production is very good especially for what the writers and director worked very hard for this series is that this is how it has got to the point out is that it has values for a series like Candy Candy but then again two or less then the credibility results. Overall Although this series as been lasted about 115 episodes of the soap opera elements, and it then progresses of how it happens in the series formula although thisnseries has its moments but there is some romance in this series Candy Candy unlike most romance anime this series is basically for those that have been heard or known stories about this classic anime series from the 70s this series has gotten a huge popularity in Mexico and Latin America and also in Europe mostly Italy during the 80s for the Italian audiences when this series has been got a popularity in Italy during the 80s merchandise every where and even this series has been released on bootleg DVDs but it was a classic anime to remember to this day.Score10/10Candy Candy is basically the well known classic anime that is out there is got to the whole thing to this day but then again of all of this is that this is the well beloved anime series which is bringing to the extend to other Anime which is made by Toei animation that came out in the 70s before Anime got popular in the 90s but this series on the other hand give it a watch if it's on fansubs or through bootleg DVDs of this series like Candy Candy.
