Along with her companion Chito, a black cat familiar, they embark on a journey to Aomori, a region favored by witches due to its abundance of nature and affinity with magic. They begin their new life by living with Makoto's second cousins, Kei Kuramoto and his little sister Chinatsu.While Makoto may seem to be attending high school like any other teenager, her whimsical and eccentric involvement with witchcraft sets her apart from others her age. The calm environment of the anime, the detailed and beautiful backgrounds, the smooth story and away from false excitement, all give you a special sense of peace.This anime gives you a special peace and you want to experience a life free from worries and calm like that.The good and logical relationships of the characters, the small humor and the gentle stories, are all beautiful and worth watching.The story is relatively specific and underdeveloped.What I enjoyed most was the beauty of... life in small, rural towns and a warm, friendly family. It’s not that it’s bad, it’s that it’s boring. It doesn’t really go anywhere or do anything, there is little to no plot development and for a comedy, it’s not funny apart from two moments, but in general, this show is not funny, despite being labeled as a comedy. The characters are also very one dimensional and offer no opportunity for development… or to do anything even remotely interesting. The entire series is lacking any conflict or extensive developments, which were far and away the best parts of the show. The sister's arrival and the magical phenomena (the mandrake, burning the hair, the black and white river) were the best parts, but overall the series came and went and literally it was just a bunch of characters in a room talking about obvious and/or dull things with almost every other sentence ending in sugoi! (amazing) or eehhhh! They would call such random things amazing. Oh you... own a liquor store, or can spin around in a circle, or like to eat fried herbs, or can make curry? Amazing!That dynamic definitely enhanced the feeling the show gave off of just shallow, fake characters. Everybody was too happy basically all the time, and people would get excited over weird things. Three middle school boys were literally looking at a cat in a tree and say "Amazing, that cat is so cool." That just feels dumb to me. I only finished the show because I'm a completionist and because I wanted to see if they would actually make some type of plot with the reason she moved there (to train as a witch).
