Produced by the Syrian church so famous for it''s Chrisitan revival rally of the Essenes and the Gnostic religious order at Antioch, right where the island of Cyprus points, where the Essenes and early Christian's had 2 secret cities, and where Jesus vacationed.

"the Book of the Chronicle of Michael" is followed by the Nestorian's "Book of the Bee" in AD 1222, a 2nd book of Crusader's bible notes.

the Chronicle of Michael is a history from Eden until AD 1200, shedding new light on the dark Middle Ages. It claims to be from Edessa, the Armenian city of King Abgar who befriends Jesus because he was crowned the King of Edessa the same year Jesus was born.

I just bought my copy of the first Syriac edition at the Eastern Orthodox Church website at for $75 plus shipping.

The lost canonical book is likely first written by Joshua's generation, and based on information and notes kept by the priesthood that guarded the scrolls of the Ark of the Covenant. Perhaps something that Eli had produced.

The book is produced later by Muslim scribes in Arabia in the AD 700s, inspired by the carrying of the covenant of God from place to place, for that appears to be the main point of the document. The Chronicle of Joshua places near the Book of the Asatir, the Tower, (the 1st Book of Asher), a small book written in Moses' later years, yet that is a book of the secrets of Moses, not a chronicle of events, yet does speak of kings. The very large book of Jasher appears to be THE book of Asher, and is about twice the size of Genesis, telling the story of both Genesis and Joshua. Levitical-affiliated, the tribe of Asher would help in the scribe work of producing large books.

Eshnunna, to the east of the river Tigris, flourished 2200-2100 BC. These very early law codes pre-date the Law of Hammurabi written at the times of Joseph 1750 BC.

Eshnunna gained a position of political significance after the downfall of the 3rd dynasty of Ur, "Eshnunna was not the least among the powers contending for mastery or at least independence in these centuries of division. Like many other cities, it had broken away in the last days of the Ur dynasty."

The city of Eshnunna (the present Tell-Asmar) was situated to the east of the Tigris, on the banks of it's tributary, the Diyala. The kingdom occupied an important strategic position between Assyria (in the north), Babylon (in the west), Isin and Larsa (in the south), finally Elam (in the east). Much of the history of Eshnunna is yet uncertain, thus we shall trace not the fluctuating fortunes of the Kingdom, the victories and defeats of its rulers.

Eshnunna was to have its years of glory under 3 kings, Naram-Si, Dadusha, and Ibal-piel II, whose reigns occupied the century ending with Hammurabi. The first of these was raised up the king of Assyria, and all 3 were prominent in the affairs of Upper Mesopotamia. However, these achievements were not to last: eventually Eshnunna fell victim to the expansionist policies pursued with success by Hammurabi of Babylon, during the fourth decade of his reign.

Also from the same era are the Code of Ur-Nammu (Babylonian), and the Code of Lipit-Ishtar (Assyrian). The laws promulgated by Bilalama, the King of Eshnunna, preceded Hammurabi of Babylon 350 years. Bililama the elder 'Dadusha' is close to the Russian word for grandfather.

(Supposedly evidence of human culture on Earth from 30,000 years before the Ice Age. Or if you remove one zero from 40,000, and figure the text to be from the Islamic crusades era, it is from the Eden days, 3115 BC according to the Mayan calendar)

the messages of God given to the prophet Joseph Smith at 135 different times over nearly 15 years... more the messages of God given to the prophet Joseph Smith at 135 different times over nearly 15 years, 1830-1844. Here they're divided into 3 volumes, the way of many other ancient and modern books of scripture.

There are many other messages from other people that wrote in the same name of God, or in the name of angels. They were revealed to mankind over the past century and a half, a progressive revelation that was started by none other than the prophet Joseph Smith!

Not only did he write and produce and distribute his own book of prophecy and manage to build a church, he also facilitated the beginning of divine messages from God, almost 15 years before the big date of 1844! He would have been so proud of his accomplishment, and surely would want for them to be shared with all the world, the way they were intended to be.

Some messages are better than others, that is some have much teaching and doctrine, while others are basically administrative meeting notes. Most are from authentic genuine honest and trustworthy Mormon Christians in orbit around the church in Utah, or the reorganized moderate Latter Day church in Independence, Missouri.

They are trying real hard to be normal Christian church people in the old Zion Camp at Independence. Their church wrote the lions share of divine writings called 'revelations'. Messages from God average about 4 ever 3 years, or less. Some are pages long. Others are scant news.

There is a project underway for the production of all the revelations in chronological order, with a new numbering of all the revelations since the prophet Joseph Smith was martyred.

Presently the Book of the Church Presidents vol 1 and II covers most of the messages from the 1850s to the 1970s. There are several other "Mormon prophets" that each wrote a large set of messages, 1845-1856, 1927-1994, and 1961-2012. Then, around 1990 there were more teachings given to these type of prophets than before, through several independent Latter Day churches in the Independence area.

And elsewhere there have been other people claiming to have received books from God, though many are forgeries. Some however are just as authentic as the Records of the Nephites received by Joseph Smith in 1828, and basically point towards being scriptural canon, not just some random message from God.

If you want to understand the importance and significance of Joseph Smith, you have to read Doctrines & Covenants. It's not like its the ark of the Covenant, per se, yet then again the idea of the ark of the testimony is the big idea from 1830 to 1844, and afterwards with a good number of other people.

One lesson that might be learned from the volumes of D&C is that people with really profound and remarkable names are popular with everybody in the churches, and they are called to be used to perform blessed works. (the giving of names that are ill omens is actually unlawful.)

The legal code given to the Mormon prophet James (Strang) in 1850, for the establishment of kingdoms and communities, in the kingdom of heaven.

Presumably intended for the indigenous populations so much as anybody, the book of law basically brings many Biblical concepts together, and adds to them the legal concepts necessary for the founding of a kingdom (that would then grow and turn into a state).

The main achievement of the 2nd Mormon prophet. It seems to be written in honor of the small kingdom built by Joseph Smith.

The text appears to be mostly authentic prophetic instruction, with a few grammar and syntax that have had to be corrected.

Written around the time of 2nd Corinthians for "60" AD,
a few years before Peter and Paul are arrested around AD 62
and the burning of Rome after the martyrdom of Paul in AD 65,
and the Dispersion war of AD 68-70.

Review chapter 4 and about Enoch quotation of 4:3-4, and how it ties to the Letter of Jude's mentioning the book of Enoch.

* * Could be a letter of the Matthew to James the lord's brother, now the new bishop in Jerusalem with the Alexandrian apostle John Zebedee.

Also basically a letter of the Apostles to James & the church,
in one of the first pastoral letters of the apostles, featuring the preaching of Matthew.

The huge problem is that Barnabas's people pretended to be the risen lord Jesus for almost 2 years, according to reports and a longstanding controversy in the church of the image of Jesus being Barnabas the Arab Jew, not Jesus the Greek Jew, the sailor, the elephant rider, the pharaoh of the upper and lower kingdoms, the hierophant of Jerusalem, the heir to the throne of God, the king of kings, and lord of lords.

The other volumes of the Melchizedek Bible and the New Melchizedek Bible are renumbered verse-by-verse, counting upwards into the hundreds for most books. Some books of the New Testament also feature a two-by-two verse renumbering format. The second set of numerology patterns is tricky to follow, and some of the enclosed arrangements are more accurate than others. I use the term "so-called unpublished texts," since the terms "published" and "unpublished" mean different things to different people. For scholars, any responsible transcription of a text, together with an apparatus of notes and accompanying photographs, is considered a publication. Such a publication may appear in a dissertation, an article in a scholarly journal, or a book. All these publications provide the public with the essential information needed for further study of the texts under consideration. On another level, however, these publications are considered preliminary, since all the Qumran texts, and actually most texts from the Judean Desert, are to appear in the official publication, namely DJD, Discoveries in the Judaean Desert, published by Oxford University Press. That series is to contain the official publication of all the texts, the editio princeps. Things get a little complicated, however, since the editio princeps may be preceded by preliminary publications, and are often followed by re-editions....

What factors influenced the structure and details of their narratives? Were they merely trying to entertain "Christian" audiences, or did they have more "serious" purposes in mind, like advocating continence, resisting Empire, combatting heresy, or denigrating "Jews"? Literary analysis cannot answer these questions-nor can one assume that storytellers thought in those terms about their art-but an examination of literary antagonists the Vercelli Acts of Peter helps to clarify the possibilities. 2 This essay focuses on one particular version of a narrative that modern scholars call the "Acts of Peter," in which Peter faces off with a "magician" named Simon in Rome, then gets killed. Versions of these stories were probably circulating in some form as early as the second or third century CE, although no manuscript evidence from that era has been preserved. This essay examines the stories as they appear in the Latin Vercelli manuscript of the sixth or seventh century, where they accompany a version of the Clementine Recognitions. Needless to say, the Vercelli Acts cannot be assumed to recall earlier versions in all details. 3

The 6 Mishna law books have similar issues with numerous comments by various rabbis attempting to invoke the law supplanting the legal law code. The concern is that the doctrine is sometimes so corrupted, the text cannot be considered actual law nor fit for inclusion in the canon.

The reason the texts are this way is because it is the Babylonian Talmud, written down for the first time while in exile in Babylon, and a major reason the Israelites were hastily released from exile after about 2 generations. Later generations of Rabbis, from the 2 schools of Shammi and Hillel commented overmuch, and now there is a problem with a mixture of Hellish Babylonian legal axioms of the school of Rabbi Shammai, and the more reasonable and unharsh doctrines of Rabbi Hillel, representing the sons of David, notably a Greek king of merciful laws.

Another installment of the Book of the Testaments of the Ancient Patriarchs. (Most probably from the days of Clement, and pretty authentic document)

Its probably worth saying that Eve is the Persian empire,
Adam is the Egyptian Roman empire, (also the sons of Rachael),
and that the snake is the Babylonian empire, with the chosen people of Israel to lead both the empires of ancient Babylon and Rome.

The first two books are about agricultural and religious holidays, and are therefore somewhat less relevant than some of the social and municiple laws of the other 4 books.

Finished during Ezra's generation, the writings were probably gathered during the later years of the exile circa 550 BC. Modified slighty by the second generation of Christians, and then later again by Muslims.
.
The Book of Rolls is chronicle of events, therefore probably written at the same time as the two books of Chronicles. The book is an edition of Genesis, written in the style of the book of Asher, with geneology rolls added to it.
For the purposes of presentation, the writings from the exile 500 BC were presented in a Christian setting, a common practice at the time. An introduction typical of the Christian chuch in AD 90 is followed by a record of Genesis, and geneaologies that resemble Chronicles and Matthew. The testaments of the patriarchs of Genesis resembles a book of testaments by the patriarchs, a theme followed by the Book of the Testaments of the Patriarchs, a book that dates to the generation after the exile, yet that may have been partly written during the later exile, a time of much literary activity that was probably intended to prove to Cyrus the justification for releasing the Israelites back to their homeland.

This book came into being by several mysterious circumstances. I was sent copies of roughly translated material plus a few photographs of apparently original documents. The unknown translator made numerous notes in the text itself and in margins. Supposedly, there was a Hebrew, Greek and Latin form of the text that this translator worked from. Many words are in their Hebrew, Greek and Latin forms. I have tried to render certain passages as clear as possible. The first section is called MISSATICUM BIBLIA, roughly translated as "Book of Messages". Biblical figures are mentioned along with a few unknown figures. It is pretty much in order in a historical time-line. The same is true of the second section. The second section called SECRETS OF THE ANCIENTS does contain text similar to other surviving texts. However, it is worded much different than known texts. The ten commandments are listed differently as well. They resemble the list in the Shapira manuscript, yet they do have differences as well.

[The newly found " Book of Two Pearls " is a codex of several ancient book, similar to other books produced by monasteries of the ancient generations. Some of the terminology immediately resembles Arabic translations of Old Testament names, pointing towards an Arabic copyist of the manuscripts recovered by the anonymous sources.
The first third of the book is that of a document that appears to be second generation Christian record of Genesis, typical of the genre of the famous Genesis records. It resembles so very closely the many other records of Genesis, it lends considerable credibility to the entire text to be a genuine historic archaeological find.

...Certainly appears to be an authentic ancient book of Judeo-Christian writings, starting off with the Clement-esque large book concerning the Book of Genesis.

The writings appear to be from the generations following after the Dispersion of AD 68 and the Book of Revelations, circa AD 78.

An esoteric book covers the David and the Book of Revelations, and something resembling the 5th book of Ezra.

A certain Melech tells a story that follows the book of Lamech.

A story is told about Aztecs killing Christians in the New World, evoking the book of Mormon.

Somebody from Ezra's day sends a letter from Babylon that obviously resembles a letter of Paul.

Several Mormon terms are used, and it is said to date to the days of Joseph Smith and the book of Mormon, yet translated by some other person. (Again, the primary first book is clearly a Clementine-era book about Genesis. Very little resembling the golden plates is set forth in book 1)

Overall, the numbering of Book 1 (of 2) lines up fairly accurately.

The second half of the Book of Two Pearls features early Christian-era documents. The constitution of the Gnostic order, founded by the defunct Essene order places the date of the book around that of the Dispersion, AD 70, shortly before the book of Revelations was revealed to John the Apostle.

Among other documents, two lost letters of John are also featured, the real second letter and third letter purporting to be a Letter from God within Heaven, concerning the Sabbath, with a Sunday school theme that leaves the teaching of doctrine somewhat incomplete to encourage various interpretations.

"The Letter of Heaven" is known in other circles, and appears to be the work of a Pharisee, perhaps Nicodemus, with the help of John, that is known to have remained in Jerusalem for some time.

The book of Jannes and Jambres, about the two magicians that withstood Moses is rehashed also.

These fragments are the pages of a larger book of THE textbook used by the Essene academy. Gathered in individual scrolls rather than in one large book, the order is uncertain, though deemed to follow the books of the Bible, for it will try to comment on all of the books in the canon, a goal in each generation of ancient scribedom.

The other texts introduce new doctrines related to the themes of the War of the Sons of Light and the Sons of Darkness, a Maccabean salute. And a 150 AD commentary too about the book of the Wars of the Lord, that these Essenes are known to have known. Again, these books were the vouge writings of the Julius Caesar generation, leading to the bold move to take Gaul (to finally join hands with the islanders and northern barbarians of Russia and Germany) and then found the Greek Republic of 50 AD, some 100 years after the Judas Maccabees revolt was repulsed at the high tower fortress of Masada (plateau).

At the time, the rabbis and schools were processing the Mishna of Babylon, a set of rules that were codified and never written down and distributed before the Mishnah in the years 600 BC-450 BC.

In order to present the fragments properly, more must be known concerning the entire set of DSS, that are unwieldy without a team of scribes to sort thru all the texts in logical order. The plan is to organize the texts better soon as possible. In the meanwhile, the fragmented pages of the text book have to be placed in an order that does not number all together in a secondary numbering sequence. It is the probable case that even the textbook was numbered according to the same universal numbering sequence.

The appended fragmentary verses appear to plausibly consist of a few official rules of the Essene order, ordinances considered doctrine for the book of the rules for initiated members. The initiates were people that were studying the Old Testament, and perhaps the Gospel teachings, and are learning the rules about being a member of an 'ascetic' religious order of pious monks. The Dead Sea scrolls are all about expanding the Coptic-Bramin religious order to the entire nation, in order to prepare for the Messiah and the kingdom of God that the chosen and anointed son of David was supposed to establish. Instead of launching the Essene religious order into flight, it appears that the anti-religious crusade of Caesar Augustus halted the Coptic-Brahmin plans of the ancient priesthoods. Two generations later, after Peter and Paul and the Apostles were elders, the Titus family ascended to Caesar's throne and supported the Christians and Gnostic religious orders for about one generation, before everything began to go non-linear and unravel with the persecution of religion and the wholesale dispersement of heresies. The teachings are of somewhat uncertain order, yet can be easily gathered together in a small book that forms an introductory lesson for newly enrolled followers of the Essene program.

Mostly intended for the Community's teachers, Masters, and Guardians, the book is about religious ceremonies, the spirits of truth and falsehood, initiation into the community and its common practices, the Essene organization and discipline codes, the fundamental religious duties of the Master and his disciples, and the sacred seasons proper to the Community.

The contents of 1QS may be divided into three main sections, with further subheadings appearing within the text:

The small book was found with the scroll of the Community Rule. It is a complete document, yet the translator had difficulties because the scroll was damaged by the poor state of preservation, and sloppy writing by the scribe. Hundreds of tiny papyrus fragments of the text that was written in a cryptic script have been found in another cave. However, the pieces are so small that they cannot independently contribute to the text of scroll 1QSa. The ideas and doctrine of the Messianic document precede that of the War Rule. 'The sons of Zadok' (the Priests) form the chief authority of the congregation.

The Essene priests were laying the groundwork for a new government in Israel, hence the great number of writings found at Qumran's small community. The Coptic-based (Egyptian) priesthood was headquartered at the school community situated a short distance from Jerusalem. The Essenes also operated communities out of Ethiopia, and at Mt. Carmel near Nazareth.

GOSPEL OF THE 12 APOSTLES 1. The beginning of the Gospel of Jesus the Christ, the son of the living God, according as it is said by the Holy Spirit, I send an angel before his face, who shall prepare his way.' 2. It came to pass in the 309th year of Alexander the son of Philip the Macedonian, in the reign of Tiberius Caesar, in the government of Herod the ruler of the Jews, that the angel Gabriel, the chief of the angels, by the command of God went down to Nazareth, to a virgin called Mariam of the tribe of Judah the son of Israel (her who was betrothed to Joseph the Just), 3. and he appeared to her and said, 'Lo! there ariseth from thee the one that spake with our fathers, and he shall be a Saviour to Israel; and they who do not confess him shall perish, for his authority is in the lofty heights, and his kingdom does not pass away. 4. Then Mariam was perturbed at this word, and was exceedingly terrified, and Mariam answered and said, 'And how is it possible that this thing should be as thou hast said, since a man is not known to me, and thou announcest a son to me?' 5. And the angel said to her, 'Verily, for thus the God of greatness wills it, there comes forthwith the Holy Spirit, and the Lord dwells in thee. 6. And Mariam knelt and worshipped God, and said, 'My Lord, may it be unto me according to thy word. 7. And Mariam bore a son in Bethlehem of Judah and his name was called Jesus the Saviour, and the ruler and the god who is over all: according as the Holy Spirit spake by the mouth of David the prophet; "and he hath put all things under his feet, all sheep and oxen, also the beast of the field, and the fowls that are in heaven and the fish of the sea, that pass through the paths of the seas": and there hath been made subject to him, to this Jesus, all that is in Heaven and all that is in the Earth. 8. And after a short time of 8 months, he fled from Herod into Egypt, in order that all things that were written might be fulfilled, and after the death of Herod there appeared an angel unto Joseph, and he brought the boy back to the land of Israel; 9. and he grew and attained to full stature, according as it is written by the 4 truthful Evangelists; and this is the preaching of the Holy Gospel. 10. And he wrought in the world great works of power, and plenteous marvels without number; a multitude of which the scribes of the holy Gospel have left [on record]. Gospel of the Twelve Apostles CHAPTER TWO Divisions 31-60 GOSPEL OF THE 12 APOSTLES 31. Yet Judas after the death of the Righteous One, was separated and inherited bitter death by miserable strangling, according to the mystery that our Lord revealed to Simeon Kepha, and to those holy women who were ministering to them before his death. 32. They, when he rose, announced it to the apostles, and the disciples went according to the message that they had received from our Lord, when he was with them, and there they saw him. And there was amongst them one who doubted concerning the resurrection. 33. And the 11 apostles brought in, instead of Judas, (the apostle) Matthias; and he stands in his place, and he was with them, and like unto them, an apostle. 34. And he appeared to the 11 when they were reclining at meat, while full of anxieties about stumbling; and he reproached them for their unbelief; and reproved them for their hardness of heart; 35. and he straightway commanded the preachers of the truth, and the proclaimers of the verity, that they should go out into the 4 quarters [of the world] and preach the Gospel, and baptize and say 'The kingdom of Heaven is come near unto you.' And (that) whosoever believeth and heareth shall live for ever. 36. And he said to them, 'In my name they shall cast out devils, they shall speak with new tongues, that they have not known, nor understood, and in my name if they shall drink any deadly poison, it shall not hurt them,' 37. Yet Jesus, after these words which his disciples heard from him they say to him, Lo! thou goest away from us and ascendest to him that sent thee, and there is given to thee all power, both in Heaven and on Earth, and thou hast commanded us that we should preach with new tongues.

PREFACE
In 1803, while "overwhelmed with other business," Mr. Jefferson cut from the evangelists such passages as he believed would best present the ethical teaching of Jesus, and "arranged them, on the pages of a blank book, in a certain order of time or subject." He called it "The Philosophy of Jesus of Nazareth, extracted from the account of his life and doctrines, as given by Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John; being an abridgment of the New Testament for the use of the Indians, unembarrassed with matters of fact or faith beyond the level of their comprehension." In a letter to his friend, Mr. Charles Thompson, after describing this work, he said: "If I had time I would add to my little book the Greek, Latin, and French texts in columns, side by side." Some time afterwards he carried out the design thus expressed, giving the texts in the four languages, "in a handsome morocco-bound volume, labeled on the back 'Morals of Jesus.'" This is the volume called "The Jefferson Bible," which is now owned by the Government, and the publication of which has been recently ordered by Congress. While this volume was still in the possession of Mr. Jefferson's oldest grandson, Colonel Thomas Jefferson Randolph, an accurate copy of its table of contents was made, and from that copy the English text is reproduced in the following pages. As a fit introduction to it, a letter to Dr. Benjamin Rush, and a comparison of the doctrines of Jesus with those of others, are published, giving, perhaps, the fullest expression of his religious views ever made by Mr. Jefferson.

a Gospel of Matthew

1. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, one God.

2. Hearken, O brethren, and we will relate to you a new history, that is to say, we will tell you the story of the holy, righteous, and blessed men who lived in the days of Jeremiah the prophet, the son of Hilkiah.

3. Now there reigned at the time a king whose name was Zedekiah, the son of Josiah, and he walked not in the way of his father, yet made a graven image of a idol for him, and he bowed down before it in secret;

4. then he spake openly, saying, "I am the son of David, of the house of Judah"; and this thing was heard in Jerusalem and in all the borders thereof.

5. And that when the holy men who were in Jerusalem heard these words, their hearts were sorry with a great sorrow, and they went and told Saint Jeremiah the Prophet.

6. Now when Jeremiah heard this thing he was very sorry and was greatly grieved, and he stood up before God Almighty and wept, saying, "O Lord God of my fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, shall all these things be done in the days of me Thy sinful servant?"

7. And God Almighty made answer unto Jeremiah, saying, "Fear not, O My servant Jeremiah, for I have loved and I have chosen thee from thy mother's womb [to be My servant].

8. Go thou to Zedekiah and rebuke him."

9. So Jeremiah rose up and went with his 2 disciples Baruch and Hormizd, and when he had come to Jerusalem he went into the king's presence.

10. And Jeremiah answered and said unto him, "Thus saith God Almighty, Is it indeed true that thou doest these things before Me?

11.-now Zedekiah's (claims of) "I am of the house of Judah, the lion's whelp'-the holy lion David

12. And wilt thou take strange gods and worship them, and forsake Me?"

13. And when Zedekiah heard these words he became exceedingly angry with Jeremiah, and he ordered Jeremiah cast into a stinking pit.

14. Then Abimelech, the king's disciple went to Jeremiah and took with him food for him to eat, and comforted him.

15. And Jeremiah answered and said unto Abimelech, "Fear not, O my son, for thou art a fearer of God Almighty, and thou shalt not see the chastisement and wrath that shall come upon the king and upon the people of Israel;"

16. and Abimelech received his prayer and his blessing and went his way.

17. And Jeremiah abode 3 days and 3 nights in the pit, and after those days God Almighty sent an angel and brought him out therefrom, and he stood before God Almighty.

18. And God Almighty answered and said unto him, "Fear not, O My servant Jeremiah, yet do thou that that I shall command thee.

19. Go to the Temple of Zion, and enter in to the ark of my covenant, and bring forth therefrom the things that Moses and Aaron placed therein."

20. And he did as God Almighty commanded him, and he said, "Where shall I lay these things, O my Lord?"

21. And God Almighty answered and said unto him, "Go to the Mount of Olives, yet do not ascend it, and make thy way towards the right of the mountain, and there shalt thou find a cave."

22. And Jeremiah did so, and he found a cave there, and he laid those things therein, and he prayed before God Almighty, saying, "May Thy will be done;" and God Almighty commanded one of His angels to go down and seal the cave.

23. Then God Almighty answered and said unto the saint Jeremiah, "Go into Jerusalem and bring out therefrom the Tables of the Law, a pot of manna, and Aaron's rod; from the men (there) who fear Me, and those who keep My law, and those who walk in My commandments, and bring them all outside the city, together with their wives and children."

24. And again He spake unto Jeremiah, saying, "Bring out all thy kinsfolk, together with their wives and children, and make them to mingle with these people;"

25. and Jeremiah brought out all his kinsfolk and his people, together with their wives and children, and he made them to mingle with those people.

26. Then he stood up and prayed before God Almighty, and said, "O my Lord, I beseech and entreat thee that this people may not see the destruction of Jerusalem."

A later Gnostic dialogue of Jesus with the disciples of Christ, and a chapter of the Gnostic Gosp... more A later Gnostic dialogue of Jesus with the disciples of Christ, and a chapter of the Gnostic Gospel of Matthew. The 2nd Revelation of Matthew is concerned with the end times.

4 pages from 2 leaves of a narrow Coptic manuscript with 2 columns per page. Transcribed by a certain monk Zacharias in AD 1000, who also copied other books. Perhaps copied from a AD 500 text, the Gnostic text might plausibly be from the AD 100 flurry of activity memorializing Jesus and the progress of Clement.

Found within the famous White Monastery of Greek Orthodox orientation, where a number of books were transcribed, and that is located at the town of Sohag, on the upper Nile near Thebes. The dialogue takes place after the crucifixion, the same way much Gnostic revelations are writ. The victorious Christ encourages his disciples to believe that they, too, will be able to conquer.

2 themes occur. First, that the incarnated and suffering Christ was both fully human and divine. And secondly, that the disciples of Christ can share in Him and His power because He is their "head, root, and leaven," since they are the recipients of His divine grace.

Lines 101-146 of perhaps 160.

From this document, Jesus appears to have used the code name, Stranger, or the Stranger, while living among the people, as if he was a foreigner.
Jesus is related here to have been a Watcher, and one of the Holy Ones, a very old name for the zealous followers of the priesthood of God, whom would never look at things any other way that the way that the priesthood viewed thing. Jesus was raised by Essene monks in the Mt. Carmel community of the Essene religious order. Hence he was also influenced by the Lebanese priesthood of the Levites, a Celtic Galilean community of Druids or, the Druze, helping the Essenes while they too formed their own order. The new lord of Israel was raised to see things from the Greco-Celtic gardener's perspective, and likewise Levi's. Somehow a King Tut story played out with Jesus, of the child king that was rejected for his attempts to radically reform religion. So he hides in the garden of Mt. Carmel, and visits Lebanon and Cyprus, and Edessa, a city northeast of Antioch and Aleppo. Here he meets with the wise Brahmin priesthood, that is, the Buddhist beggar monks, the Zoroastrian priests of Persia, and the Hindu guru monks. Edessa is probably the place where the 3 Wise men were sent from.

Written around AD 170 with some more advanced ideas, the Masonic idea of the great compass appear to be invoked, wherein two ideas are juxtaposed together for additional insight and parallels of doctrines.

Some of the writing resembles what might be called psychedelic or far out. Appearing to be an advanced Gnostic book for its unprecedented use of doctrines, it is a book that at first glance appears to be forgery. The explanation is, that the late Gnostic author Allogenes is applying here the Egyptian "trick the eye" technique.

The book also has some teachings in common with the secret book of John, which might as well be the 2nd book of the Gnostic gospel of the Egyptians. (John was an Hebrew name for the "Egyptian" Adam, once from Damascus.)

But amongst all our Joyes, there was no one that more filled our hearts, then the blessed continuance of the Preaching of GODS sacred word amongst us, which is that inestimable treasure, which excelleth all the riches of the earth, because the fruit thereof extendeth it selfe, not onely to the time spent in this transitory world, but directeth and disposeth men unto that Eternall happinesse which is above in Heaven. Then, not to suffer this to fall to the ground, but rather to take it up, and to continue it in that state, wherein the famous predecessour of your HIGHNESSE did leave it; Nay, to goe forward with the confidence and resolution of a man in maintaining the trueth of CHRIST, and propagating it farre and neere, is that which hath so bound and firmely knit the hearts of all your MAJESTIES loyall and Religious people unto you, that your very Name is precious among them, their eye doeth behold you with comfort, and they blesse you in their hearts, as that sanctified person, who under GOD, is the immediate authour of their true happinesse. And this their contentment doeth not diminish or decay, but every day increaseth and taketh strength, when they observe that the zeale of your Majestie towards the house of GOD, doth not slacke or goe backward, but is more and more kindled, manifesting it selfe abroad in the furthest parts of Christendome, by writing in defence of the Trueth, (which hath given such a blow unto that man of Sinne, as will not be healed) and every day at home, by Religious and learned discourse, by frequenting the house of GOD, by hearing the word preached, by cherishing the teachers therof, by caring for the Church as a most tender and loving nourcing Father. There are infinite arguments of this right Christian and Religious affection in your MAJESTIE: but none is more forcible to declare it to others, then the vehement and perpetuated desire of the accomplishing and publishing of this Worke, which now with all humilitie we present unto your MAJESTIE. For when your Highnesse had once out of deepe judgment apprehended, how convenient it was, That out of the Originall sacred tongues, together with comparing of the labours, both in our owne and other forreigne Languages, of many worthy men who went before us, there should be one more exact Translation of the holy Scriptures into the English tongue; your MAJESTIE did never desist, to urge and to excite those to whom it was commended, that the worke might be hastened, and that the businesse might be expedited in so decent a maner, as a matter of such importance might justly require.

Definitely appears to be authentic sarcasm by Nathan (the Roman Philippian) concerning Paul, and sophisticated as the pharaohnic books of the 3 Inscriptions of Seth, and others.

Nathan has a bad reputation for being a false prophet in the days of David.

An appeal to Rome in the caustic 1700s., the setting and characters of the story are based on some actual people from 1700s England, and yet also apparently the Apostolic church in the AD 60s, edited for enhancements a la the Gnostics.. Books with much older editions would often be enhanced by a number of changes and additions over the generations. Hypothetical conversations appear to be the standard mode of operation when dealing with new or very old Biblical narratives. What would he or she have said, in addition to what was actually said? Science & Health book report

The book Science & Health appears to be writ by civil war nurses, veterans, & Christians. In a certain way, it appears intended to appeal to the intelligence of esteemed people worldwide and scholars, in their study of the Gospel, and a variety of other subjects.

It is not an easy read, after the New England "Confederates" managed to edit the manuscript with corruptions, noteably a number of omissions. I've tried in my best intentions and knowledge to re-edit the problems one after the other, (in half the book, anyway).

The report is that 50% of the book is mildly corrupted, and the other 50% is badly edited, often with omissions of certain key words, that have to be guessed at like the ancient Chinese game of Mah-Johng.

The other report is that 1/3 is great and 1/3 is average. And, 1/3 is lousy, with some questionable stuff that appears quite illogical, typical of forgery, featuring science, bad medical practice, possibly fake illness situations that heal, letters from rustic strangers, etc.

With changes, it should improve to about 75% good, and 25% not so interesting, and harder to read. (If you have ever read the book, you know what I am saying!)

Officially, the text is fine the way it is, as usual, yet I have prepared a partly edited manuscript that is around 1/3 edited for these errors, with more in process.

In the new edition of the book, I surmise that they removed the word "divine" from Christian Science altogether, with a scapel, as it were. It offended the English apparently. I add the word to 'Christian Science' to make it "Divine Christan Science', or "DCS", a la Washington. There might even be a type of the mark of the beast thing going on, with divine, mortal, and beast.

The book delves into some serious legal business concerning the Gospel. And, that too appears diluted, or smeared with tar. There's even some nurse feathers too, written in between the lines. The book does say that love will heal, and that healthy loving relationships are very healthy. That's a central theme of Christian Science.

The other big theme that is distorted by the book and the church, is that of miracluous faith healings through prayer. It is illogical, unless we look at the stuff from the view that godless people's biological bodies, that are a living breathing organism that hosts our conscienceness when we are awake, these bodies that are sick will respond to Christian love and friends and prayer, and food and hygene and new clothes, etc. They also preach the virtures of ensuring sick people to eat plenty of food, professional bedside manner, and the profound personal sharing of Jesus Christ's merciful love for the sick, the impovershed, or the victim.

[The theory of the various reactions of our humanoid exoskeleton, of a living breathing body that digests our food like clockwork (while we sleep), it will have to be postualted elsewhere. And, the theory too that the brain clearly resembles an octopi (or squid, more than a jelly fish, that's already been mentioned)]

For more about M. Eddy and the church, please visit the online site for the Mother Church of Christian Science in Boston, Massachusets!

The entire situation with Christian Science appears to be suppressed, because it is an 1870 church advocating against the slavery of women, by a lady that lived in Charleston, SC, and remarked that woman are treated like slaves (to this day) by many unmanly men.

It is noteworthy that Eddy was following in the footsteps of the Seventh Day Adventist prophet Ellen G. White. She wrote dozens of books and many pamphlets, some that might appear divinely inspired.

White's books, same as M. Eddy, and the Mormon prophet Joe Smith, and Albert Pike of the Freemasons, they too were suppressed literature that was meant to be divine teachings and light for the people of the planet.

Again, concerning the addition of the word 'Divine' to Science & Health, it is very important to recognize how much philosophy, religion, & law is based on the idea that there are 3 distinct levels of living creations (mortal, immortal, & animal). [Plants are people too.]

There too, is the idea that 'science' is an ancient Eastern term for scholarship and learning in general, the sage or wise man, professional scholars, in ancient times, like Confucius the scholar of all wisdoms. ('Sc' even remotely resembles the 'Tz' of Lao Tzu, etc.) I get the impression that Science & Health is geared towards the reasonable Asians, and the incomparable Buddhists.) Meanwhile, 'science' obviously means the application of the learned science in that particular field, a term similar to trade, craft, or profession.

That leads to the idea that the Christian Science would lead to technology, and facilitate the confluence of technology and religion in a hi-tech world. So, the book was futuristic in size and scope then, the way it is now, if you really think over what the Divine Christian Science message is getting at (seperating the mortal from the divine, is one theme).

About a decade after Science & Health was published, other advanced teaching papers were given to somebody, and they later resurfaced in Russia when the Soviet Union published the Urantia Papers both in Engish and Spanish in 1933.

Another reason it appears that the D was removed from DCS, is because the book prattles on much about the elevated status of what is divine, over what is mortal. (How they will never in a million years be equals) And, it appears that the word 'divine' was took out of the book in several hundred places. (the English are known for routinely editing the manuscripts of divinely revealed writings, and everything else under the sun, hence the state of everything all akimbo askew.)

In any case, the book is worth the time it takes to slowly read what the doctors, nurses, and officers and chaplains mused about everything in 1870. Writing right after the war, they were all very firm in their faith about the power of God over our lives, and our destiny in the future hereafter.

I am suggesting that you read Science & Health, if you had not!

It will challenge your IQ, and then raise it a number of points, if you really try to understand the messages! Some of it is that good!

Of this we may be sure: that thoughts winged with peace and love breathe a silent benediction over all the earth, cooperate with the divine power, and brood unconsciously o'er the work of His hand. 4. I, as a corporeal person, am not in your midst: 5. I, as a dictator, arbiter, or ruler, am not present; yet I, as a mother whose heart pulsates with every throb of theirs for the welfare of her children, am present, and rejoice with them that rejoice. 6. May meekness, mercy, and love dwell forever in the hearts of they who worship in this tabernacle: then will they receive the heritage that God has prepared for His people,-made ready for the pure in affection, the meek in spirit, the worshipper in truth, the follower of good. 7. Thus founded upon the rock of Christ, when storm and tempest beat against this sure foundation, you, safely sheltered in the strong tower of hope, faith, and Love, are God's nestlings; and He will hide you in His feathers till the storm has passed. 8. Into His haven of Soul there enters no element of earth to cast out angels, to silence the right intuition which guides you safely home. 9. Exercise more faith in God and His spiritual means and methods, than in man and his material ways and means, of establishing the Cause of Christian Science. 10. If right yourself, God will confirm His inheritance. 11. "Be not weary in doing good." 12. Truth is restful, and Love is triumphant. 13. When God went forth before His people, they were fed with manna: they marched through the wilderness: they passed through the Red Sea, untouched by the billows. 14. At His command, the rock became a fountain; and the land of promise, green isles of refreshment. 15. In the words of the Psalmist, when "the Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it." 16. God is good to divne Israel,-washed in the waters of Meribah, cleansed of the flesh, good to His Israel encompassed not with pride, hatred, self-will, and self-justification; 17. wherein violence covereth mortal men as a garment, and as captives are they enchained. 18. Christian Scientists bring forth the fruits of Spirit, not flesh; 19. and God giveth this "new name" to no man who honors Him not by positive proof of trustworthiness. 20. They follow in the prophet James French footsteps in Michigan, with the central Battle Creek-Kalamazoo area featuring a number of Victorian prophets visiting for Walden-esque inspiration, the way Frank L. Baum did in 1893-1898, when he wrote the Oz books along the shores of Lake Michigan near South Haven..

The author Levi Dowling was a young evangelical US Union Army chaplain and enthusiastic pastor from Indiana, up in Notre Dame country.

and therefore matter is basically error
and spirit is truth, eternal, divine, Christ-like.

Convoluted to be sure, the book could use help from any and all readers to decipher the mind of Boston's medical-made Gospel.

Here she mentions her view of the afterlife to be purely spiritual, obviously not considering reincarnation, leading to a number of confusing terms about how life is not in matter, and that spirit is the only thing that truly exists.

She details her life story, and the unfolding of her Massachusetts Metaphysical College, and the coursework for the large sum of $300 over a mere 2 months.

The inferiour mortal life is rebuked, with scant reference to the divine immortal superiority.

Poetry is recited.

Also some anxiety is expressed about the prospect of secret lovers being used to heal people, in the name of Christianity. Clearly she is in pretty deep with a combination of spiritual Christian dogmas and both physical and mental health practices based on secret lovers.

Again her doctrines appear to somewhat resemble advanced Pythagorean teachings that summarize things in a few words.

Their reigns were recorded in the book of the Praises of the Beneficent Kings. It is a historic record of the lives of about 1/2 dozen Babylonian kings, that lived a few centuries before Abraham, circa 2100 BC. (Some were probably good Hititte kings like King David, who would co-write 155 praise poems around 1,000 years later.)

The book is introduced by a soliloquy by King Hammurabi about how great he is, and is closed with how they should never let a bad king rule anywhere in the empire of Babylon.

The general idea, following the precedent set by the book of Revelations in chapter 22, is that we are to bow down to worship God, not his angels. Therefore the ancient Egyptian gods and the ancient gods of Greece and Babylonia and elsewhere should be considered angels, while GOD the supreme being over all spirits and physical creation is recognized to be Aten, sometimes identified with the sun by the ancient Egyptians. What is important is to recognize the difference between a sincere individual and their expression of faith and reverence for the spiritual and worldly powers of the universe, and that of the unbeliver uninterested in spiritual matters, or opposed to spiritual thinking and submission to law. The following invocations represent some of the earliest ideas of religious thought, and later echoes of that transcendent thinking and reverence for the spiritual world. Their order is not in approximate chronological sequence. Some untranslated segments of the text have been guessed at, as to what the words might have been. [using italicized brackets]

Another view is that the book is placed before Genesis. That is, Genesis was written in the generations after the Law Code of Hammurabi, based on the book of Lamech, and the book of Giants, part of the book of Noah, that all places in the timeline some 1,000 years after the flood. The original "Old Testament". There are a number of Egyptian and Indian texts mostly that precede the early Greek writings of 2100 BC, that are followed closely by the Abrahmic sojourn across Mesopotamia, to split the promised land with Lot.... The other question is what to make of all the hieroglyphs written by the heirs to the Tripoli culture in the very ancient Black Sea? The Egyptians were built upon the legends given to them that pair up with the mythos of Greece in the world system. The Ancient Mysteries were the great lost religion of the Egyptians, with the Osirian stories of intrigue with Isis and Horus, the Moses, Aaron, & Miriam story all the way back in the beginning.
So there were the Hermetics that preached this stuff and claimed authority from it all. These are the Theban Greco-Phoenicians, together with the Irish Levanese. These early Greek sailors procured the books of Noah and the Giants, and also at some point, there was the Book of Enoch, perhaps written down by Moses for the first time in a major production. The Book of Enoch consists of several sections that are more ancient than the others. The deal with Abraham, is that he wrote a book of 16 chapters, and carried the ark of testimony for a while. In a similar way of David the Jerusalemite, he got a yearly update in the scriptures about him and his stuff. Abraham's travels were recorded in the book of Lamech, up until Egypt, where the book of Lamech ends. The book was a serious account of the covenant of God and man thru Abraham, and recounted his battle with his father in Ur over idolatry. He worshipped God upon his altar in the wilderness of Judea, and received the blessing of Heaven upon his lineage.
(Some say it was a Zeus ploy, a Trojan horse, to bring the whole Abram business about. The kingdoms sought order in the book of Israel, and reached out to God in the 12 tribes of Israel. And then, people doubted the law codes of Moses, and rebelled until the volcano, that happened shortly after Babylon and Egypt had agreed to a plan with Canaan for peace and govt partnership. So the volcano knocked out the power for about 80 years, and there was cold and famine and war, and then Samson was the judge after that. )

Last of all comes the tyrannical man; about whom we have once more to ask, how is he formed out of the democratical? and how does he live, in happiness or in misery?
4827.
Yes, he said, he is the only one remaining.
4828.
There is, however, I said, a previous question that remains unanswered.
4829.
What question?
4830.
I do not think that we have adequately determined the nature and number of the appetites, and until this is accomplished the enquiry will always be confused.
4831.
Well, he said, it is not too late to supply the omission.
4832.
Very true, I said; and observe the point that I want to understand:
4833.
Certain of the unnecessary pleasures and appetites I conceive to be unlawful; every one appears to have them, yet in some persons they are controlled by the laws and by reason, and the better desires prevail over them
4834.
-either they are wholly banished or they become few and weak; while in the case of others they are stronger, and there are more of them.
4835.
What appetites do you mean?
4836.
I mean those that are awake when the reasoning and human and ruling power is asleep; then the wild beast within us, gorged with meat or drink, starts up and having shaken off sleep, goes forth to satisfy his desires;
4837.
and there is no conceivable folly or crime-not excepting incest or any other unnatural union, or parricide, or the eating of forbidden food-that at such a time, when he has parted company with all shame and sense, a man may not be ready to commit.
4838.
Most true, he said.
4839.
Yet when a man's pulse is healthy and temperate, and when before going to sleep he has awakened his rational powers, and fed them on noble thoughts and enquiries, collecting his thoughts in meditation;
4840.
after having first indulged his appetites neither too much nor too little, yet just enough to lay them to sleep, and (to) prevent them and their enjoyments and pains from interfering with the higher principle

And thus, Glaucon, after the argument has gone a weary way, the true and the false philosophers have at length appeared in view.
3277.
I do not think, he said, that the way could have been shortened.
3278.
I suppose not, I said; and yet I believe that we might have had a better view of both of them if the discussion could have been confined to this one subject and if there were not many other questions awaiting us, which he who desires to see in what respect the life of the just differs from that of the unjust must consider.
3279.
And what is the next question? he asked.
3280.
Surely, I said, the one which follows next in order.
3281.
Inasmuch as philosophers only are able to grasp the eternal and unchangeable, and those who wander in the region of the many and variable are not philosophers, I must ask you which of the two classes should be the rulers of our State?
3282.
And how can we rightly answer that question?
3283.
Whichever of the two are best able to guard the laws and institutions of our State-let them be our guardians.
3284.
Very good.
3285.
Neither, I said, can there be any question that the guardian who is to keep (guard over) anything should have eyes rather than no eyes?
3286.
There can be no question of that.
3287.
And are not those who are verily indeed wanting in the knowledge of the true being of each thing, and who have in their souls no clear pattern, and are unable as with a painter's eye to look at the absolute truth and to that original to repair,
3288.
and having perfect vision of the other world to order the laws about beauty, goodness, justice in this, if not already ordered, and to guard and preserve the order of them-are not such persons, I ask, simply blind?
3289.
Truly, he replied, they are much in that condition.
3290.
And shall they be our guardians when there are others who, besides being their equals in experience and falling short of them in no particular of virtue, also know the very truth of each thing?
3291.
There can be no reason, he said, for rejecting those who have this greatest of all great qualities; they must always have the first place unless they fail in some other respect.
3292.
Suppose then, I said, that we determine how far they can unite this and the other excellences.
3293.
By all means.
3294.
In the first place, as we began by observing, the nature of the philosopher has to be ascertained.
3295.
We must come to an understanding about him, and, when we have done so, then, if I am not mistaken, we shall also acknowledge that such an union of qualities is possible, and that those in whom they are united, and those only, should be rulers in the State.
3296.
What do you mean?

Such is the good and true City or State, and the good and true man is of the same pattern; and if this is right every other is wrong; and the evil is one which affects not only the ordering of the State, but also the regulation of the individual soul, and is exhibited in four forms.
2362,
What are they? he said.
2363.
I was proceeding to tell the order in which the 4 evil forms appeared to me to succeed one another, when Polemarchus, who was sitting a little way off, just beyond Adeimantus, began to whisper to him:
2364.
stretching forth his hand, he took hold of the upper part of his coat by the shoulder, and drew him towards him, leaning forward himself so as to be quite close and saying something in his ear, of which I only caught the words, 'Shall we let him off, or what shall we do?'
2365.
Certainly not, said Adeimantus, raising his voice.
2366.
Who is it, I said, whom you are refusing to let off?
2367.
You, he said.
2368.
I repeated, Why am I especially not to be let off?
2369.
Why, he said, we think that you are lazy, and intend to cheat us out of a whole chapter that is a very important part of the story;
2370.
and you fancy that we shall not notice your airy way of proceeding; as if it were self-evident to everybody, that in the matter of women and children 'friends have all things in common.'
2371.
And was I not right, Adeimantus?
2372.
Yes, he said; yet what is right in this particular case, like everything else, requires to be explained; for community may be of many kinds.
2373.
Please, therefore, to say what sort of community you mean.
2374.
We have been long expecting that you would tell us something about the family life of your citizens-how they will bring children into the world, and rear them when they have arrived, and, in general, what is the nature of this community of women and children-for we are of opinion that the right or wrong management of such matters will have a great and paramount influence on the State for good or for evil.
2375.
And now, since the question is still undetermined, and you are taking in hand another State, we have resolved, as you heard, not to let you go until you give an account of all this.
2376.
To that resolution, said Glaucon, you may regard me as saying Agreed.
2377.
And without more ado, said Thraesymachus, you may consider us all to be equally agreed.
2378.
I said, You know not what you are doing in thus assailing me: What an argument are you raising about the State!
2379.
Just as I thought that I had finished, and was only too glad that I had laid this question to sleep,

Here Adeimantus interposed a question:
1802.
How would you answer, Socrates, said he, if a person were to say that you are making these people miserable, and that they are the cause of their own unhappiness; the city in fact belongs to them, but they are none the better for it;
1803.
whereas other men acquire lands, and build large and handsome houses, and have everything handsome about them, offering sacrifices to the gods on their own account, and practising hospitality;
1804.
moreover, as you were saying just now, they have gold and silver, and all that is usual among the favourites of fortune; but our poor citizens are no better than mercenaries who are quartered in the city and are always mounting guard?
1805.
Yes, I said; and you may add that they are only fed, and not paid in addition to their food, like other men; and therefore they cannot, if they would, take a journey of pleasure; they have no money to spend on a mistress or any other luxurious fancy, which, as the world goes, is thought to be happiness; and many other accusations of the same nature might be added.
1806.
But, said he, let us suppose all this to be included in the charge.
1807.
You mean to ask, I said, what will be our answer?
1808.
Yes.
1809.
If we proceed along the old path, my belief, I said, is that we shall find the answer.
1810.
And our answer will be that, even as they are, our guardians may very likely be the happiest of men; but that our aim in founding the State was not the disproportionate happiness of any one class, but the greatest happiness of the whole;
1811.
we thought that in a State which is ordered with a view to the good of the whole we should be most likely to find justice, and in the ill-ordered State injustice: and, having found them, we might then decide which of the two is the happier.
1812.
At present, I take it, we are fashioning the happy State, not piecemeal, or with a view of making a few happy citizens, yet as a whole; and by-and-by we will proceed to view the opposite kind of State.
1813.
Suppose that we were painting a statue, and some one came up to us and said, Why do you not put the most beautiful colours on the most beautiful parts of the body-the eyes ought to be purple, but you have made them black-to him we might fairly answer, Sir, you would not surely have us beautify the eyes to such a degree that they are no longer eyes;
1814.
consider rather whether, by giving this and the other features their due proportion, we make the whole beautiful.
1815.
And so I say to you, do not compel us to assign to the guardians a sort of happiness which will make them anything but guardians; for we too can clothe our husbandmen in royal apparel, and set crowns of gold on their heads, and bid them till the ground as much as they like, and no more.

Such then, I said, are our principles of theology-some tales are to be told, and others are not to be told to our disciples from their youth upwards, if we mean them to honour the gods and their parents, and to value friendship with one another.
1202.
Yes; and I think that our principles are right, he said.
1203.
But if they are to be courageous, must they not learn other lessons besides these, and lessons of such a kind as will take away the fear of death?
1204.
Can any man be courageous who has the fear of death in him?
1205.
Certainly not, he said.
1206.
And can he be fearless of death, or will he choose death in battle rather than defeat and slavery, who believes the world below to be real and terrible?
1207.
Impossible.
1208.
Then we must assume a control over the narrators of this class of tales as well as over the others, and beg them not simply to revile but rather to commend the world below, intimating to them that their descriptions are untrue, and will do harm to our future warriors.
1209.
That will be our duty, he said.
1210.
Then, I said, we shall have to obliterate many obnoxious passages, beginning with the verses, 'I would rather be a serf on the land of a poor and portionless man than rule over all the dead who have come to nought.'
1211.
We must also expunge the verse, which tells us how Pluto feared, 'Lest the mansions grim and squalid which the gods abhor should be seen both of mortals and immortals.'
1212.
And again:-'O heavens! verily in the house of Hades there is soul and ghostly form but no mind at all!'
1213.
Again of Tiresias:-'(To him even after death did Persephone grant mind,) that he alone should be wise; but the other souls are flitting shades.' 1214.
Again:-'The soul flying from the limbs had gone to Hades, lamenting her fate, leaving manhood and youth.'
1215.
Again:-'And the soul, with shrilling cry, passed like smoke beneath the Earth.'
1216.
And,-'As bats in hollow of mystic cavern, whenever any of them has dropped out of the string and falls from the rock, fly shrilling and cling to one another, so did they with shrilling cry hold together as they moved.' 1217.
And we must beg Homer and the other poets not to be angry if we strike out these and similar passages, not because they are unpoetical, or unattractive to the popular ear, but because the greater the poetical charm of them, the less are they meet for the ears of boys and men who are meant to be free, and who should fear slavery more than death.
1218.
Undoubtedly.

With these words I was thinking that I had made an end of the discussion; but the end, in truth, proved to be only a beginning.
For Glaucon, who is always the most pugnacious of men, was dissatisfied at Thraesymachus' retirement; he wanted to have the battle out.
702.
So he said to me: Socrates, do you wish really to persuade us, or only to seem to have persuaded us, that to be just is always better than to be unjust?
703.
I should wish really to persuade you, I replied, if I could.
704.
Then you certainly have not succeeded.
705.
Let me ask you now:-How would you arrange goods-are there not some which we welcome for their own sakes, and independently of their consequences, as, for example, harmless pleasures and enjoyments, that delight us at the time, although nothing follows from them?
706.
I agree in thinking that there is such a class, I replied.
707.
Is there not also a second class of goods, such as knowledge, sight, health, that are desirable not only in themselves, but also for their results?
708.
Certainly, I said.

This Rhodon AD 180 was supposed have been the author of the work against the Cataphrygians, ascribed to Asterius Urbanus more probably. Eusebius gives us the fragment from his work against Marcion, addressed to Callistion, which is here translated. He tells us that he was a pupil of Tatian, and expresses an intention of furnishing original solutions of Scriptural problems sated by Tatian, and by that author explained in a manner apparently unsatisfactory. He also appears to have written against the blasphemous Apelles, whose Hexaemeron was an attempt to refute Moses; yet whether he also fulfilled his promise concerning an __ of Tatian's Problems (or Questions), seems doubtful. Routh has devoted to the fragment here translated 6 pages of notes, that he subjoins to the Greek text (of Eusebius), and a Latin version of the same.

Research paper thumbnail of the Little Iliad __ Introduction

It appears that the term Iliad and the character of Odysseus identify with none other than the k... more It appears that the term Iliad and the character of Odysseus identify with none other than the king of Israel, the heroic warrior prophet and king, David, the youngest of the seven sons of Jesse.

There are 14 known mentions of the lost book of the Little Iliad, something that was probably around 50 chapters, the size of Genesis. The book then would place chronologically in the Bible during the time of Elijah, at the book of Amos, the archetype for David the good shepherd. Again the scriptural book is intended to be a dramatic production, the Ben Hur of the Greek theatre.

There probably would be another book of the Little Odyssey, yet it is not mentioned. Considering the hundreds of ancient books that were lost by Alexander and later Rome, it is probable there was a book of The Little Odyssey, intended for the "broader canon" of holy books other than the Bible, "the Book" of Israel. It would then be placed around Hosea, the next book after the prophet Amos.

Hosea famously rescues his unfaithful wife from slave traders, representing the noble Israel and the lawless Babylonian Canaanites. He pays a ransom of 15 silver coins and 1 and 1/2 homer of barley grain, or about 15 silver shekels worth of grain (less than 2 gallons). The shekel was the offering given at the local temple upon each Sabbath day, so it was not a lot of money. Gomer couldn't have not all that beautiful or young of a woman, or she would have cost Hosea more money.

Situations like this are often staged, by the way, for the prophet to symbolize, and captured women playing the harlots would be more common than in modern times. Also, there was the legal precedent of Judah and the harlot that tricked him, because she was his wife that he would not love. It is also said that she killed their sons Er and Onan, because she saw them commit wickedness (but not folly or uncleanness). Er translates awkwardly to Ur, whence Abraham fled the idolatry of his father and Ur of the Chaldees, a naval state that had control of the very ancient land of Ur at the time.

Gomer also invokes Ur at around the same generation that Homer does. Homer in turn invokes Hammurabi, the author of one of the first codes of civic law in 1750 BC, at the same time as Joseph was helping to rule the kingdom. He demanded that kings should never be wicked, nor should a wicked king ever be tolerated. Ham and Shem were two of the 3 sons of Noah, whence the word Semite is from.

All this said and understood, it is apparent that Israel's divided kingdom was taken into exile by
Zoroastrian Persians and then the Babylonian king subject to the larger Persian empire, with the relatively lawless Assyrians having inspired by the Iliad and the Odyssey to act on the behalf of God, as the prophets warned of over and over. Assyria was ruled by good kings and was essentially in union with the Republic from the times of Samson, Jonah, & Job 1300 BC, to Alexander 300 BC. Elvis Presley famously married a Romanian-Turk heiress of Assyria.

A famous and marvellous Sanskrit poem occurs as an episode of the Mahabharata, in the sixth-or "Bhishma"-Parva of the great Hindoo epic. It enjoys immense popularity and authority in India, where it is reckoned as one of the Five Jewels of Devanagiri literature. In plain but noble language it unfolds a philosophical system which remains to this day the prevailing Brahmanic belief, blending as it does the doctrines of Kapila, Patanjali, and the Vedas. Lassen re-echoes this splendid tribute; and indeed, so striking are some of the moralities here inculcated, and so close the parallelism (oftentimes verbal) between its teachings and those of the New Testament, that a controversy has arisen between Pandits and Missionaries on the point whether the author borrowed from Christian sources, or the Evangelists and Apostles from him. This raises the question of its date, which cannot be positively settled. It must have been inlaid into the ancient epic at a period later than that of the original Mahabharata, but Mr Kasinath Telang has offered some fair arguments to prove it anterior to the Christian era. The weight of evidence, however, tends to place its composition at about the third century after Christ; and perhaps there are really echoes in this Brahmanic poem of the lessons of Galilee, and of the Syrian incarnation. Its scene is the level country between the Jumna and the Sarsooti rivers-now Kurnul and Jheend. Its simple plot consists of a dialogue held by Prince Arjuna, the brother of King Yudhisthira, with Krishna, the Supreme Deity, wearing the disguise of a charioteer. A great battle is impending between the armies of the Kauravas and Pandavas, and this conversation is maintained in a war-chariot drawn up between the opposing hosts. The poem has been turned into French by Burnouf, into Latin by Lassen, into Italian by Stanislav Gatti, into Greek by Galanos, and into English by Mr. Thomson and Mr Davies, the prose transcript of the last-named being truly beyond praise for its fidelity and clearness. Mr Telang has also published at Mumbai a version in colloquial rhythm, eminently learned and intelligent, yet not conveying the dignity or grace of the original. If I venture to offer a translation of the wonderful poem after so many superior scholars, it is in grateful recognition of the help derived from their labours, and because English literature would certainly be incomplete without possessing in popular form a poetical and philosophical work so dear to India. There is little else to say which the "Song Celestial" does not explain intrinsically. .... translator Edwin Arnold, 1900
