Because they are naturally produced by biological microorganisms, they are referred to as biosurfactants. Biosurfactants act like slippery detergents, helping the oil move more freely away from rocks and crevices so that it may travel more easily out the hydrocarbon polluted soil. Microbial Produced biosurfactants that emulsify the oil-soil interface during bioremediation.

The biogas production rate is 0.3 litres/litre of digester volume, through sun drying (6 h), and its subsequent digestion increased biogas yield by 14% with a higher biogas methane (75%) content. Total biogas yield from green water hyacinth in 50 litres per kg of feedstock. The percentage of methane in biogas is 75-80%. Biogas mainly contains sixty per cent of methane.

Nigeria is the world largest producer with a global average yield of 11.80 t/ha, cassava yields can reach 80 t/ha, compared to the current world average yield of just 12.8 t/ha. Biofertilizer solves the traceability problem of chemical farm inputs, suitability and nutrient use efficiency as an integral function of the rhizosphere microbiome via plant microbe interactions for improved soil health quality and crop degradation management. Cassava cultivation with biofertilizer will reduce hydrogen cyanide (HCN) levels in the crop as an integral bioavailability of soil organic matter and nutrient use efficiency. Plant growthpromoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) in the biofertilizer will ameliorate plant abiotic stress and bio-control diseases management. Easily accessed agrobacterium inoculant in biofertilizer has potential for transgenic cassava cultivar development for improved yield and nutrient biofortification. This book chapter encapsulate the case studies trilogy research article papers on biofertilizer impacts on soil microbiome during cassava cultivation for crop yield, soil health, regenerative agriculture, value chain development, food and nutrition security.

Treatments application includes: agro-waste recycled to biofertilizer in anaerobic biodigester with two biofertilizer formulations (GF1 and GF2), sunshine fertilizer (SF) and chemical fertilizer (NPK 20:10:10). Soybean vegetative growth parameters, nodulation, amount of nitrogen fixed, yield and yield components were determined at 8 weeks after planting (WAP). GF2 had significantly (P < 0.05) higher number of leaves. GF1 had significantly (P < 0.05) higher number of pods and seed weight/plant with lower biological nitrogen fixation, compared to other treatments. Soybean cultivars breeders should integrate biofertilizer into seed development programme, that bypass the naturalized soil rhizobia and nodulate only with highly effective inoculant strains under environmental stress, improved soil resilience for climate mitigation with rhizosphere-microbial interactions to manage soybean cyst nematode (SCN). Smart agriculture framework developed impacts on trans-disciplinary approach, soya bean cultivation nitrogen use efficiency (NUE), remote access to agriculture data in real-time, crop development, supply chain management, profitability and biofertilizer varietal characteristics.

The effective policies to increase the level of prosperity and how to translate information about specific strengths and weaknesses across the many factors that drive competitiveness was the crux of the study. The competitiveness analytic identify uncertainties (more raking competitiveness metrics); seek alternative framing of problems; build hybrids (objects such as indicators or policy formulation); and human capacity to link knowledge to action for national productivity and country's share of world markets for its products and services, provide its residents with a rising standard of living and a high employment on a sustainable basis was the resultant impacts of competitiveness. Value results from a total effort, rather than from 'one isolated step' in the process for all indexes of competitiveness. Singapore had better competitiveness index than Nigeria with global ranking as the most competitive nation in the world, 2020.The crux of 21 st century competitiveness ranking should focus on the unification of competitiveness indicators and the development of 'integral competitiveness fundamentals that, can capture the traditional and emerging indicators like 'Climate changes',' Pollution',' Cyber security' and 'Hybrid warfare' was accentuated as spatial polysingularity framework for the future study of competitiveness.

'The United States military doctrine of 'The Joint Force 2020 concept' with integrated capabilities and the use of robotic and artificial intelligence apparatus for decision making is taking on a mass character. Russia military doctrine employs, 'multi-domain operations' in the diplomatic, information, cyber, economic, and military domains for regional hegemony. Both military powers seek 'defence foresight' to manage their national interests outside of their borders of its territory using 'high-precision weaponry and proxies'. Its execution requires the optimization of global strategic posture into the 'instruments of power' termed 'warfare ecosystem' schema-iterated exploration of alternatives paths for results that, 'optimize risk and uncertainty', with the principles of minimum regrets, flexibility, versatility and adaptability encapsulate the 'warfare strategy' as a wicked problem. The construct of space infrastructure capabilities today remains the final frontier for defence policy formulation that, ruthlessly attack inefficiencies of defence posture of modern military strategic thinking to migrate into 'warfare ecosystem' foresight.

Fungal species heavy metal reduction in increasing order of Aspergillus niger > Trametes versicolor > Rhizopus spp > Phanorochate chrysoporium > Penicillium spp were identified. The total explosive contents shows a significant difference for all locations in both dry and wet seasons (P<0.05) using Anova test. Microbial fungi consortium (MFC) bioremediate heavy metal significantly at 61.7% relative to isolated fungi species because of the lateral gene transfer/co-metabolism, where Trametes versicolor and Aspergillus niger act as gene mediators. MFC growth in 1% mineral salt medium munitions was significance than fungal species isolate. Deploying Myco Bio-augmentation / Phytoremediation/Biosimulation (Myco B-P-B) techniques to optimize the RDX and HMX characterized by a higher Nitrogen/Carbon ratio since fungi lack the beta-glucuronidase (GUS) gene to utilize carbon source directly. Pollutants biostimulation will enhances co-metabolism by MFC. Plant detoxification capabilities can be improved using fungi genes laccases and cytochrome P450 monooxygenase expressed effectively in plants using protoplast fusion.

Filed trials were conducted in the last seasons of 2011 and 2012 in the lowlands field of Gateway Organic Fertilizer Plant (Latitude 7 Degree 10’ N and Latitude 3 Degree 15' E). A randomized complete block design in a split-plot arrangement with three replicates was used. Sources of Organic fertilizer were [Gateway 1 Fertilizer (GF1), Gateway 2 Fertilizer (GF2), and Sunshine Fertilizer (SF)] assigned to the main plots and in the subplots application rate (0, 10, and 20 tons/ha). In 2011, Oba Super-2 sown with GF1 was significantly taller than other organic fertilizer sources at (68.1 cm) and 12 weeks after planting (223.0 cm) with improved grain yield (3.9 tons/ha). In the year 2012 improved assimilatory surface (leaf area and leaf area index) was observed in hybrid maize with GF2 and SF. The highest significant grain yield (2.48 tons/ha) was observed in hybrid maize sown with SF. Yield attributes of hybrid maize increased with application rates of organic fertilizer in 2011, with improved performance (3.96 tons/ha). Improved grain yield (2.67 tons/ha) of Oba Super-2 with increasing application rate in the following year could only be attributed to 1000 grains weight. In this agroecology, GF1 and SF could be used to establish Oba Super-2 with an application rate of 20 tons/ha provided water is non-limiting.

A field experiment was conducted at the research field of Gateway Organic Fertilizer Plant, Elewe... more A field experiment was conducted at the research field of Gateway Organic Fertilizer Plant, Eleweran, Abeokuta, in the late cropping season of 2010, to evaluate commercially produced organic fertilizer effects on nodulation, nitrogen fixation, and performance of soybean. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replicates. Three sources of organic fertilizers (Gateway fertilizer 1 (GF1), Gateway fertilizer 2 (GF2) and Sunshine fertilizer (SF)) at four application rates (0, 5, 10 and 15 t ha-1) and NPK 20: 10:10 as a check (30kg N ha-1) were applied on soybean cultivar (TGx 1440–1E), which was planted by seed drilling at 0.5 m apart. Soybean vegetative growth parameters, nodulation, amount of nitrogen fixed, yield, and yield components were determined at 8 weeks after planting (WAP). Fertilizer sources had no significant (P > 0.05) effect on growth parameters except on plant height, GF 2 having significantly (P < 0.05) taller plant. GF 2 had a significantly (P < 0.05) higher number of leaves and taller (P < 0.05) plant with an increasing application rate, which was not observed in other sources. Percentage nitrogen fixed increased significantly (P < 0.05) with application rates in GF1, which was not observed in others. Conversely, significant (P < 0.05) depression was observed on the number of pod/plant with increasing application rate in GF1, with no visible pattern in pod weight/plant with increasing application rates. In conclusion, increasing application rates of GF2 could give a comparative performance of soybean as chemical fertilizer in the transitory zone of Nigeria.

Institute of Food Security, Environmental Resources and Agricultural Research, Nigeria. Two liquid organic fertilizers (ARATI NAWOZ {2.01% N} and ARATI BAJA {1.01% N}) and control were applied to four sunflower varieties (SAMSUN 1, SAMSUN 2, SAMSUN 3 and SAMSUN 4) during the late cropping season (July – Nov.) of 2016 and 2017 to evaluate their agronomic response. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design using a 4 × 3 factorial arrangement in three replicates. Data were collected on plant height at maturity, head diameter and weight, weight and number of seeds per head, 100 seed weight and seed yield. The varietal effect was significant (P < 0.05) on head diameter and weight, and number and weight of seeds per head, and seed yield in 2016. However, during the markedly dry 2017, the varietal effect was not significant for any trait measured. Foliar application of ARATI NAWOZ significantly (P < 0.05) increased height at
maturity, the weight of seeds and head per plant and seed yield relative to the control in both years. Significant Variety × Fertilizer interaction effect was also recorded on the height at maturity, head diameter and weight, and seed yield in 2016. SAMSUN 4 (975.6 kg/ha) produced significantly (P < 0.05) higher seed yield than SAMSUN 1 (789.82 kg/ha) and SAMSUN 2 (778.54 kg/ha) in 2016. The efficacy of the application of both fertilizers was on par for most traits in both years. On average, the application of organic fertilizers resulted in a 15.76 and 69.02% increase
in seed yield relative to the control in 2016 and 2017, respectively. ARATI
NAWOZ and ARATI BAJA appeared promising for sunflower production in the humid tropics.

The rhizosphere modified by biofertilizer as agronomic management during cassava cultivation by the inoculants for microbiome engineering for integrated soil fertility management by the release of plant root exudates and microbial metabolites. Microbiome and the cassava crop are highly dependent on each other as the microbiome contributes a significant portion of the secondary genome of the host plant like quorum quenching strategies that suppress the virulence of pathogens, enhance high yielding cultivars and favorable environments for development. Rhizosphere engineering using biofertilizer can reduce and improves chemical dependant agriculture for resilience agriculture. Cassava genetic engineering integrated with biofertilizer can transforms the use of cassava cultivar for polluted soils phytoremediation and bio-energy crop cultivation in the tropics as re-generative agriculture technique for xenobiotic pollution management. The economic impacts will be development of remediation-to-biofuel economy of restorated polluted soils by conversion of the bioenergy crop cultivated into bioethanol. Defence policies can be understood as political, management, financial, administrative and executable mechanisms arranged to reach explicit military goals and objectives. Military policy differs from rules of engagement determine when, where, and how military force is to be used by formations and units. Military doctrine is the expression of how military forces contribute to campaigns, major operations, battles, and engagements. Military strategy deals with the planning and conduct of campaigns, the movement and disposition of forces, and the deception of the enemy. Military reform has been backed by strong political will on the part of the political leadership, as illustrated by the steadily increasing military budgets are all resultant impact of defence policies of any nation backed by national interest that drives military strategy. The role of defence policy on military strategy examples includes (1) Addressing the defence challenges posed by the Internet of things (IoT) seems likely to require more broadly empowered military cyber resources, an expanded effort to set standards and regulate internet-connected products, and a "Whole of Nation" defence policy approach (2) Tools and levers of Russia's Security policy using the Military; and (3) Development of the US Military's Use of Social Media are all examples that epitomize the impacts on defence policy on military strategy. Sewage is highly implicated in cases of acute morbidity and mortality among little children in Nigeria.The system consists of a number of contiguous shallow (one metre deep) square/rectangular beds opening into each other by small windows such that there is a continuous free flow of sewage through the beds from raw sewage from the central sewage collection point. Channeled into a surface holding tank from where it is piped into the system through the first bed while the purified effluent is discharged from the last bed. All the beds are seeded with adapted water hyacinth plants to grow on and withstand the toxicity of raw sewage -Bioabsorbent. In addition, the long feathery free floating microbial hyacinth plants roots filter off the pathogens in the sewage. Hence, what comes out from the last bed is clean, odour-free, good quality water, safe for discharge into the environment. The sewage also gets detoxified by OBD-Plus microbes. Research paper thumbnail of 2 -Day Training Workshop on Quantitative and Qualitative Techniques for Effective Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) in Project Implementation

HUETZ RESEARCH , 2021

Workshop Brief: Credible evaluation is a key to the sustainable and rapid agricultural developme... more Workshop Brief:
Credible evaluation is a key to the sustainable and rapid agricultural development of any country. This requires policies and methods that emphasize efficient and effective evaluation. The procedures must be well guided by experts with adequate representations of all the stakeholders that are involved in the planning of the programme. Greater emphasis on accountability in the delivery of extension programs has put new focus on techniques for evaluating such programs. It is hoped that improved access to sound information on evaluation methods will be reflected in better planning of agricultural projects, and hence more efficient use of industry funds and sustainable development.
Objectives and Purposes
Understanding monitoring and evaluation requires distinguishing monitoring, evaluation and audit as these are complementary but different exercises. Monitoring is a continuous task of reviewing information, systematic stocktaking of budgetary inputs, and financed activities. Monitoring generates quantitative data. It gives feedback on the proper implementation of instruments/
measures, facilitating corrections of deviations from operational objectives. Monitoring contributes to making public spending accountable and provides valuable information to be used in the evaluation of instruments/measures. Evaluation, on the other hand, involves a judgment of interventions according to their results and impacts and the needs they aim to satisfy. It is a systematic tool which provides evidence for decision making and improves effectiveness, usefulness and efficiency. Moreover, evaluation contributes to improve transparency, learning
and accountability. Therefore, it allows drawing lessons for the future about what works, in which circumstances and why (or why not). The focus of the audit is the correct administrative and financial management of instruments/measures. Generally, monitoring and evaluation are carried out to check to what extent policies and initiatives achieve the set objectives and to develop recommendations on what can be improved in the future. Their results play an increasingly important role to contribute to:
i. Timely and relevant advice to decision-making and providing input to political priority-setting;
ii. Organisational learning: the results of an evaluation can be used to improve the quality of
ongoing intervention and in the development, implementation and design of policies. Moreover, they can identify opportunities for simplification and reduction of regulatory burdens for future policies;
iii. Improving the legitimacy, transparency, accountability and demonstrating the added value of FMARD action; and
iv. A more efficient allocation of resources between interventions, between the separate elements of a specific program or activity, or between activities. Monitoring and evaluations results are key instruments to inform evidence-based decisions about effective spending on policy measures.

Fertiliser application for improved rice productivity without negative environmental impacts rema... more Fertiliser application for improved rice productivity without negative environmental impacts remains a major challenge in Nigeria. Two field experiments were carried out at Badeggi, Niger state in 2011 and 2012 to evaluate the response of lowland rice to a bio-fertilizer (OBD). The experimental field was laid out in a strip-plot design with five treatments and three replications. Twenty-one days old seedlings of FARO 44 and FARO 52 rice varieties were transplanted in 2011 and 2012, respectively. The fertilizer which was manufactured by Aratibiotech Limited, Abeokuta, Nigeria from agricultural and animal wastes embedded with microbial inoculants was applied solely or in combination with inorganic fertilizer. Plots without fertilizer application served as control.

The highest rice grain yield increase of 4.4 t/ha over the control in 2012 occurred in the plot where OBD was applied at 4t/ha in combination with ⅔ inorganic fertilizer’s recommendation. This is far more than Nigeria’s average of lowland rice grain yields of 1.5 t/ha. A lower rate of OBD at 3t/ha in combination with ⅔ recommended inorganic fertilizer was also promising for better net income from the rice farm. Improving soil fertility attendant increase in farm incomes will stimulate forward and backward linkages in the rural economy thereby increasing investment, employment with incomes in related activities.

In Africa (Nigeria) likely to kill the early-stage startups that want to work in the above state-of-art technology where the country’s best startups are encouraged to treat national security customers as secondary. This is why China is five to six times faster than the United States in defense acquisitions. Today, technology development cycles are consistently speeding up over time. This means that the annual change in technology is greater each subsequent year. A bigger one is that many of today’s national security challenges are simply not amenable to dual-use solutions. This means while all the new startups working in defense are focused on dual-use solutions, a handful of major defense contractors are left as ‘the only ones’ trying to address more ‘pressing challenges’. Startups working in national security are forced to either ignore major national security challenges or develop capabilities specifically for sale to ‘major contractors’. China’s system of military-civil fusion allows for seamless coordination between the country’s industry and national security organizations.

The concept resonates with the right of peoples to healthy and culturally appropriate food produced through ecologically and sustainable methods, and their right to define their own food and agriculture systems. Food sovereignty is a call-to-action and a framework of values to guide a holistic reconceptualization of our food system. The six actions of food sovereignty: focus on food for people, value food providers, localize food systems, put control locally, build knowledge and skills, and work with nature. Inclusivity is a cornerstone of food sovereignty's framework, respecting the rights of women and men, peasants and small-scale family farmers, pastoralists, and artisanal fisherfolk in North Eastern Nigeria-to build capacity by delivering results and co-value creation.
