A relação dos seres humanos com as plantas se confunde com a própria história das sociedades ao l... more A relação dos seres humanos com as plantas se confunde com a própria história das sociedades ao longo do tempo e ao largo do espaço. Desde a época pré-histórica os seres humanos utilizam-se de espécies vegetais para a cura de enfermidades e mal-estares, por meio dos princípios ativos dos vegetais de forma empírica e/ou instintiva, baseados em tentativas e erros. Os povos indígenas são aqueles coletivos humanos que dão continuidade à essa antiga tradição. Eles possuem uma forte ligação com a natureza, pois são exímios conhecedores desta e possuem formas sustentáveis de interação, mediante suas ações práticas e simbólicas. Uma 5 Este capítulo é resultado de um trabalho de doutorado do primeiro autor, apoiado pela parceria acadêmica entre os professores orientadores Nicolas Floriani (PPGEO/UEPG) e Adnilson de Almeida Silva (PPGEO/UNIR). Essa iniciativa, que vem ocorrendo desde 2013, possibilitou, além da acolhida do doutorando na terra indígena Parintintin na Amazônia ocidental, a promoção de ações interinstitucionais no âmbito da Rede Internacional CASLA-CEPIAL e que resultou na organização do PRÉ-CEPIAL, em 2018, promovido pelo Programa de Pósgraduação em Geografia na Universidade Federal de Rondônia. Destaca-se que o PPGEO da UNIR tem desenvolvido trabalhos de pesquisa e extensão interdisciplinares juntamente com as etnias Suruí e Parintintin, resultando em ações práticas de desenvolvimento territorial nas terras indígenas, assim como na formação mestres e doutores indígenas no referido curso.

The article seeks to analyze how the Parintintin people called Pykahu, from the Aldeia Traíra, in... more The article seeks to analyze how the Parintintin people called Pykahu, from the Aldeia Traíra, in the Terra Indígena Nove de Janeiro, in the municipality of Humaitá – Amazonas state, establish the process of restoring health through their ethno-knowledge. For this, they build the relationship as a result of their spatial experiences since immemorial time so that they use plant and animal species, in addition to minerals, which in their conceptions have healing powers in the physical body and in the spirit. As a method, it is based on empiricism and oral reports produced by Parintintin, in addition to using the “snowball” technique to obtain results. These reflect ethno-knowledge with respective uses to obtain health and are linked to social, cultural and spiritual activities.

The following article depicts the Paiter Suruí's culture, and specifically their reality and the ... more The following article depicts the Paiter Suruí's culture, and specifically their reality and the origin of their universe that is reproduced in festive and ritualistic representations which keep their identity alive. Among the several existing rituals, the Mapimai explains the origin of the world. In 2011, the representative symbols of the Mapimai-object of this research-were the royal hawk, the forest and the river. The group called kaban which owns the chicha and hosts the event, held the ritual and chose the Apoena Meireles village located in Rondolandia, Mato Grosso, to be the locus of its representation. The ritual is performed using the chicha drink which can be made out of cassava, corn or yam. A painting is done on a wooden trunk (throne) on which the guests of the chicha owner will get seated. After all the preparations, the groups called Gamep, Gamir, Makor and Kaban meet and challenge each other to drink the chicha until they cannot bear it anymore. Couples dance in a circle either holding hands or hugging each other following the sound of the flute and chants whose songs' lyrics shed light on the role of the royal hawk, the forest and the river, as the identity´s constructive elements. The lyrics are never repeated. In short, the aim of the ritualistic event is to strengthen the unity between the Paiter Suruí.

Resumo Este artigo objetiva apontar alguns aspectos da participação de diversas etnias indígenas ... more Resumo Este artigo objetiva apontar alguns aspectos da participação de diversas etnias indígenas e comunidades tradicionais nos embates que envolvem os governos em suas esferas federal, estadual e municipal. Visa também evidenciar a questão dos acordos comerciais e a implantação de mais um dos empreendimentos de grande porte do Programa de Aceleração do Crescimento (PAC), que proporcionará grandes impactos ambientais e étnicos para as populações que estão dentro e no entorno da área afetada diretamente pela Usina Hidrelétrica de Belo Monte-UHBM, no Estado do Pará. O discurso do progresso proferido pelos defensores da hidrelétrica confronta-se com os contextos e objetivos das comunidades que não visualizam os benefícios oriundos do empreendimento, estes indicadores de grandes transformações nos modos de vida, visto que a relação intrínseca com o rio será definitivamente rompida e a nova realidade se sobreporá em seus territórios, de modo que algumas de suas práxis existenciais não poderão ser realizadas em virtude da implantação da UHBM.
