Welcome to NJFreaks, a community created in order to gather New Jersians looking for the fun, weirdness and creativity the Garden State has to offer. Welcome to people who are proud of the finer points of the Garden State: the toothless imbreds of the Pine Barrens, the Bon Jovi Catalog, people who know where Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash is.... our government *cough*.
We want people who know the beach isn't the beach but the Shore, The New Jersey Turnpike is just the Turnpike, and the GSP is just the parkway. People who find no humor in the inquiries of out-of-staters who ask "Oh yer from Jersey? What exit?"
So, if you've ever gone on a barhop in 'Boken, eaten fries out of a paper cone on the boardwalk or cursed a Pennsylvanian in the fast lane, come join us for some irreverent discussions and information on local events, findings, artists and weirdness.
I don't love rules, but I love crappy communities even less. Here's a few simple, reasonable ones that I ask members to abide by. In a nutshell, use your brain and your discretion when posting. I'll certainly be using mine when deleting posts and users (though, I hope I never have to). You don't have to kiss ass, but don't be an ass either. Thanks.
[1] No drama or douchebags. Please try be respectful to each member here. No personal attacks are allowed. Attacking someone or acting with trollish behavior will result in an immediate ban without warning.
[2] When posting pictures, please only allow 1 outside of the LJ-CUT and don't make it too friggen big, 400x400 or so is a pretty nice max size.
[3] Don't shit up this community. Promoting your show, event, art, wares, etc is fine and ENCOURAGED. We love creative people. Please try to keep it jersey-central in some way (a NJ band playing in NYC, etc - sure no prob). Keep advertisements to one post per week or I'll remove them.
[4] DO NOT provide personal information for other members in this community. It is against LJ's TOS and will result in revoking of posting access.
[5] Any nudity or offensive images not safe for the work environment are to be behind an LJ-CUT.
[6] Do not disable comments to your posts.
