As part of efforts to ensure that medical grade oxygen is available locally in hospitals in LMICs, the Iplussolutions team was in Kankan Guinea last week to commission 1 of the 3 PSA duplex oxygen plants donated to the country by the Global Fund as part of the C19RM project. #everybreathcounts ##medicaloxygen #Guinea #oxygenplants #afrimed i+solutions - 📢 100 oxygen plant sites in production! One hundred sites in 25 countries have started the preparation and construction to install a skid mounted or containerized O2 plant to produce #oxygen. i+solutions works as Procurement Agent for The Global Fund to not only deliver O2 plants to hospitals, but also to provide the structures and technically prepare the sites at hospital premises. Since 2021, we work with suppliers, engineers, logistic service providers, governments and our counterparts at The Global Fund, to #increase #access #to #medical #oxygen in low- and middle income countries. And now 100 sites are being constructed! 👏 Compliments to the team and all parties involved for reaching this siginifcant milestone!

The World Health Organization (WHO) published its Global Tuberculosis Report 2024 this week. Much has been achieved, an estimated 79 million lives were saved since 2020, but TB is far from over. 10.8 million people fell ill from the disease and 1.25 million died in 2023 alone. Increased effort and more funds are needed for prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care, so we may reach the SDG targets and end TB. The gaps are still very wide... Six vaccines are currently in Phase III trails, which gives us hope that those targets can still be reached by 2030. See the insightful WHO infographics below. Thanks KNCV TB Plus for sharing. As procurement agent for UNOPS/Stop TB Partnership, our team works hard every day to get TB medicines to patients. We are glad and proud to be able to contribute to the fight against TB. #EndTB #YesWeCanEndTB #TogetherWeCanEndTB
📢 Yesterday, World Health Organization (WHO) published their Global Tuberculosis Report 2024 underscoring key advancements and challenges in the fight against #tuberculosis (TB). 🚨 It's 2024 and #TB continues to be the world's deadliest infectious disease! 🚨 This report is more than a summary; it’s a roadmap 🛣 for the urgent measures needed to counteract TB’s deadly toll. “Ending TB will require accelerated action in areas such as vaccine development, TB preventive treatment coverage, access to point-of-care-diagnostics, and funding,” says KNCV’s Executive Director Dr. Gidado Mustapha. 🙌 From KNCV TB Plus, we thank all frontline healthcare workers, partners, and donors for the invaluable progress made in TB prevention and care as reported by #WHO. 🤝 Together, let’s ensure that the fight against TB gains the momentum it critically needs, because lives depend on it. 🔗 Read more: https://lnkd.in/eE-QPHsD and check out the infographics prepared by WHO below 👇 #EndTB #TogetherWeCanEndTB #WHOReport #GlobalTBReport2024 -

Impact of pharmaceutical access programs in low- and middle-income countries A few weeks ago, i+solutions’ Martin Mugisha had an interesting conversation with Dennis Choguya, Sales and Marketing Manager of Varichem Pharmaceuticals (Pvt). LTD from Zimbabwe, about the impact of the Sanofi insulin access program in Zimbabwe. The price went down by almost 50% for pharmacies and availability went up. They also talked more broadly about the challenges the local pharmaceutical market faces. We want to thank Dennis for the open conversation and for sharing his insights. Read the full article on our website https://lnkd.in/etjnYp3C🌍 World Health Summit, Berlin i+solutions’ COO Wesley Kreft is part of a panel discussion organized by Sanofi at the upcoming World Health Summit in Berlin about the power of partnerships to improve access to chronic care in low and middle income countries. 👉 Location: Lounge Cairo at JW Marriott hotel, Berlin 👉 Date & time: Monday October 14, 6-7.30 pm#accesstomedicines #leavonoonebehind #uhcPhotos courtesy of Varichem Pharmaceuticals - Tomorrow, we celebrate World Oxygen Day 2024! The importance of #medical #oxygen for patients and lack thereof in many countries became painfully clear during the Covid-19 outbreak. In 2020, at the height of the pandemic, The Global Fund (TGF) initiated the Covid-19 Response Mechanism (C19RM) to strengthen implementing countries’ health and community systems, prioritising medical oxygen, respiratory care and therapeutics. Through C19RM, countries invest TGF grant funds to bolster health infrastructures by providing medical oxygen and associated clinical and non-clinical products. Medical oxygen is generally provided by pressure swing adsorption (PSA) plants, big industrial machines that require considerable infrastructural preparation. Mid 2021, i+solutions, procurement service agent for TGFs Pooled Procurement Mechanism (PPM), was awarded the contract for the procurement of these oxygen PSA plants. Since the start of the project, almost 200 plants for over 30 countries were procured with TGF funds and managed via the PPM. Delivering the containerized or skid-mounted (PSA) plants was hampered due to sites at receiving health facilities not being technically prepared. Hospital administrations did not know how to handle this, as existing buildings had to be adjusted or new buildings constructed, which required a lot of engineering. To improve the installation of the (PSA) plants, TGF asked i+solutions manage site preparation, so an oxygen team complete with architects, engineers and project managers was formed. Many challenges had to be overcome to manage all the stakeholders at different levels, to define the exact works to be performed and to include the specific local conditions at each site. The result has become very visible this past year. Currently, construction works are ongoing at 136 hospitals and the first 27 Plants have been commissioned. In most cases, there was no infrastructure available, and buildings needed to be designed and constructed from scratch, foundations had to be laid, medical gas piping systems and generators installed. At some sites, because of a lack of space, the plant needed to be delivered on top of an existing building, so engineers had to be inventive. Please find below a set of pictures showing what the site construction journey from beginning to end looks like. We are very proud of the work our oxygen team is doing. We want to thank our counterparts at The Global Fund, our suppliers Sinopharm Fortune International Trading Corp., Atlas Copco, AirSep Corporation , Novair , Ultra Controlo, Afrimed, MILS, Sumer, our logistic service providers A.P. Moller - Maersk, Logenix International and Bolloré Logistics and all staff at the in-country Ministries of Health, for their ongoing collaboration and help to achieve these results and expand access to oxygen for patients in low-and middle income countries.#WorldOxygenDay #EveryBreathCounts
