nomnomcomm - Profile (original) (raw)
on 27 December 2007 (#14538701)
Dedicated to the *cough* sensual uses of food in fan fiction, fan art and other fannish pursuits.
Food. Fandom. Two great tastes that taste great together!
This community is the place for getting your favorite characters together, mixing in fascinating foodstuffs of your choice and letting them have ALLLLLL kinds of fun. Slippery, sticky, messy, gooey, delicious fun. Are we putting you in the picture yet? Consider this comm to be Fandom's One-Stop Grocery Store o' Luuuuuvvv.
Fan fiction, fan art, it's all good here. The mods will post monthly creative challenges, but feel free to write, draw, photoshop, vid and post as the spirit moves you, as long as you adhere to the General Policies below. In addition, karihan plans to set up a challenge with a table of prompts a la fanfic100 or smut_69; watch the comm for more details! Recs, questions and general discussion are also excellent. Got a yen to write your favorite character whipping up a souffle to entice his or her objet du lust, but don't know which end of an eggbeater is up yourself? Ask away! We do insist that fandom be involved somehow; there are other comms for posting recipes, foodpics and swooning over RL meals.
What is encouraged: Postings of food-related fan fiction and fan art. Recommendations (with links) of foody fannishness that has been posted elsewhere. Discussions of food in fandom and related questions. Suggestions for new challenges and new fun things to do with the comm.
All fandoms are acceptable. All genres are fine here, be they het, slash, femmeslash, even gen! All ratings are A-OK ... yes, we fully expect that most of the postings will be PG-13 and up, but if you desperately need a forum to post your completely nonsexual Buffy/Heroes/Narnia/West Wing crossover food fight (with commentator Alton Brown), then we are SO here for you!
What is disallowed: Pissing in other people's Wheaties, aka dissing their fandom or pairing of choice, going all ewww-squicky over their genre, trolling, buzz-harshing and general asshattery. The Golden Rule is a good policy in fandom, so let's please apply it to keep this particular sandbox a warm, friendly place.
Suggestions: If you have an idea for a short, food-related prompt (no more than three words, preferably one) for the challenges, please put it in a comment to this post. If your suggestion has already been made, feel free to leave an "ooo yes please!" reply to that comment.
General Policies:
LJ cuts: Please follow LJ Etiquette and put long posts, images, icons, fanfic and other goodies under a cut (you can put a teaser on the main page, but be sensible as to the size of your post). Keep the late-night-on-pay-per-view stuff under a cut. Keep anything even REMOTELY spoilery under a cut. In general, if you're not sure? Ask a mod or just put it under a cut.
IF YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW TO USE LJ-CUTS: Read this section of LiveJournal's FAQs. Check with a mod if you're still having trouble.
Bear in mind that LJ cuts are everyone's friend: the readers who don't want their flists borked by massive posts, the fans who don't want to be smacked in the face with spoilers, the writers who don't want to hear OMGHOWGROSS about their Sam/Dean/Bella incestfic with bananas. Use them well, and use them often.
Headers: All fiction posts should have a header above the LJ-cut with the following information. All art posts should have everything that the teaser (if there is one) doesn't make obvious.
Title:
Author/Artist:
Fandom:
Characters/Pairing:
Challenge (if applicable):
Rating and Warnings:
Spoilers (if applicable): PLEASE err on the side of caution when labeling spoilers!
Disclaimer: Yes, everything needs a disclaimer, especially RPF.
Flagging: The entire comm is already flagged for Explicit Adult Content, therefore individual flagging of posts is not necessary.
Tags: The mods appreciate any help you can give to keep the comm organized. To this end, please tag your post with all the appropriate tags: fic, art, recs, discussion, question, challenge. For fiction and art, please also include fandom, characters or pairing/moresome, and *hem!* primary foodstuff. That way someone who wants to mainline all the Nutella fic on offer will have an easier time finding it. ;) For more info on tags, please read this LJ faq answer.
Advertising and comm promotion: Recommendations of fan fiction, fan art and whatnot that fit the community description are heartily encouraged. If you wish to advertise another community, website or something not strictly related to food in fandom, please contact one of the moderators for permission to do so. If you'd like to affiliate with us, do let us know!
The mods will delete posts that violate policy and will ban repeat offenders. We are usually mellow, cheerful creatures who do not enjoy opening up cans of whoop-ass. We'll all be happiest if you don't force us to be otherwise.
If you have any policy questions or concerns, please contact karihan at the above e-mail.
