In the Nazi-occupied Soviet territories, collaborators were needed as the Eastern Front was takin... more In the Nazi-occupied Soviet territories, collaborators were needed as the Eastern Front was taking much of the German manpower and the threat of communist partisans was real. This led to widespread Nazi collaboration in the Soviet territories, particularly among the Ukrainians. Much of the conversation around Ukrainian collaboration with the Nazis is that it was done solely to survive, however, there seemed to be more nationalistic, anti-Soviet, and anti-Semitic motivations than the general narrative implies.
