The framework of the developed firmware is described. The firmware is operated as the part of testbed and allows providing computer-aided strength and fatiguing tests. Hardware components of the firmware are based on industrial equipment which is used in stands for strength tests. The upper level of software is implemented by means of Visual Studio 2012 with C#, WPF, C++. The lower level of software is implemented by means of ANSI-C and PLC code. The created firmware allows increasing of implementation accuracy of power loading cyclograms during of strength and fatigue tests for aeronautical equipments.

The description of the stand equipped by electrohydraulic drive is presented. Results of experimental researches of dynamical characteristics for the stand are shown and, as the result, the mathematical model of the given stand has been received by results of experimental tests. Proportional-integral (PI) controller is designed for force interaction via singular perturbation technique such that multi-time-scale motions are artificially induced in the closed-loop system. Multi-time-scale motions analysis allows getting analytical expressions for selection of controller parameters. Experimental results are presented.

A parabolic partial differential equation is used to describe the thermal heating process. Control objective is to provide desired thermal distribution and transient performances in presence of an unknown extemal distributed disturbance and time-varying parameter. The continuous-time distributed controller with the highest output derivative in feedback is used and one guarantees desired transients by inducing of two-time-scale motions in the closed-loop system.

Proposed control system consists of two cascades. Inner one maintains input current by PI controller with an additional low-pass filtering. In outer one the third-order controller provides output voltage regulation. Analytical expressions are derived for digital implementation of the proposed control laws by microcontroller. Numerical simulation results are presented.

Research paper thumbnail of Time-scale separation approach to PWM-nonlinear control system design

An equivalent continuous-time dynamics of a high-frequency pulse-width modulated nonlinear system is used for continuous-time controller design in accordance with Filippov's average approach. The proposed controller design methodology is based on time-scale separation technique (singular perturbation technique) where two-time-scale motions are induced in the closed-loop system. The closed-loop system stability, the almost perfect output tracking and external disturbance rejection are provided by selection of controller parameters. Numerical example and simulation results are presented.
