painresearch! This is a community for posting and discussing the latest news and research about chronic pain and fatigue. This includes Arthritis (Psoriatic, Rheumatoid, Osteo, etc), Fibromyalgia (FMS), Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS), Chronic Fatigue Immune Deficiency Syndrome (CFIDS), Multiple Sclerosis (MS), lupus (SLE), migraines & other headaches, neuropathy, back pain, Lyme disease, jaw disorders (TMJ), vulvodynia, vulvar vestibulitis, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and many other conditions characterized by chronic pain and fatigue as well as psychological and physical conditions related to pain and fatigue.
This community's goal is to make research more accessible and understandable, and enable us to keep abreast of the newest knowledge about the pain and fatigue conditions we are living with. Members are encouraged to work together to translate the academicspeak and "medicalese" into language we can all understand.

To participate in this community, please familiarize yourself with how to do an LJ cut tag as well as the following guidelines...
The only types of posts that are appropriate for this community are:
1. Postings of research articles. Please include a link to the source, and include the full text if possible. If it's longer than a few paragraphs, put it behind a lj-cut tag.
2. Postings of newspaper, journal, academic and magazine articles about chronic pain and fatigue, if they make reference to medical or scientific findings on the etiology (cause) or potential treatments and cures. Again, use a lj-cut tag.
3. Discussion of specific research, or discussion that help us understand what the meanings and implications of these research articles are, as well as the current trends in treatment, and discussion of how to present this research to doctors, or how to use it to influence our choices of treatments.
4. Calls for participants in research studies or clinical trials.
5. General discussion of the trends in the medical community's approach to these conditions' etiology and treatment.
6. Information about new meds that come onto the market or are being used to treat these conditions (press releases, articles, etc).
7. Other posts that seem relevant, such as editorials and letters from the editor from medical journals.
