_2:05 pm_[ladymacbeth6]	PAWS IS OVERLOADED WITH ANIMALS! HELP! PAWS takes in over 30,000 animals a year. Yesterday alone we received 54 cats - and only had about 12 adoptions. We need to amp up our adoption rates, now! Spread the word! There are hundreds of beautiful, adoptable cats and dogs at PAWS! Here's just a sample of some of the beautiful animals who need homes. _11:29 pm_[ladymacbeth6]	Animal Control in Philadelphia RIght now, there is a lot going on with Animal Control in Philadelphia. PACCA is in danger of losing their contract with the city, as the health dept has put out an RFP on a contract to start Jan 1 2009, even though PACCA's contract is through June 30, 2009. Philly PAWS and PACCA have gone leaps and bounds beyond what animal control in philly was doing 5 years ago, and that can't stop. Philly must be No-Kill. _9:00 am_[ladymacbeth6]	Many Mom Cats and Babies at PAWS need Your Help! I'm a volunteer at PAWS, the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society, and I've been looking for more places to get the word out about fostering kittens. PAWS/PACCA gets over 30,000 animals a year and right now we are still battling kitten season and usually have between 25 and 40 litters who need to be fostered or they'll be euthanized due to space. I thought there might be people in this community who'd be interested in fostering - please let me know if you are and i can help you out. This is a post I make a couple times a week with pictures i've taken of every litter of kittens in the building, and i post it on craiglist, myspace, facebook, blogs, and anywhere I can find - please let me know if you know of any other good places i might find philly-area foster parents!Thanks!

_3:06 pm_[madrigalblue]	Need (suburban) space for charity work Hi friends, I'm doing a 3day, 60 mile walk to fight breast cancer in October. It will take place in Philly. Needless to say, there is some MAJOR fundraising that needs to happen because I have committed to raise $2200. I would like to host some small events such as a scrapbooking crop and an Avon party. However, I do not have any space in which to do these events and I do not attend a church so I don't think I could get a donated space. _9:48 am_[deepdarksea]	Hey all, i have a question. I have a stack of books starting from my freshman year of college and they are old editions so i know i wont be able to sell them back anywhere. I feel bad just throwing them out, especially because most of them are in new condition, and barely used. Does anyone know if i could sell them back anywhere or atleast donate them so ill know they are being used? They range from all different subjects such as bio, nursing, italian, public speaking...thanks for your help.

_3:00 pm_[deepdarksea]	thrift stores? Hi, I have a question about thrift stores, or stores in Philadelphia that allow you to sell used clothes, in good condition, to them. I have some clothes that are in good condition and always give it away to good will.. well now, i would love a little extra cash and i read in a magazine that it is possible to sell back some stuff for a few bucks. I wanted to know which stores in Philadelphia do that? I live in NE, but I'm all over the city so i'd be willing to go pretty much anywhere. Thank you!

No archives from WXPN. No FolkAlley.Imagine untouchable tech companies deeming their music offerings business losses. Goodbye AOL Radio. Goodbye Yahoo! No Live365.On Friday March 2nd, the U.S. government (specifically, the Copyright Royalty Board, or "CRB") announced its determination of the royalty rates Internet radio webcasters must pay the owners of sound recording copyrights to license the music they play for the years 2006-2010. The owners of these sound recording copyrights are, in the vast majority of cases, recording companies ("labels").While successful webcasters which have built loyal audiences can usually cover most of their costs from their revenue (and sometimes even make a little profit), these new rates will almost certainly destroy the Internet radio industry, as they amount to well over 100% of even the most-successful webcasters' online radio revenues. In other words, these fees are grotesquely disproportionate to any other expense a webcaster would normally face, and certain to bankrupt him or her.There's absolutely nothing wrong with artists getting their fair share of royalties due them from song performances.
