As the demographics of New Orleans radically changes, it is harder and harder to find a welcoming space for the people of color who once lived there. It is the hope and intention of this community to be that welcoming, safe space for the people who are unfortunately displaced and the people who love them. It is also for those who are fighting for the Right To Return and those who have already returned to find a new New Orleans not to their liking.
Whatever your opinions about the aftermath of Katrina, whether the levees will be Cat3 or Cat5, or whether displaced New Orleanians should even return home; please be respectful in your posts and your comments understanding that everyone has different opinions and reasons for those opinions.
We welcome any input that allows all of us to keep updated on the developments in New Orleans as the struggle to rebuild continues. We would also welcome writings reflecting your memories of New Orleans and what you'd like to see preserved. Katrina survivor stories are welcome as well. Anyone antagonizing survivors will be immediately banned.
Please post an introductory post. Let's not forget our manners.
Flaming will not be tolerated. Trolls will not be tolerated.
Those banned from this community will be given no excuse: you already know and it's not up for discussion.
