postyourmix - Profile (original) (raw)

No doubt if you're here, you've been posting in the house/trance/dance/IDM etc, music oriented communities on LJ. It's my goal here to start a community where DJs can post their mixes online... with a little twist.
I'm here to make all these mixes as user friendly as possible. This requires posters to adhere to a standard of sorts, but before you fret, note that most of these standards aren't far from what people do anyway. That said, you must have your mix in the following formats BEFORE posting it.
- ONE, single mp3 file
- 192k CBR or higher
- 128k min 192-320k max VBR
- You MUST provide a cue sheet. If you don't know how to make one, contact me, I'll help you. CD-Text Artist and track titles are VERY much appriciated. The cue sheets will also impose a standard, which will be posted shortly.
- Package your mix with cue sheet in a ZIP or RAR archive. Multi-section archives are fine.
What this does is allows users to simply download your mix, unpack it, load the cue into their burning software of choice, and burn a continuous mix CD without gaps. If you included artist/track info, this allows said info to be displayed on CDs played in PCs, and CD-Text capable players and car head decks (like mine!)
Nothing is more frustrating than download a really killer mix, but you only know a few of the tracks, AND you have to cut it yourself, AND it's shoddy quality. We're here to get your mixes out, downloaded, and burned so people can enjoy them in the easiest, fastest and IMO best way possible. That's why we all mix isn't it? :D
