Does Claude use my team members’ location? (original) (raw)
This article is about our commercial products such as Claude for Work and the Anthropic API. For our consumer products such as Claude Free, Pro, Max and when accounts from those plans use Claude Code, see here.
Optional Collection for Product Features
When your team/organization members use product features that benefit from location data (for example, using web search to ask Claude to find local results), Claude may use their IP address to determine coarse-grained location (city/region level). Anthropic currently does not collect precise location data (e.g. location inferred from GPS, Wifi, Bluetooth, etc.) from our users.
Team members can also disable usage of their individual location data to enhance their use of product features like web search in their settings.
Mandatory Collection for Security / Anti-Abuse
Anthropic uses IP address and other signals to infer coarse-grained location (country/region level) in order to ensure usage of Claude complies with our terms, prevent abuse, and show users features available in their region. This use is necessary to protect our users and business and cannot be toggled off. Please refer to our Privacy Policy to learn more.
